I actually put "running" as a extracurricular, as I have competed and placed in races. Can't hurt, right?

well, for sanctioned comps, they usually do a 24hr weigh in. If you're not cutting weight, i'm pretty sure you could just go and weigh in the day of the comp if you talked to the meet organizer, but i'm not sure.

I actually studied a lot for AP US, just b/c I loved the course and found it interesting.
I'm pretty much done with my early apps,(just submitted UF), so I'm just focusing on school now--trying to pull off a monster 1st trimester.

what AP course are you taken. And what scores did you get on them. ive found it easy to get by with minimal studying... I guess its just cause I am really good at taking test (2250 SAT and 32 ACT with no studying). I take/ have taken AP computer programing, AP Government, AP Calculus BC (and AB), AP biology, AP US, AP World, AP lit, AP lang, AP psych and AP chem
and the only test I wish I had studied for was Calc BC
I guess its good you study now. Cause I dont think i could if i tried
Might not be the best come college :-P

I'm not saying I'm perfect, cause I've been on and off in my lifting, but its a good 4 hours a week dedicated to lifting, exercising, mobility work, foam rolling, etc. That's some serious time commitment.

Very, very true, guys. I believe that learning to put consistent effort into a long-term process is one of the most valuable lessons we can get in life. It's amazing how many adults I see who want instant results with minimal effort in almost anything (my VP at work is one of them). It's ridiculous to see them avoiding anything that they can't accomplish in a week or two.
If there is no "other interests" section on your college apps, maybe you can work the weight training into the essay.

That's what I love about lifting--the challenge, and the fact that it takes a while to get results, which is rare in this age of instant gratification.
Some colleges have a question like "what do you do for fun?". Maybe I can work it in there, not sure if that's really the "right" answer.

You sure you're a HS senior? You're wise beyond your years.
Hmmm... I don't see why you couldn't use it for the "what do you do for fun" question. The people who read those apps are looking for someone who can think outside the box a little and not just say "Wii" or "TV" or a stock answer. Include a little more than just "weight training" -- mention monitoring your progress, learning about training methods, anatomy and exercise science, sharing your log in an online community, and (go for the clincher) achieving a long-term goal. That'll get their notice.

That will definitely be worked into my app. Great ideas, PA and RB!

-pretty good workout. Stronger on everything, I think.
-had extra time, so did some becnhing/squats.
-squats were pretty good, 265 wasn't that hard, even though I was pretty tired. I'm sure I'm capable of much more, I just need to get the techinique down.
-looking forward to this weekend--I can finally get some sleep.

Dang! Anti-powerlifting parents!
Did they give you any reasons why they might not let you do it?
