Back in town now...
No workout today, sch off day. Diet was decent. I asked the flight attendant for a diet coke, she gave me regular. It was evident that she was having a bad day...so I drank it anyway. Lunch was a couple cheeseburgers low-carb style except I left the bottom part of the bun on since it was too hot to handle the patties alone.
All in all, pretty decent trip workout/nutrition-wise. Feel pretty good about the shape I'm in. Plus, I've been tanning in preparation for the trip so that seems to be helping how lean I look. Still going to stick with the diet plan after my trip to see how lean I can get then re-evaluate.
Back in the weight room tomorrow a.m.

Sounds like you did well. Who could ask for more? I'm sure those boys will help you get some activity in tonight so lack of gym time isn't a bad thing.

Had to squeeze in a quick workout this a.m. We had to take the boys to my sister's for the day, our regular daycare person was on vacation so we made other plans. Had to get them up a little earlier than usual.
Got up a little earlier and shortened the workout...
Low Inc DB Press (3x6x70lbs) / Chin Up (3x6xbw)
Inc DB Press (3x10x50lbs) / BB Row (3x10x115lbs)
==>pretty fried by this time after full warm up plus specific warm up & work sets with first superset. For the incline press did 10r, 10r, 7r. For the BB Row did 10r, 8r, 10 (sloppy...lots of bounce). Grip gave out to so I was using the straps for the BB rows...
OK workout - not my best, not my worst.

It's funny you mention that. One thing I've noticed lately is that since I've switched to diet soda, I don't drink as much in one sitting. After I get done eating, I could take or leave the soda. When I drank regular, I would drink that stuff forever it seemed. Not sure why that is, probably some chemical thing. It's good I guess.
I generally drink diet soda with my lunch. Once I'm done eating, I'm perfectly happy switching back to water. I don't usually drink it for dinner or in the evenings unless it's de-caffeinated. Caffeine after 2-3 o'clock is a no-no for me these days. Keeps me up too late, can't afford that.

The plan is to hit it hard this weekend and take a full week off next week during vacation. Although, I'm sure we'll be more active than usual with hiking, shopping, touring, etc.
Track sprints tomorrow a.m. followed by some yardwork. Going to try and get in the weight room on Sunday a.m. One final push before my big vacation...
You see...I'm excited becuase we don't ever go on vacation. In the 6-years I've known my wife, we've been to Hawaii (honeymoon), N.Y. City, and Florida...that's it. Usually during holiday's or "vacation" days, we're either traveling to relatives or relative are coming to visit. That's not a vacation in my book.
Plus...my wife needs it more than anyone. Whether or not she realizes it, we're taking this trip for her. I could be perfectly happy spending a week at home with the boys...but she needs to get away. She works very hard and has had a rough couple years with having two kids, etc...she deserves it.

I'm weak...
Originally I was going to go out to lunch with the guys at work...didn't happen. So I thought alright, let's do the right thing and just go out and get a salad. On the way to McDonald's I thought I'm getting tired of eating salads, I'll just get some chicken strips and a soda...no fries. Well, they gave me the fries anyway...I love their fries, I'm too weak to resist. Even tried to only eat a few...no luck...ate the whole thing.
Good news is that I'm actually due for a refeed anyway. Maybe I'll carb up at dinner and call that my refeed and stick to fat & protein the rest of the weekend.
[end of confession]

The countdown has begun...I've just attended my last meeting of the day. In less than 90 minutes I'm on vacation.

I'm Baaaack...
Back at work today. Actually, I was back yesterday but had to run back home soon after arriving. My wife got a touch of the flu or something and had a rough time so I took care of the kids - extended vacation if you will .
Where to begin? 5-full days in Maui. How could you go wrong? Spent a lot of time on the beach, snorkeling, relaxing. Saw the sights. Rode bike down a 10,000 foot volcano crater. Ate whatever I wanted, exercised a little. I'll add some details later.
Weighed in at 211lbs this a.m. Waist was at 35-inches, abs were at 35-3/4 inches. Didn't lose too much ground .
Had some "domestic" issues with my wife come up during our last night there and flying back basically all night Saturday night has put a damper on things. Issues at work have worsened and my wife being sick hasn't made coming back a lot of fun.
Need to deal with some things at home and here at work. Still plan on posting in this log once I get back into the swing of things diet/exercise -wise. Hopefully that'll be this weekend. But posting on the regular forum may be at a minimum until I get my head straightened out.
I don't necessarily add much to the conversations anyway, so I doubt I'll be missed...
I'll post some random observations from my trip a little later...
Ted

Welcome back Ted! It sounds like most of your vacation was great. Sorry about the home stuff. My husband & I always seem to have 1 argument near the end of a vacation -- too much togetherness, I think. It always has a way of working itself out.

Board Shorts:
I've always wanted to get some but never felt like I was in good enough shape to wear them and look good. Obviously they're very popular in Hawaii. I'm talking about real board shorts, like surfers wear, not the elastic waistband ones you see around here. Real, fitted board shorts. I've found that that seem t | |
