I need a harder one ... mine is the white foam kind and it's really too soft for me now.

BTW - I hate the foam roller, it makes me want to cry. I can't even put my full weight on ITB
Try using a tennis ball on those tender spots, but sandwich it between your leg and the wall (standing up). This way you can control the pressure much better and as the triggers get worked out, you can tolerate more pressure. It WILL get better ... I used to be like you and now I need a harder roller!! (and I love the lacrosse ball!)

for some reason, my left TFL is very sore this morning when walking (and to the touch/prod) - guess it got a workout when other things were having DOMS? I'll try the lacrosse or tennis ball on the wall tonight.
I'm sure I could figure a way to use bands and eat danish at the same time - sweet bready things are my downfall (well, one of them).
But not today.
We've decided to go with an undulating diet plan for the next little while. This week the most lenient of the plan but still a deficit. Breakfast was in line, lunch was both packed & brought to work so there is a good chance it will be eaten.
My knee was a little odd feeling yesterday (before playing with the bands) - rt knee just medial to the patella felt squishy when walking - hard to explain. It's all gone this morning so should be on track for a workout of some sort tonight.
I got the "off hours" schedule for work for my next few months - mostly some Thursday nights until May, then some midnight-8AM Saturdays into the mix - so it looks like other than Thursdays, I'll be able to stick to a workout schedule. Probably twice a week weights, mobility on the others, daily walks, and on the more lenient eating weeks more intense cardio, less cardio on the weeks with a higher deficit.
dessert: rooibos chai/matevana blend - with a touch of half-n-half & a drop of sweetzfree
very tasty - much better than plain - plain I would have needed to let it steep half again as long I think to get the flavor out
(and I never sweeten or take cream in tea)

I used to drink a fair bit of tea, not really sure why I stopped. I do know that just a touch of sweetness often brings the flavour out better than just taking it on its own.
who me?
Still have the remnants of this stupid cold but mostly all better. Foam rolling still hurts. Stretching more - but am still "tight". Weight is moving downward. Strength workout on the schedule for tonight. Having some Teavana tea each evening as a dessert.

I have five flavors (all gifts) so I guess those are my favorites. I have: Empress of China, Earl Grey Vanilla, Ginger Peach Apricot, Rooibos Chai + Matevana, Lapsong Souchong.
my diet is pretty low carb right now and I'm finding that a cup of tea with a little cream & sweetener (sugar or honey) makes for a dessert satisfaction and good sleep. But during the day I am a straight tea maybe with lemon drinker. Go figure.
I need to make my own Teavana order - some of the classic teas without the flowers/spices as well - oolong, darjeeling, straight Earl Grey (OK, it has bergemot but is a classic), English Breakfast and so on. And a Perfect Tea. I'm currently brewing in one mug and straining into another.

Oops, yes, you--I shoulda put your name in there .
Glad you're feeling better and the cold is on it's way out.
Re: foam rolling. I hated it the first month or so and I wondered why anyone would torture themselves like that on purpose. Now, I love it and use it to work on other pains. Sorry it isn't getting better yet.
