Today's workout:
TT DB-BW FUSION FAT LOSS PROGRAM
Level 2, Workout A-6
1 August 2007
Warm-up: 5 min. on tready...Walking lunges, Toy soldiers, Side lunge reach, Knee push-ups, Prisoner squats
Unilateral Stuff: R, L, R
Specific Warm-Ups: 2 sets (8 reps each) of each exercise @ 50%, 75% set weight for all exercises using 50# or more.
Chin-Up Work:
Advanced Inverted Rows (8x3): On hold...I think I've found another TT workout that incorporates chin-up work in it. So, I think I'll do that next.
Regular Work:
Superset (no rest btw exs., 1 min. btw sets):
* DB Squat (3x8): 8 @ 30# dbs, 8 @ 30#, 8 @ 30# (+2.5#)
Spiderman Push-up (3x8): 8 @ BW, 8 @ BW, 8 @ BW
*(Sub'd split squats).
Squats feel pretty strong. I need 35# dbs! Did all spiders, still just a tad of ache in shoulder.
Superset (no rest btw exs., 1 min. btw sets):
DB Incline Press (3x8): 10 @ 32.5# dbs, 10 @ 32.5#, 8 @ 32.5# (+2 reps)
* Chin-Up (3x8): 8 @ 90#, 8 @ 90#, 8 @ 90# (+5#)
*(Sub'd Underhand Grip Pull-downs-kneeling). Since I don't have 35# dbs yet, I increased challenge in the presses by adding 2 reps to each set. Only got 8 in the last set.
Superset (no rest btw exs., 1 min. btw sets):
*DB RDL (3x8): 8 @ 20# dbs, 8 @ 20#, 8 @ 20#
Decline Push-up (3x12): 12 @ BW, 12 @ BW, 12 @ BW
*(Sub'd single-leg RDLs) I started the RDLs with 32.5 dbs and didn't like how it felt on my back. It wasn't pain of any kind, just a warm, tugging feeling, if that makes sense. No need to take any chances so I did them single leg at 20#. And, actually it's good for my balance anyway. My left leg struggles more with it.
Notes: Overall my energy was a bit low today. I've had 3 nights in a row now where I haven't slept well so I think it's catching up with me. This was my last "A" workout for this program. Friday will be my last "B" workout then I'm done with this one.

Hey Vic,
Workouts are looking great! Hope all is well on your end. Any thoughts on finding another riding instructor?

Oh, don't I wish! There used to be a woman who worked at my firm (before my time) that, legend has it, would take a power nap every afternoon by crawling under her desk, curling up on the floor and resting her head on the bookshelf that was under there. That story is still being told to this day. Nah....I don't want to be what legends are made of! Seriously, just not feasible with my long day of commuting and work.

I found an 8-week program called "TT for Female Strength: How to Get Lean & Do Your First Chin-Up." It has the chin-up work built right into it. Plus I like the 8-week programs. So that's what I'm doing next. Your August TT program looks great, can't wait for you to start!

Nothing yet. I guess I'm just taking a break. I think this fall I'll start trying to find a different trainer and see how that goes. I still hop on our horse now and then for an easy ride. But, I am anxious to get under instruction again.
Another very crappy night of sleep! I woke up at 3:00, and laid there tossing and turning until almost 6:00...when my alarm goes off!!! I'm so freakin' pissed about it! And, that only gets me more wired. I even took a couple valerians before going to bed. It's these damn hormones...urgh, sometimes I really hate being a woman! Now I have to manage to get through the long day with a groggy and foggy head! whatever....

Are you taking a magnesium/calcium supplement? I have read that magnesium before bed can help ... I have this same problem and have been sleeping like crap the past few nights (waking up a lot ... total time in bed is sufficient, but waking so much makes me tired and foggy in the morning ... and crabby for most of the day!!).

I found the cure for insomnia:
A tempurpedic bed! I am sleeping at least 6 solid hours a night now--for me, that's a HUGE deal. Also, I have no window coverings yet, so I have high hopes for sleeping in for real on the weekends when I get 'em.

Julie, thanks for that reminder. I actually have the stuff...I just didn't keep taking it. But, I'll start again. When I did take it, it seemed to make a difference. Reminder to self....tonight pop some ZMA...
Tina, I DO sleep on a tempurpedic. Sometimes it only takes the littlest thing to snap me out of sleep. If it's not the resident skunk squirtting his self and stinking up the place, it's the baby in the house behind us crying on schedule, or the cat jumping up on the bed and walking all over me, or the rice burner zooming up our street, or the full bladder, or.....(sigh)! It just goes on and on!

Your 8-week program sounds interesting! Do you have a link to it by chance?
I'm currently in NROL break-in and will transition into the FL workouts soon. I figure by the time I have those nailed, I will be ready for NROL for Women (whatever that might consist of!). But, I'd still like to see your workout because a chin-up is something I can only dream of at this point!

Well, I downloaded it as part of my paid membership so I can't give you a link to the workout itself. You'd have to join the TT website for access to the workouts. I'm anxious to see NROL 4 Women, too. I think I might try that to start off the new year. I think Lou mentioned the last phase of the 6-month progression is geared toward strength and us girls doing chin-ups by the end of it. Either way, I'm going to nail that chin-up if it kills me!!!

I've already pre-ordered NROL4W from Amazon ... can't wait for it to get here. I've corresponded with Cass Forsythe over a few things and she's super-nice and very helpful. Plus I love the way that Lou Schuler writes ... and Alwyn's workouts are devil's spawn ... it was a no-brainer!!

I'm especially interested in the nutrition part of the book. Julie, do you have an idea of how it's presented? I know in the thread about the book Lou mentions a modular type system. Sounds interesting.
So, Julie, thanks again for the suggestion. I took some ZMA last night and slept right through...finally! But, a couple times throughout the night I woke up, barely semi-conscious, to the sentation of a bug crawling on my arm. So, in my half-comatose state, I brushed the bug off. When I did this the third time, it woke me up completely (luckily it was time to get up anway). Once I realized that I was not dreaming this all night, I looked over the side of my bed onto the floor, and sure enough, there WAS a bug. I suspect the very same one I'd been shooing off me all night. He looks something like this....just a bit squished--I gave him a good ol' smack with my flip-flop (now I feel bad )!
I mean, WTF.....this is what I go through, people! He could have been sucking my blood all night for crap's sake!
Yeah...I can't wait to see what tonight brings!

I've killed a couple of those here recently...
At least you don't live in Birmingham, AL or other deeper South environs. Mrs. Eghams' story of waking up to a Palmetto Bug (huge roach) under her sheets one night when she was living in her old apartment there.........

Once I had a sock lump. For hours I had it. It was so annoying. I took off my shoe to fix the sock lump. No lump. Bug. Living.
