Wed:
Ate good breakfast - scrambled eggs with some sausage patty's and some ham. Ice water. Lunch was better than average - chicken bacon ranch wrap at Subway with lettuce, peppers and carrots. Diet soda and a side of apple slices. Dinner was sort of an f-up. Small sirlion (good), caesar salad (good), baked potato (loaded, not-so-good) and fresh baked dinner rolls (all three...bad).
Thur: Travel Day.
Good breakfast, good lunch, cheat meal (planned) of pizza with the kids. I did have a decent salad and only a couple pieces of pizza. Had some ice cream for desert. It was a good time with the boyz...
Fri: Back in line.
For some reason I stepped on the scale this a.m. This was a mistake. Not a good indicator of my progress - so I'm frustrated with my progress, when maybe I shouldn't be. Need to take more measurements this weekend.

Today's Workout...
Phase II - Workout B
Deadlift 2x8x205lbs / Core Hold - 1x20sxbw (each side)
Rev Lunge 2x12x35lbs / Sw Ball Jackknife 2x12xbw
Pushups 5xmax (only got 40, goal is to get up to 60 per guidelines)
Doorway stretch (30s each side)
More itchy issues this a.m. Going to go air filter shopping this weekend - it's misearable.
Tough to get up this a.m. but I was disappointed with myself for my lack of effort in working out this week. Lack of good solid sleep and being very busy while traveling is the culprit. But I set a goal to workout three times and only worked out twice.
No good vibes coming out of this log this a.m. Hopefully it'll look up this weekend. Later.

The scale is posessed. Never use it to estimate how well you have done. Look at your behaviors, look at what you did well. Use the mirror, it never lies . I think 2 workouts sound good under the circs. Be easy on yourself!

Ted, sometimes you just make do. At McDonald's, I get two sides of scrambled eggs and a bunch of salsa packets. Sometimes, they'll toss in some tomatos, but they don't know how to ring 'em up, so I either get them or don't, you know?
Burger King is the worst for their low carb burgers. It's just the patty and some produce. Not even wrapped, but sitting there.
And, no. Baked potato doesn't work as a veggie. Sorry. But, it wasn't the end of the world.
I agree with Galya. Scales are evil. Especially when you are going back and forth between low, no, and high carb. Thow in unpredictable days and workouts, and the scale gets even worse.
Keep going. You're doing great. I can never get in enough workouts when I travel...

The low-carb burgers have pretty much gone by the wayside around here. I'll just get the burger and trash the bun if I have to. Salads are pretty decent at most of those places now. If you really try, you can make good choices at fast food restaurants I think. It's all about will-power.
What's the deal with the potato? Too high on the GI scale, too starchy or what? Would a sweet potato be considered a vegetable? What other things aren't veggies that I thought were veggies? Corn on the cob? What's the criteria?
What about milk, I know it has carbs in it, but can they slow my progress? What about the calcium? Does that even things out with the sugars?
Still learning...Ted

There's no low carb here, either. They still make them if you ask.
Potato is too starchy, yes. Same with sweet potatos and corn.

Corn, peas, carrots, beans, and winter squash (like banana squash, pumpkin, etc.). I wouldn't sweat some corn, peas, or carrots in mixed veggies, periodically, but they aren't optimal for a real low carb diet. Definately don't get the bag of frozen corn, peas, and carrots, though.
No beans, including our favorite, lima (not). Green beans are okay, though.
Winter squashes bad, summer squashes good. zucchini, yellow summer squash, spaghetti squash, those flying saucer things, and chayote squash are all good.
Are you doing Adam's Diet? Can't recall. Adam's says one glass a day of milk, if you must. Berardi says milk only after a workout. Lactose is milk sugar.

Weekend Update...
Sat: finally got up to do some track sprints . Very nice to get out and run. Adults don't get the chance to run at full speed most times. It's fun and a great workout. 20 total minutes of 100m sprints, 100m walks. Then ran an 800m - wow, my heart almost exploded out of my chest and my shoes felt like they were full of concrete. Good workout. Followed this up with a lot of yardwork in the afternoon. Long, tiring day.
Sun: didn't workout to get a workout in. Oh, well, still got lots of exercise doing more yardwork and projects around the house.
Diet was pretty tight. Had a few kernals of popcorn at lunch on Saturday. Some sugar-free pudding and sour cream that had milk in it. And a few ww crackers with the Kid. Otherwise, stuck to plan.

Today's workout - 3 weeks until Hawaii.
Started today with some measurements - waist is right at 35-inches, gut is 36 1/4-inches. This correlates to 1/2-inch lost on waist and full inch lost on gut over 3 weeks. Weight, FWIW, is about the same (212lbs)...go figure.
Today was workout A, phase II:
Bench 3x6x175lbs / Up Row + Shrug 3x10x25lbs
==>last set of bench was 4+2.
DB Bench 3x8x55lbs / BOR 3x8x125lbs
==>neutral grip on benches.
DB Incline Press 60r x 30lbs x fewest sets possible.
==>1-20r; 2-10; 3-10; 4-10; 5-8r; 6-2r. Should cut this to 5 but, went to failure pretty quick.
Warmed up with some shoulder work: standing shoulder raises; 1-arm band ext; External Rotations. Need to do this on a more routine basis.
Very good workout. Skipped my gatorade this a.m. trying to cut carbs even more. Need to be very tight this week. Getting down to crunch time.
Track sprints ( or bike sprints depending on weather ) tomorrow. Off on Wed (or maybe short bike or run). Workout B on Thursday, more sprints on Friday, workout A on Sat. That's the plan...later.

Track Sprints this a.m. A little chilly with the wind this morning, but not too bad. Nasty storm moving just north of us - kind of interesting to watch.
Ran 200m sprints with 200m walk. Completed 6 total (after warmup). Then did another 800m. Those are a tough 2 laps to be sure.
Started off a little slow, could definately feel some stiffness both from the cold and the sprints Saturday. Good, strong workout though.

Sometimes, things just come into focus for me. Certain things happen that really remind you of your priorities. No, this wasn't a tragic event but just a realization. A lot of times for me, it occurs after a good workout.
I got up about 5 a.m. this morning. Planned on driving up to the local high school and run sprints at the track...see post above. Even pulled my truck out of the garage last night so I would wake the 2-year-old when I leave.
Get back to the house, still dark inside, (it was pretty overcast this morning) about 6:15 a.m. I hear the 5-month-old talking in his crib. This Kid is the best. He sleeps pretty much 10-hours every night. Doesn't make a peep. Even when he wakes up, he'll talk and "coo" and you walk in there and he gets the biggest toothless grin on this face...so funny. Everyone else is still asleep, change his diaper, make his bottle and fed him as I watched ESPN News...
There's something about feeding your baby and listening, really listening to the sounds of the house. After a good workout, feeling tired, the good kind of tired...feeding my son. Decided I was going to be late for work today...let my wife sleep for an extra half an hour - enjoy some time with the Kids and ate a decent breakfast. Tomorrow and Thursday are going to be long days so...

I know what you mean. I used to get up with the babies every night for their night time feeding. It was one of them most enjoyable parts of my day.
Great way to end your workout and start your day.

No formal workout today. Got some extra sleep, which I needed. First night of our golf league is tonight so I'll walk 9 holes carrying my clubs...so that'll be the workout for the day. Need to stay on track with my diet so I packed an extra meal that'll hopefully tied me over.

From my GSD Log, this is the lightest and thinest measurements I could find:
Quote:
|
Weighed in at 204lb this a.m. Bodyfat measurements anywhere from 10-12.5%. Waist measurement is 34.5-inches, Ab is 35-inches.
|
I'd love to get to the point where my waist is 34-inches and my ab is the same (if that's possible) but that's the target right now. Time = ASAP.

It's interesting that I'm almost 10lbs heavier than that with about an inch or so to lose - is it water or muscle?
