So, I have decided that I need to start a training log again. The last one I did here was pretty popular and to be honest....it does help me to stay focused.
To be blunt, I have gotten weak and I attribute it to a few things:
1. Not training at South Side anymore. THE best gym I have ever trained at, and I miss it. I don't miss almost killing myself doing chain suspended good mornings and not realizing one of the chains wasn't attached and nearly crushing myself with 470 lbs on my back, but I do miss it nonetheless.
2. Working at the club where I work now, and thus being forced to train there twice a week. Call me crazy, but training with Ashley Simpson on the radio and a bunch of self absorbed women wearing freakin sunglasses in the gym while they "workout," isn't quite the training environment I like.
3. Lack of calories. It is SUPER hard to get calories in during the day while at work. The employee lounge is on the third floor, and they don't allow us to bring food on the fitness floor, so it's really hard to eat in between clients. I have been forced to live off of protein bars and protein shakes while at work, and it sucks.
In any case, it's time to hunker down and get back to bidness. As of right now, I am training where I work twice a week and at Excel twice a week (on the weekends). Thankfully Eric and the football guys are now training on both Saturday and Sunday, so I am able to jump in with them now.
The goal now is to just get some of my size back and to just get stronger.....
While Eric worked with Antwan and Jazz (both preping for the combine) doing some jump re-testing (broad jump, single leg triple jumps, vertical jumps), I got started with some back squats.
A goal of mine back in the day was to FULL squat 300 lbs. I will try to provide a video of what I consistute as a full squat, but suffice it to say, I hit 315 today (albeit it wasn't too pretty).
A. Back Squats:
Bar x whatever
135x6
185x4
225x3
275x1
300x1
310x1
315x1
Just to get some more reps in (boy those Spike Shooters work!!!!!)
255x3,3,3,3,3
B. Deadlifts
***I had pulled from a deficit earlier in the week for some heavy singles, so I just wanted to get a few quick sets in and focus on some bar speed with heavier weight.
364x3,3,3,3
C. GHR (+5 lb plate)
10,10,8,8
D. Walking Lunges
80x7,6,6,6
By the time I was done, Eric was doing some sled dragging and I contemplated jumping in, but decided I would rather drink a bucket of my own vomit than drag the sled
seriously dude, i attract the CRAZY girls. i was just talking to a friend (girl) about it the other day. One girl was this chick who would stare at me constantly, in a creepy sort of way. Another is a coke head, and the third is this chick who got pregnant twice (she's 19), and just got the husband thrown in jail for sposual abuse when preganant... but she still loves him.

Cool man, looking forward to seeing what your training looks like. And maybe for some motivation it's time for a new avatar, your armpit hair is giving me nightmares.

Yeah, you're right. I DO need to change the avatar. I need to show the legs again
Tony, you always make me smile, so I'll be following your log ... and razzing you along with everyone else!
I used to live in Boston (Sommerville, Arlington, Beacon Hill) and worked in the 'burbs (Concord, and Lexington) ... where is the gym where you work? I know where Excel is as you can see it from 128 ...

I feel you Tony. At times we all gotta resort to chowing down those Greens+ high protein bars while the next client warms up and trying to shovel down a handful of mixed nuts during their rest intervals
Good luck on the next phase.

I'm picturing Chris wearing these really baggy track pants with giant pockets which he fills with mixed nuts and cruciferous veggies!!

Before I answer some of the questions, I need to make sure I jot down yesterday's training session. HA! Take that Zach!
1. I was able to re-charge my iPod thankfully, so I didn't have to suffer through Gwen Steffani and The Pussycat Dolls.
2. I am probably the only male in the country who hates benching. I suck at it. Hence why I hate it....;o)
A. Pin Press (haven't done these in ages and figured I would give them a shot. I am sooooooo weak off the chest when I press, so I am trying to include more work that will help improve my starting strength off the chest)
Bar x whatever
95x5
135x5
185x3
205x3
225x1
245x1
250x1 (right shoulder felt funny, so I didn't want to go further)
225x1,1,1
***While "resting" I did some x-band walks to look cool.
B1. Floor Press
205x6,6,6,6
B2. Seated Rows (v-grip_
220x8,8,8,6
C1. Hammer Strength Pulldowns (I am such a bodybuilder)
What's the issue with not able to eat during the work day? Are you non-stop with clients?
Exactly. The employee lounge is FAR away from the fitness floor, so it's pretty much impossible for me to warm up some chicken and veggies between clients. And often times, I have like 4-5 clients in a row so I have to resort to eating homemade protein bars or Metabolic Drive bars. It sucks.

I work at the Sportsclub/LA right in downtown Boston. Right off of Tremont steet, above the Loew's theater.

I need to get me some Greens+ and start adding it to my protein bars. Be honest........does it taste like death or worse, broussel spouts?
