TT DB-BW FUSION FAT LOSS PROGRAM
Level 1, Workout A-2
6 June 2007
Superset (no rest btw exs., 1 min. btw sets)
DB Squat (3x8): 8 @ 20# dbs, 8 @ 20#, 8 @ 20# (+5)
Elevated push-up (3x8): 8 @ BW, 5,3(kneeling) @ BW, 5,3(k) @ BW
I decided to try the pushups full, first. Got through the 1st set, then had to drop to knees during 2nd & 3rd sets. So what!
Superset:
DB Row (3x8): 8 @ 25#, 8 @ 25#, 8 @ 25# (+5)
SB Leg Curl (3x15): 15 @ BW, 15 @ BW, 15 @ BW
Those SB leg curls are not as easy as one might think!
Superset:
Split Squat, front foot elevated (3x8): 8 @ 15#, 8 @ 15#, 8 @ 15#
DB Rear Delt Raise (3x10): 10 @ 10#, 10 @ 10#, 10 @ 10# (+2)
Notes: I started increasing weights. Obviously more challenging. My body is already starting to feel beat up a little. I wanted to do only 2 RT sessions/week but CB mentioned that it would only by 80% or so as effective as 3x/week. So, of course I had to go for the 3. I may do only 2 HIIT sessions/week. That would give me 2 full days to recover each week instead of one. Yeah, I want to push myself to reach lofty goals, but I also want to feel good and enjoy it in the meantime.

Nice job V! Yes, rest is good. I think although it may not be BEST for keeping EPOC elevated and for maximum fat loss, I am going to do better with doing EST and weights on the same day. Then instead of one full day off per week, I get 4.

Nice workouts Victoria. I didn't read all the way back but is this your first venture with a TT workout? I get the newsletters and use many of the nutrition and workout tips but never followed one of his programs step by step. Good Luck in the challenge.

Yep...first time doing TT. I was attracted to the programs because they were geared toward the "busy" person. I have limited time in the mornings for my workouts, so it seemed a perfect fit. I like them so far, but am going to give them a few full weeks before forming my final opinion. I'm an NROL fan but thought I'd give these a try. Thanks for stopping by!

I am with you on the TT workouts being good for the "busy" person. I will be using a TT bodyweight workout program for those days when I don't seem to have enough time for my regular NROL workouts.

Victoria -
I also think that you've made a good choice. I do the TT bodyweight workouts when I travel and have been focusing on NROL when I'm not. I like the mix.

I've been looking at the 6-month bodyweight program. Why I don't know. And, I thought the Hypertrophy and Strength programs in NROL looked intimidating to me. This BW program looks like pure hell! I just might have to try it. There's something about using only your body to kick your own ass that really turns me on!

I have looked at a great many of Craigs programs. I like the mix of NROL with TT bodyweight or DB fusion while you are travelling. Egham, I think you are onto somethin good.
Don't be intimidated Vic...you can handle it. Learn what you don't know how to do, focus on good movements, work within your limits and above all HAVE FUN.

Go ahead and try it. Yes, these workouts do kick your butt, but they sure seem to work.

I agree, Newman. So far, I like the idea of this combo...NROL + TT BW. Thanks for the reassurance, too!

Today's Workout: *Sigh*...I bagged my scheduled HIIT workout today. I slept poorly and not long enough. With my long commute in stop-and-go highway traffic, I have to be careful about being overly tired when I drive. On more than one occasion I've had to fight falling asleep behind the wheel, so now I'm very careful about trying to get enough sleep each night. And, sometimes the morning workouts have to be sacrificed. I'm glad that it wasn't the RT workout at least.
Yesterday's eats: On track. Although, I may have to rethink my fruit shakes. I think the sugar spikes me slightly. So, I'll look into some other "anytime" recipes and try that.

Nice workouts and good job recognizing your body's signs wrt the fruit shakes. What kinds of fruit are you using? Maybe just cutting back would help?

HIIT is usually the first thing I bag when I'm severely short on sleep. I'm not sure exactly why, beyond it probably being a motivational thing. I actually seem to sleep better nights when I'm hittin' up HIIT consistently. Distance running seems to have this effect too, but not to the same extent as HIIT.

This is what I'll be doing over the summer ... I might have to modify a bit, or get DH to hang a bar for me to chin and such off ... but mostly looks doable ...
Have you been running? I did sprints this morning in the driveway ... not sure if that will help in 12 short days or not!!

Brenda, shakes are usually either mixed berries or berries and banana. I usually count that as my 1 or 2 servings of fruit for the day.
Egham, I usually put more value on my sleep than workouts which is why it might be so easy to skip one for me.
Julie, run all you want. This body does not run unless absolutely necessary, like life or death. I will be proudly walking. But, actually, if you want to run, I'll push the cart full of kids and catch up with you every now and then. Are you going to get the TRX thingy for the lake?
