All in all, I'm finding my motivation to stay on track increasing, largely because of this challenge and this forum. So, on schedule for tomorrow is a good, hard TT workout.

He's really a good boy, very goofy and dopey, but a true gentleman none the less...and very large. He stands almost 17 hands, and he is very wide of back so my adductors or graciles, or whatever is on the inside of the thighs, got quite the stretch. Anyway, it was pretty ugly at first, he's a big mover with a very large stride, so it took me a while to find my seat. But, after I got his rhythm down, the ride went pretty well considering it's been a couple months. It was only walk-trot, but it was quite the workout. The trainer kept me on for longer than normal, probably because I was a bit rusty. It definitely got my heartrate going.
I always enjoy reading how others turn everyday situations into opportunities for exercise. So, I did mini-sprints up a small, steep hill that leads to the main barn everytime I went that way. It was fun. One of the trainers thought I was nuts!
I usually don't post anything much about my eats. I guess because I usually don't make anything fancy on a daily basis. But, after yesterday's god-awful cookout, I really needed a tasty meal. I mean, it was just hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill, sans buns of course, and various salads (potatoe, cole slaw, pasta, etc.) of which I only had the tossed kind. I mean, what I had was all compliant, but it was just awful for some reason. The public is so brainwashed into believing that cookouts must consist of the previously mentioned over-rated, over-used foods. Blech!!!!

Haha, watch it with the yummy recipes or our lunch in October might be cooked by YOU... I'm just sayin'
Sounds delish! I'm still faithful to George for some reason. Oh, wait--I know the reason. I'm friggin HUNGRY when I cook, so I never want to wait to actually make something more than merely edible. That, and I'm a lazy cook to boot.
This challenge was a great idea, I agree. James picked a winner with this one.

I didn't want to hijack Paula's log, so I thought I'd reply here ... nope ... I've never competed in anything other than team sports (swimming, softball, basketball, field hockey, soccer) ... I've never been much of a runner. I was way into mountain biking in PT school, and have a good friend who races, and she was always trying to get me to go, but I always felt that adding in the competition would ruin biking for me, so I never did it. This will be my first road race EVER!!!
I think they said that there will be food there after, but I'm going to bring my own, since it likely will be fruit and other carby stuff that I can't have. Plus I'll have to bring snacks for my girls ... and beverages ... good thing I'll be pushing the cart!!!

Good job making decisions and getting some exercise in! Somedays I just like making it fit into my life rather than making my life fit into my exercise.

Ooooh...you are the sneaky one, aren't you! Cooking can be arranged...or I could just kidnap Julie and have her cook for us......as long as she doesn't bring those pink polka dot plates! Either way, I want to be served, dammit!
Julie, my first event like this, too. I'm looking forward to it!

Brenda, I couldn't agree more. I think that's the trick!

Today's workout:
TT DB-BW FUSION FAT LOSS PROGRAM
Level 1, Workout B-3
18 June 2007
Warm-up: 5 min. on tready...Walking lunges, Toy soldiers, Side lunge reach, Knee push-ups, Prisoner squats
Superset (no rest btw exs., 1 min. btw sets):
DB Split Squat (3x8): 8 @ 20# dbs, 8 @ 20#, 8 @ 20#
Y's & T's (3x12): 12 @ BW, 12 @ BW, 12 @ BW
Superset (no rest btw exs., 1 min. btw sets):
DB Chest Press (3x8): 8 @ 22.5# dbs, 8 @ 22.5#, 8 @ 22.5#
Inverted Row, Beginner (3x10): 12 @ BW, 12 @ BW, 12 @ BW
I was able to push out all 3 sets of rows without stopping!
Superset (no rest btw exs., 1 min. btw sets):
DB Close-Grip 1-Arm Standing Shoulder Press (3x8): 8 @ 20# dbs, 8 @ 20#, 8 @ 20
1-Leg Deadlift (3x12): 12 @ BW, 12 @ BW, 12 @ BW
I don't seem to have very good ROM with the 1-leg DLs.
Notes: I left my workout log at work today so I'm not sure of some of the numbers. Tried to enter by memory. My energy was low this morning. I had to decrease some of the weights just so I could get through it. I suspect its my chronic under-eating haunting me again. I'm going to start tracking my food again to see where I stand.

I agree that lack of enough food can make lifting difficult. I believe in trying to eat several small meals, spreading the calories out across several times.
I like the one-legged work -- my experience is that these are good "real life" exercises, helping you in movements you are likely to do more often. Even though, they are by far some of my least favorite exercises to do.

Today's Cardio:
19 June 2007
HIITs on the treadmill (I don't think it was quite HIIT worthy but...)
60 sec on @ 3 mph, 15% incl./60 sec off @ 3 mph, 2% incl.
6 times
I did this all at a walk just to see how challenging it would be. I'm guessing it was probably around 70%-80% so definitely not HIIT, but a good workout just the same. The 60 sec off was probably more like 45 sec by the time the treadmill got itself back down to 2%. I sweated!

It looks like we should be okay tomorrow evening ... we're supposed to have thunderstorms tonight and the first half of tomorrow, but it should clear out by afternoon and be partly sunny by late afternoon! It would not be FUN in the rain!! (In fact if it were raining, I was going to suggest going to sign in to collect our T-Shirts then going somewhere for a snack or cup of coffee!! )

I would never wear the shirt from a race that I DNF. especially if I didn't even TRY!
I can understand not wanting to get wet, but getting the shirts first? LOW.
I agree with LD

Oops, Ok, in Julie's defense (and mine for that matter), she was teasing, as was I. But, I apologize if it was taken the wrong way...especially during this challenge where everyone is working so hard. There will be none of that going on tomorrow night, I promise. I meant it when I said I was looking forward to this event, and I know Julie does too. I'll even bring my camera and take pics of the event for proof. Does that sound OK with everyone? Apologies accepted?
