The Road to Thermopylae
I am the first and so far only fool to join Johnka on his quest for a 20 minute "300" time. I'm old enough, 50, to know better, but here goes.
Saturday 03/31//07
218 lbs
5 Rounds for Time
Pull-ups- 5 reps
Dead lift lbs- 10 reps
Clean and Press-lb Dumbbells- 10 reps
Time 13:30
This is less than half of the workout and I used more than half the time, not a great start. I'm surprised at how sore my forearms are. Grip is definitely a factor here. I'll have to use that grip thing I have sitting on the floor of my truck while I commute. Nowhere to go but up.

Sunday 04/01/07
215 lbs
5 Rounds for Time
Push up- 10 reps
Box Jump-10 reps
Pull-ups 5 reps
Time 8:30
Rested and did 5 sets of 10 Floor Wipers
Pull-ups killed me today. I guess that I'm tired from yesterday's 25. Today I couldn't even get 5 consecutive reps, all 2s and 3s. Floor Wipers are some creation of the Devil or some Scottish maniac. Long way to go to 20 minutes.

GREAT log name, Bill!!
Good luck with the new program. I'm always impressed at your ability to really push yourself and go after a really challenging goal... and nailing it, too!

Nice work, Bill. I'm taking an indirect route to this challenge through CT's Fat loss Apocalypse workout, hopefully in a month or two I'll be up for a sub-20 minute 300 time, that would rock.

Looks good, Bill! Two consecutive days with pullups are always killers. I haven't even watched the floorwiper video yet.

Monday 04/02/07
215.5 lbs

No rest between exercises, 1 minute between rounds
Bench Press 185 lbs- 3 reps
Floor Wipers 135 lbs- 10 reps
Step-ups 20 lb DBs-10 reps
Rest 1 minute
Push ups 25reps/20 reps
I wanted to save my legs for basketball tomorrow. Push ups felt really easy after benching. I'm thinking about a trial run next week before the Summit. I'll post. Thanks for all the encouragement.

214.5 lbs
Basketball-6 full court games, ran my ass off. We started off with two subs on our team, but luck was with me. Yes, two guys got hurt so we had to give up our subs, happy days.
Pull-ups 7 sets of 5 reps.

Basketball-6 games, one on long court, five sideways. I made a huge tactical error tonight. I was on a really strong team with one sub to start the night. After an easy win I started sitting out the beginning of the second game when a group of guys came in late. I was drafted onto this new team and damn we were bad. All we needed was an elf who wanted to be a dentist and a prospector to be the "Land of the Forgotten Toys" team. The other teams were chosen to be fair, this team was thrown together by who was available. Five humiliating defeats later I left to drink beer. Lesson learned, never go out until all the late, no talent guys show up.
