Thanks! I hear from Cornell 5PM on wednesday, which kinda sucks as it is a jewish fast day and we get out at 1230 instead of 4. So, I'm going to be sitting home the entire day agonizing about my decision. and, I can't eat/drink/lift to distract myself. So, the break the fast meal is either going to be very good, or very bad.

Congratulations!! Chicago is an awesome school and a great city. I'm still holding out hope for you for Cornell, too... I'm from that area and still have a bunch of friends in Ithaca. Either way, you'll have some fun adjusting to the snow.

thanks!

I love the city of Chicago--no other city where I would rather be. This reminds me of my Chicago interview though:

Interviewer:So, what do you think of the city of chicago?
me: It's a great city, truly one of the cultural centers of our country, ect.
her: well, you're going to be too busy with schoolwork to enjoy it!

Only visited it on one occasion and spent a few days there. Totally impressed by the city. I've discovered that I like a lot of cities, just not that really big one that's half an hour from me

Ha! Well, that's fairly true, but when I was going to school there, I still managed to get out and see the town a bit. Senior year my roommates and I got season tickets to the Chicago Symphony. I got a job and stayed the summer after I graduated, and without the school pressure, I got out to see all the stuff I missed -- the art institute, field museum, Sears tower, etc.

Ithaca is, well... um... not Chicago! Most of the stuff in town revolves around the university. But New York's Southern Tier and the Finger Lakes are my very favorite areas.

ah, NOW I have a reason to go to UChicago!:

But in all seriousness, if I don't get into cornell and I find out a way to get kosher food at Chicago, I'm probably going there.

Training Update:
I'm not really cutting. I need more size for flag football(yes, flag). Trying to eat healthier though, and not be such a fatass.

I'm trying something new--some program on the internets called DC training. You train half your body each workout, doing only one double rest-paused set for each body part. Yes, I know it is a "bro" workout. But, people tend to like it, and it'll be good to have a change of pace.

I lifted on wed, but don't remember my #'s. here's today

Preacher Curl-biceps
Bar+40x12+3+2 for a total of 17

Alternating DB Curlz-forearms
35ex8+3+2 for a total of 13

Seated Calf Raise
115x13+5+2-20

Leg Curl
105x14+3+2-19

Squat-2 sets--one heavy, and one for reps
1x7x225
1x13x185
Squats were weaker, as my legs were already fatigued.

football game+lifting today.

Game:
this team was beatable. A bunch of skinny wannabe "gangsters" that were about our game. We started off good--we were up by a TD at halftime. But they came back, and we found ourselves down by 7 with 2 minutes left. We drove until we were about 15 yards from the end zone, then our Q threw a INT. game over, 27-20 them.

I was absolutely pissed after the game. Mostly because we could've won, and we let them take the game from us in the 2nd half. Also, because their team was a bunch of whiny bitches.

3 of their touchdown were on bullshit plays: 2 long balls and one screen pass fro 40+yds. It's frustrating to play defensive line and put on good pressure to see your secondary blow their assignments.

I played OK. blocked well, and put some pressure on the QB. Also got my first TD of the season.

****************

Workout

BB Bench Press
155x15+2+1 18 total

NG DB Military Press
40ex8+2+12 12t

Skullcrusher
65x7+2+1 10t

Underhand-Grip Lat pulldown
137.5x13+3+4 20

Deadlift
275x10

Good workout. Maybe I'll lift tomorrow.

We're actually trying to implement more screen passes that go to me when they do an all-out blitz, so I should get some more touches. But I'll take a win before a TD any day!

Comments:
-good workout.
-Everything is going really well in general, both inside and outside of the gym. The UChicago acceptance has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders and allowed me to chill out a bit. I can afford to take it easy in school; I just have to pass my classes and hose the AP tests. Just waiting for Cornell on wed., after I find out about that I should have a pretty good idea what I'm doing next year.
-I'll prolly do some cardio tomorrow. Wed. is a fast day, so I'll hit the weights on thursday.

Glad to hear things are going well! I hear ya on the college thing. It's peace of mind knowing that I'm going to a good school. I'm still waiting on Villanova, which I'm pretty sure is my #1 right now. Also will have to wait until March to hear back from Notre Dame. I think that's more of the "I just want to get in" mentality. I'm confident that if I can get into 2 greats schools (and hoping to hear from a third in a few days) through their early programs, I can make it into ND through regular. I pulled off a very nice first quarter and on my way to a just as impressive 2nd quarter for a very very good first semester, so that will look good. Plus, I just was named a Bloustein scholar which is a state thing so I can add stuff like that to an update. I have to look at each school again, see what each has to offer through their programs and figure out where I'm going. I've been relaxed about it the whole time, but it is definitely reassuring to get that official acceptance.

Good luck wherever you go!
