What about db hack squats? If you're looking to add weight to your squats, those might work. Basically, you're reaching behind you. I'm sure someone else could explain better because I struggle with doing them (bb usually).
Great workouts -- again!

Excellent! I'm glad you finally got some good sleep and it sounds like the perfect workout.
Great job on the weights.....Looks like you've reached to point where you need to upgrade your equipment a bit.

HA! I appreciate the sentiment, but I'm hardly qualified to compete with you three animals...yet, anyway.
Brenda, I'll try the hack squats, thanks for the idea.
Thanks for stopping in, Garrocha...glad to see you back again!
Thanks, Egham and Lance!
Emergency at work tomorrow morning, so I'll have to skip my planned workout and go in very early. Now, that just makes me mad! If I get home early enough tomorrow and I'm not too tired, I'll do it then. Otherwise, I'm on vacation next week and thought I'd try doing my HIITs right after my resistance workouts again since I'll have the time. That would give me two days off completely which would be a nice change.

Victoria, workouts are looking great!! Isn't that funny about the food ... I now find that things that I used to love are too sweet!! Kind of a bummer ... of course there are other things that I just love now, so I guess it's a trade off.
You could try working in some single leg squats ... either off a bench/step, or Pistol-style ...

Pistol-style squats are MUCH easier with a TRX to assist too. Is yours coming soon?

HIITS right after resistance training means you can't feel your legs for a while.

I hope you got through that OK.
Are you doing anything special with your vacation, besides adding HIITs to your resistance workouts?

Yeah, I got through it, thanks Egham. What's that saying, "You're lack of planning does not make it my emergency?" You get the hint! Anyway, after a two-frickin'-hour ride home tonight, no frickin' mood for a workout! What can I say....it is what it is. Tomorrow is another day...and the start of my vaca. I'm staying home for this one. Sometimes it's just nice to be here and actually have time to enjoy it. Maybe a day trip or two, a few visits to the barn for some horse rides, of course, a lazy nap or two, and then just general puttzing and getting caught up on some stuff. I'm starting a small business venture with a colleague and we had our kick-off dinner last night, so I've got my assignment for that, too. So, a little bit of everything, and a bunch of nothing, I guess. I'm looking forward to it!
Julie/Jill, I would love to do pistols. In fact, that's my next goal after I get these chin-ups under my belt. But, I agree, Jill. I saw a photo of someone doing a pistol with the TRX and it occured to me that I could use some type of rope or something similar and attach it to my Smith machine (actually put it to a good use) as support and give it a try.
Paula, not so much with my legs, it's my upper body that is sore from all those dasterdly inverted rows and push-ups! Geez what was CB thinking?!!!

re: pistols - I don't think I could start in the bottom position and raise the front leg off the ground - what does that mean? weak hip flexors?

Victoria, you could just use the bar on the Smith machine too, that's what I've been doing at home (just holding the bar set on my power rack - I usually have it set at about waist height I think).
What's this new business venture?

I KNOW I can't do that either. Could it be some ankle inflexibility, too?
Paula, care to join me in my little chin-up challenge?
Thanks, Julie, I'll try that, too. Business venture is work-related, we are going to be writing several reference manuals for various areas of our profession. It's a pretty large undertaking that might take us a couple years to finish, but we are very focused and committed. We are both pretty excited about it...just trying not to look too far down the road at the enormity of it.

TT DB/BW Fusion Fat Loss
L2 BW Interval Circuit B-3
14 July 2007
Warm-up: 5 min. on tready
No rest btw exercises, 1 minute rest btw circuits:
Waiters Bow: 12 reps
Spiderman Climb: 12 reps per side
Push-ups: Max -1 (C1-14, C2-9)
Stability Ball jackknife: 12 reps
Jumping Jacks: 60 reps
Plank with Arms on Ball: 30 sec.
Cool down: 5 min. on tready
2 circuits completed.
Notes: I barely got through this. My stomach was ready to revolt. I think the PreWO drink I had with milk was trying to return on me. It was very shakey but I pushed to at least finish the 2 circuits. I really wanted to complete 3 today.
I still was lacking in the energy department, too. I know my calories were pretty low the past couple days plus my very early morning yesterday didn't help much either. So, tomorrow will be a complete day of rest and hopefully by Monday I'll be feeling energized. I'm planning on combining the resistance with the HIIT again. So, I really want to make sure I get good sleep and eats.

You still got 2 sets in, that's not shabby.
You've been working hard.....A day of good rest and getting back to your nutrition plan should serve you well.
Enjoy it!
