Wednesday August 29

Deadlifts
3x5 @ 245

Boy my strength sucks. I have a tad bit of soreness/tightness in my low back over the last couple days. Nothing major, just noticeable sometimes. Weird. (Hadn't deadlifted since Friday, and it wasn't an issue until Monday. The 9 hour shifts of sitting in one spot on Mondays probably aren't helping)

Neutral Grip Chins
3x5 @ +25

Visible results from the chinup program. Definitely wouldn't be getting that weeks ago.

Giant Set
Bulgarian Split Squats
3x10 @ 27.5 (EH)
Pushups
3x10 @ +45
Wide Grip Cable Rows
3x10 @ 150

Planks
2x55
Side Planks (the contraction part of the plank)
2x10

RE: pushups. The plates here are bigger so they slide down my back and onto my butt throughout the set. Not good. Going to have to figure out something here.

Saw a dude reading a Bible in the weight room today. Maybe he lifts more inspired by God? (sorry, classless joke, but a Bible in the gym? That's one thing I hadn't seen)

Three more classes and then a glorious four day weekend of golf, bowling, football, NASCAR and more football. Can't wait.

Sometimes I use a backpack for the pushups.

Friday August 31

Split Squats
3x5 @ 135

Yeah, had to move up. Maybe 145 next time

DB Bench
3x5 @ 80 (EH)

Can definitely get 85 next time.

Giant Set
RDLs
3x10 @ 175
Explosive pushups (palms off ground)
3x12
Inverted Rows
3x10

Side Planks
3x10
Lying Leg Raises
3x10

Good workout considering that I had golfed and bowled all day prior. Now it's off to the MU game. This is going to be, and has been, a great weekend.

strong workouts

and do you have access to chains or a weighted vest those are probably the two easier ways to add weight. If not the back pack does work

I wish it was bad ass, but with this place, it's weird. (Although I have to admit that the same people who I would be worried about thinking I am weird because I have a plate on my back are the same people that I normally would make fun of because of their stupid exercises. So.... why am I worried?)

Thanks D, even though I really don't think they're very strong. I'm going to stick out the whole giant set/intervals/whatever plan until Oct 13, and then I'm either doing a strength or hypertrophy one. I haven't done a dedicated get big/get strong (as the main goal) for a looooong time.

Well, the weekend was great, except for the dead battery in my car. (That's being fixed right now) And I was by myself for the last half of the weekend, so I had no transportation to the gym. Ended up doing a bodyweight circuit on Sunday and Monday in my room. However, that was easily negated by the crap eating of the weekend. I realize that it was a four day holiday weekend so I shouldn't be kicking myself too much, but Sunday was the only good whole day. I did well half of Monday, and then my morning and evening meals on Friday and Saturday, but that's still three rather large cheat meals this weekend. Not good.

So the short term goal is no cheating until next Sunday when all bets are off. Longer short term goal #1 is to look good the weekend of Sept 29-30, and the other one is to do well in the 5k on Oct 13.

With the beginning of football season, Sundays will be my big time cheat days, so I am going to need to keep clean the other six days of the week, which was my big problem last fall. I know it's possible to counteract the huge gorge on Sunday, but I have to be dedicated enough to do that. The last five months of clean eating have helped establish a baseline, but at the same time, I really didn't cheat all that much. The last month has been good, not great, and have probably cheated more since Aug 10 than I had from May to August. (Which is a testament to how locked in I got then)

Alright, enough rambling. I'm just killing time here at the rec center before class. (I am going to make sure not to give anyone the pleasure of sitting next to me today. Despite the body spray and deodorant I am sure I don't smell great)

Tuesday September 4

Deadlifts
3x5 @ 250

Neutral Grip Chins
3x5 @ +25

Giant Set
Bulgarian Split Squats
3x10 @ 27.5 (EH)
Pushups
3x12 @ +35
Wide Grip Rows
3x10 @ 150

Planks
2x55 seconds
Lunge twists (lunge position, hold the weight out in front and make a diagonal motion. It's hard to describe, but it was kind of like a cable woodchopper with a plate instead)
3x8 @ 25

I'm going to do intervals or a practice run tonight to help get this work week started off right. Gotta get back focused.
