Today's Nutrition:

Total calories: 1601
Protein: 43%
Fat: 36%
Carbs: 22%

Notes: My goal this week is to reach 1600 cals per day which is 100 cals more a day than last week. I think the easiest way to do that is to simply increase the amount of meat I eat at one of my meals. So, 4 oz of chicken breast might become 6 oz. This way I only have to worry about one food. I did that tonight, it worked out well.

Default Week 3 - TT for Female Strength - Day 3

Thanks, Jill!!!!

Today's workout

TT For Female Strength: How to Get Lean & Do Your First Chin-Up!

Phase 1 (4 Weeks)
Workout B-4
29 August 2007

Warm-Up:
5 min. on tready
Y-Squats - 10 reps
Pushups - 6 reps
Bird Dog (5 sec hold) - 5 reps/side
2x

Workout:
(Supersets with 60 sec. rest, all weights in DBs)

1A) Assisted Chin-Up 3x6xBW
1B) Split Squat w/ Front Foot Elevated (3x8x30) (+5#)

2A) Push-Ups (AMAP) 10, 8, 6,
2B) 1-Leg RDL (3x8x30) (+5#)

I realized I was getting a bit quick on the tempo. So, I turned on the metronome again and suddenly my 21 pushups became 10. Lowering for a 3-second count is not that easy.

3A) SB Rollout (3x12xBW)
3B) Ys & Ts (3x15x3) (+3#)

A little bit of weight on the Ys & Ts makes those suckers burn!

Notes: I'm starting to max out on my dumbbells again. I'll have to buy some 35s.

------------------------------------------

Short-Term Goal Summary: Week 3, Day 3

Goal #1 - Quantitative Measures every 2 weeks: 0/0
Goal #2 - Record Calories each day on Fitday: 2/7
Goal #3 - Pack Food 2 Days per Week: 2/5

Fitness Summary:

Resistance Training (3/wk): 2/3
HIIT Training (2/wk): 1/2
"Other" Training (1/wk): 0/1
Recovery (1/wk): 0/1

Notes: 2 out of 21 days of food packed!!!

Looking great. I am laughing because your warm-up is probably more than the average person does for a workout. LOL

Great workout, Victoria! It sure does make a difference when you lower yourself to a 3 count in push-ups.....One of those things you really don't think about until you try a few.

Well done Victoria - you probably are getting more results with those 10 slow pushups than the 21 fast ones. Way to work smarter (and harder)!

I actually have gotten to like the warm-ups. They put me in the right frame of mind when the last thing I want to do is be physical at 6:00 in the morning!

I agree. I really need to re-check my tempo on all my exercises, then things will really get interesting!

I'm not quite getting through them yet, but I hope to by the time I complete the program in a couple of weeks. They are tough for me and I feel them all week long.

Speaking of timing and pushups....Workout B of the August TT workout includes 2 "Pushup holds" in the last set (a triset). I wondered why, at first, only 2. You hold for 15 sec at the top and 5 sec at the bottom. At that point of the workout, 2 are plenty!

Neat idea to use the metronome for timing. It's not just for torturing young musicians any more!

Those slow pushups are brutal. Congrats for getting through those and for getting so disciplined on them.

That metronome is a great idea. I guess I'd have to find a music store to get one.

That's funny...I did the exact same thing when I was looking at the program. I thought, "hmpf...only 2 pushups? No problem!"

Thanks, Bill. 3 seconds never felt so long!

Here's the metronome I have. It's nothing fancy but it is effective. $13.50 on Amazon, Greg. I actually like using it. It's kind of zen-like and really puts me in a zone.

Today's Nutrition:

Total calories: 1793
Protein: 36%
Fat: 27%
Carbs: 36%

Notes: Had a cheat meal tonight. I was really hungry so I thought it would be a good time to cheat. It wasn't terrible, I had whole grain pasta with tomato sauce that I dolled up with chicken chunks, and chopped broccoli, mushrooms, and onion. It was yummy, and it was a little more than a serving. And, I'm full!

I'm finally working from home tomorrow. I'm extremely happy about it. Tonight's ride from hell....1 frikin' hour to go 6 frikin' exits! 60 minutes of 5 mph...it was completely painful! Then another hour the rest of the way. Unbelievable. Tomorrow night will surely be another nightmare. Thankfully I won't be any part of it!!!
