7.16.07
Weight:181.5
Day 2 of 5 day "off" cycle
Power Cleans
worked up to 165x1-15 lb PR
Hit a 125 Military Press, which is a 15 lb PR
Eliptical HIIT
5 min warm-up
30 sec work/90 sec easyx5
3 min cool down
Total Time:18 min
Comments:
-the program allows 2 days of HIIT during the 5 day off period, so I did one today. Also did a little bit of weights. Although lifting isn't called for, I'm sure that 6 reps won't make a difference.
-I haven't done HIIT in a long time, so this kicked my ass. Felt good.
-tomorrow will probably be a full off day.

7.17.07
Weight:181
Day 3 of 5 day "off" cycle
bored as hell,so decided to go in..
BB Bench Press
1xwhateverxbar
1x5x95
1x3x135
1x2x155
1x2x185-these dont count as the spotter didn't let go of the bar.
2xFx200-see below
Front Squats
1xwhateverxbar
1x3x135
1x1x155
1x1x185
1x1x205-matches PR
1x1x22520 lb PR
some heavy pull-ups
Comments:
-I'm not supposed to lift today, but I went in anyway. I'm sure that 10 reps of bench and 7 squat reps won't kill me.
-I woulda gotten 200 the first time if the spotter hadn't touched it. I was strong off the chest, and gotto my usual sticking point, where my right side shoots up and my left lags. I was pushing thru, when he decided to grab the bar. Oh well. Next time for sure.
-225 was hard as hell, and a bit ugly, but I got it. I thought I was doing 215 at the time, but when I was unracking it, I saw I put on 10s instead of 5s, making it a 2 plate front squat.
-not sure what I'm gonna do next. I want to cut for a month, but at the same time I want to get stronger and actually bench 200..

Didn't you just cut??
Bulk up for a year or two, then worry about the fat. Eat big and work hard and dont even think about it. bulking/cutting can sometimes be taking 2 steps forward and one back.

I cut awhile back, maybe april? I've been doing some heavy bulking since then. Besides from that month, I've been eating big, and have gained about 45 lbs..the problem is that I'm getting to the point where all my pants are getting a bit too tight, which is my way of knowing its time to lean up.
I can probably get some nice results this time, the first time I cut I did it like an idiot, not enough food, bad training. We'll see what happens..

pants being tight doesn't mean you need to "lean up." Your hips and ass are going to naturally get bigger the more you squat and do lower body work. People who squat good amounts of weight have big legs, a thick waist/midsection (not necessarly fat, but thick), and a big ass.
Just because pants don't fit for you don't mean you're getting fat. It could mean you're gaining more muscle.
But if you want to cut, do what you want. But i agree w/ frank.

Yep, I wore pants with a 30-31 inch waist before lifting, after not to long.. I could cut all my fat off and not have a hope of fitting in them. Waist got bigger, but also ass did.
If you do cut.. you can still gain strength while cutting.. I just recomend you take it really damn slow and let your workouts take off the lbs.

I know waht you guys are saying..I'm at the point where none of my jeans fit b.c they are too tight in the legs or the ass.
I know I'm gaining muscle as I hit a 200 lb Front Squat PR yesterday and all my lifts are up. But I'm also gaining fat at the same time.
I may try to maintain for a month and work on strength.(low reps, ect.)

Comments:
-Wow. Workouts like this make me want to keep bulking. I went in to do HIIT, and came out with a monster w/o
-today was supposed to be the final rest day, but I said fuck it and lifted
-Box Squats were nice, haven't done them in forever. Need a lower box, this one puts me an inch above parallel
-HIIT was weird as my elliptical sucked. good one was taken.
-Deads were great. I had stuggled with 275x4 before my trip, and smashed 305 today. Form is getting better.
-I think I have 355 in me, if I am fresh. Maybe sunday?
-I'll prolly squat and bench tomorrow.

Bent-Over Row
Hang Clean
Front Squat/Push Press
Jump Squat
Good Morning
^4 sets with 90 sec rest.
Comments:
-wow, my back/hammies were destroyed.
-The cut started today. This shouldn't be that hard, considering I ate whatever the hell I wanted to in Israel and lost weight. I'm just gonna lower carbs. Thats it. For the workouts, I'll do heavy weight+metabolic work.
-The benching was OK. Only problem is, I have to do it in the power rack, which makes it hard to unrack. I'll do flat bench or DBs next time.
-the complex was fucking hard. I should've done 75 lbs, though. I had to take breaks in the middle.

Romanian Deadlift

Reverse Lunge
^4 sets with 90 sec rest. First 2 sets with 75 lb Barbell, last 2 with 85 barbell
Comments:
-I think I'm gonna stick to this for a while. Total body 3x a week, with some metabolic/HIIT at the end. 1 leg movement1, 1 push, and 1 pull.
-Rows were pretty good. 155 is the most I've ever done, so I'll take it.
-the complex wasn't that bad. Still sucked, but it didn't kill me like friday's. I upped the weight to 85, and that made it a bit better. The only thing that's really tough is the damn push press.
-I just found out that my house is being tented. I'm gonna stay with a friend later this week. It'll be tough to eat right, but I'll try.
-some form of cardio tomorrow.

well, this was kinda a spur-of the moment thing, I had 305 on, just added 25s for the hell of it. It maybe got an inch of the floor, which usually happens. If I can get it to my shins/knees, I'm good. I'm sure if I focused on deads, I could get this in 2 weeks, but I'm not. It'll go up next time I do a "strength" phase.

IMO, focus on things like deep front squats, and deep oly squats, like you're doing. Really focus on improving these. They will really help you get the leg drive you need to get the bar moving to your knees. And if your lockout is good, then you should be good. This is what really helped me. When the weights got heavier, i used to stiff leg it because my squat sucked, and my quads, and they weren't strong enough to get the weight moving. Now that my squat's moving up, i don't have a problem.
