Thanks, buddy! I tried to get some rest, but I just got done spending an hour mowing the lawn. Now I'm really spent. Chores wait for no one!

Tomorrow IS a day of rest...other than a quick horsy ride!

It's my nephew's 6th B-day...I'm off to give him a huge hug and kiss (which I know he'll absolutely love ) and a little gift. He is the coolest kid I have ever met!

Nephews are great! I have 7 of them. Love them all. The youngest is 13, the rest have finished college and are starting careers. When they were younger, I used to love visiting my sisters and getting the nephews all wound up.

One nephew has just returned from teaching business English in Prague for the past year and a half and he called this evening to discuss scheduling a visit. We haven't nailed anything down, but we're really looking forward to his visit.

I also have 3 wonderful nieces. The youngest is 11 and the other two are out of college and working. They're just as great! I got a call from one just last week.....I'll be a great uncle in a few months!

We've don't have children; the nieces and nephews have been our focus.

Enjoy your nephew's birthday....and, enjoy your rest.

Sounds like you have a large family, Egham. That's nice.

I have a niece, too. She'll be 11 in September. She's equally as cool as my nephew. They have been like my little best friends. Every now and then I feel badly, though. I have just one sibling, a brother 1-1/2 years older than me. And, once in a while I wonder if he ever wishes I had kids so he could be an uncle and could experience our kids growing up together. I guess it just wasn't in my wiring. I never, ever had the urge.

Oh well....

I'm veeeery sore today...geez, I wonder why!!!

That was a lot of work - are you suppposed to combine the workouts like that? If so, I think it'd be a long time before I'll be ready to tackle that one. Great job.

Yes, 5 younger sisters, all with kids.

You're not alone. It's not in Mrs. Egham's wiring either. Fortunately, that was not an impediment for me....I had finally found the perfect woman for me and since we were in our mid-40s (1st marriage for both of us), the thought of raising a family no longer appealed.

Hey, you can always adopt someday if you REALLY wanted to. I figure the two cats and the four part-time stepkids have me covered.
Really, having the freedom to live my life the way that I really want to (well, other than the military aspect of things) far outweighs the procreation thing for me. I'm too selfish to take care of babies.

Yes, for best benefit, do the HIIT right after the resistance. I just don't have the time during the week. I've never done both one right after the other before and I just wanted to try it. Woooohoooo! I think I'm going to take Fridays as rest days so I can do the combos on Saturdays. I actually liked the challenge. It reminded me of my high school sports days and how much we loved to hate our workouts, yet we felt so good after each one. Saturday's workout became a mental thing for sure. I just kept pushing. After so many years of extremely limited mobility and pain (from a back injury) it is truly awesome that I'm able to do these workouts at all and that I feel so good.

Tina, I would adopt, but it's not the acquisition of children that I dread, its the years of aftercare. But, I'm with you on the freedom thing...one cat and one horse is quite enough for me!

Hey, Lance!!!

I took a nice easy horse ride this morning and spent the afternoon lying around the house, took a nice nap on the couch, did a little laundry.

I'm thinking of taking tomorrow off, too. Still sore from today, so I think one more day of recovery would do me well. Then I can do a combo again on Saturday and still be on schedule. Hmmm...that could work.

Do you know how long it took you to do the entire combined workout? I'm thinking this might be a good variation in case I need/want something different from NROL. Only thing is I have about an hour to do my workout in.

When you ordered TT, what package did you get?

Well, it took a little longer than what it's supposed to take. I can't remember if Lou talks about how long it would take in NROL, you'll have to skim the chapter on cardio, but I do know the NROL workouts generally took me longer because there is a rest after each set within the supersets versus no rest between sets in TT workouts, just rest after each superset. So that automatically cuts down on time.

If I'm not mistaken Craig estimates that doing both should take no more than 45 minutes. I think it took me a little over an hour. I have a small setup in my basement that I workout in. So, I usually have to rearrange things between supersets which can take another minute or two. Plus, running upstairs to refill my water, etc. But, Craig's workouts are designed for the busy person. One of the reasons I like them...I'm busy! Also, I purchased the premium membership for access to all workouts on his website. Unfortunately, I think the price has increased significantly since then. I'm still deciding if it's worth it. His forums have much less traffic than JP's but he is good about responding to most if not all posts. So, you do get direct interaction with him which is nice.

I started out with the fat loss workouts in NROL then switched to TT and thought it was a nice transition. I really like the structure of the TT workouts. There are some workouts in NROL that I know I wouldn't like. I think his manuals are worth the individual prices. Which one are you thinking of getting?

Just the regular one - since I understand it also has the dumbbell/BW workout with it. (And that's the gear I have - no barbell just yet). I think it's $39.95.

Thanks, Brenda...

Ugh...I just had the absolute worst experience today at lunch. I thought I'd "treat" myself to a particular gourmet chicken pot pie from across the street today for lunch (this would obviously be a 10% meal). The last time I had one...well before starting PN...it WAS good. In fact, I thought it was delicious. Well, I should have known this could be trouble. Something about the way the crust glistened at me told me this might not be a good idea. I started to eat into it, and after 4 or 5 bites, I swear, I started breaking out into a sweat and feeling like my stomach would revolt. My body had a physical reaction to all that heavy buttery, gooey dough and thick, starchy, salty sauce. Ugh...I'm still feeling almost sick from it. I dumped it and finished my lunch with a handful of cheeries I happened to grab this morning and a small can of V-8 juice and some almonds I had stashed in my desk. I think I've passed the point of no return...NEVER AGAIN!

Ah the glories of retraining the palate... I've had similar experiences with foods I liked in my former life that now are too rich or just too ugh to get down.

You might want to make your own (if you're that into chicken pot pie), so you'll know what's in it. I find that as my culinary skills improve, going out to eat is more of a social event than it is for the food. (Except for this chinese place that makes an absolutely killer garlic eggplant - I MUST replicate it somehow.)

Nah...not that into it to make it myself.
