I'll admit that we got a free pc version of Monopoly and I kind of encourage them to play that. It's much easier to scrap when they get bored (I think I start out bored!) Rummikub and Sequence are good & quick!

Rummikub is great. Do you mean you got Monopoly for free, or it's a free version? If it's free, sign me up.

I remember that, now. They wanted Honey Nut, and that came with Scrabble.

I love nearly all games ... as an only child I had no one to play them with me, so I look forward to the day when I get to play "real" games with my girls. Right now it's not terribly fun ... Michaela gets mad and cries if she doesn't win ... and Hayley gets mad if she doesn't get to hold her game piece (so she gets two so we know where she is on the board!). Then there's the cheating ... we were playing a matching game (like concentration) the other day and Michaela was just lifting pieces until she got a match (I had left to go to the bathroom ... no more!!).
So tomorrow night is my last dose of antibiotic ... looking forward to that. We're supposed to get a dumping of snow tomorrow which normally wouldn't be a bad thing. DH plows and it is good money when it snows. HOWEVER, we have tickets to Go Diego Go LIVE on Saturday at 5:00 pm ... after a 1:00 pm appointment with our tax guy ... looks like I'll be going solo to the tax appointment and taking my mother with the girls and I to Diego ... I'm just bummed because he would have so enjoyed seeing the girls so excited. The one weekend we have something planned!!! At least on Sunday things will be fine ... I am going to Boston for the Perform Better seminar!! Really looking forward to that.
Went for a walk yesterday ... nothing today ... feeling really drained and weary and exhausted ... not sure why ...
Anyone here ever read "German Boy" by Wolfgang Samuel? My bookclub is reading it ... just awesome ... I highly recommend it ...

Julie - glad to see you're getting better! I can't wait until we can officially leave Winter and all it's ailments behind.
Wow, Go Diego Go ... my son would be all over that. He loves Dora and Diego (what kid doesn't). He could watch Noggin 24/7 if you let him. I think he has unfortunately inherited his mother's love of all things television.
I haven't read The German Boy. I was a big reader before I had my son. Now it's so hard to find the time. The only time I seem to get any reading done is when I travel. I'm heading to FL next week so maybe I'll pick up that book for the trip.

Doh!! Okay ...
Jill, I would highly recommend it for the trip ... it is really amazing what this boy went through ... really what all Germans went through. I had never really thought of that when learning about WWII ... just thought about what all the Jews went through, not what the regular German people (who were not Party members) went through during the war and after under Russian rule ... and then again as refugees in their own country. Completely amazing. Inspiring. Thought-provoking.
Still in my jammies ... listening to Hayley avoid napping. I think Michaela is asleep. It is snowing like the dickens ... we are forecasted to get nearly a foot I think ... $$$ cha-ching $$$ ... DH is downstairs napping on the sofa as he will likely be out a good part of the evening plowing, then again tomorrow all day. Sigh.
Just listed the last of my maternity clothes on eBay ... sort of bittersweet ...
AF arrived yesterday ... feeling sort of blah ... I know I know ... go rest!!!

Thanks Julie, I will definitely pick the book up and check it out.
You seem much perkier today! I'm sure you'll be fully better soon. Bummer about the snow. We had ours yesterday and now it's melted and gone. Every year around this time I wonder how I ended up living in Detroit. I'm from California for crying out loud. What did I do to deserve this? But then springtime rolls around and then summer and it's nice and all is good in the world again.
Have fun at the Diego show.

Ah yes ... 1 foot of snow yesterday ... SHIT!!!! I was starting to itch for short-sleeved shirts and sandals!! Sigh ... back to turtlenecks and long-underwear ...
Planning to get outside shortly with the girls to play in the snow before we go over to my parents (where I will leave them while I go to our tax guy by myself). I'm going to do some shovelling (back porch, back patio, back sidewalk, and front sidewalk) to help DH out. He left early this am to go plow ... really hoping he can meet us for Go Diego Go ...
Softball starts tomorrow for him so that means he'll be around less which sucks ... it's really good money, but a lot of stress and a lot of single-parenting for me ...
Still have a bit of the stiff neck from my sinuses ... took my last antibiotic last night so in a few days should be feeling great. Planning to restart my workouts on Monday. Really missing them!!
Off to eat breakfast before going out into the Winter Wonderland that is my yard ...

I am really sick of this snow. My driveway is not exactly short, and once again, the snow blower will not go through the 3 inches of crust!!! Arrggh!!!
Glad to see you are missing your workouts. That's the way it should be. Have fun in the snow!

Sunday I got up at 4:00 am and showered and such then drove to Boston. Parked at Alewife and took the T into Roxbury Community College and the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center for the Perform Better One-Day Learn By Doing Seminar. The speakers were Alwyn Cosgrove, Mike Boyle, Gray Cook, Lee Taft, and Carlos Santana ... plus a bonus lunchtime KB demo by Anthony Diluglio. IT WAS AWESOME!!!! I learned a lot and had fun in the afternoon sessions where we got put through some workouts and learned some cool techniques. I bought a KB and a DVD ... it was fabulous (but heavy on the T ride and walk back to my car!!)
Exhausted today ... just woke up from a 2 hour nap!! I did get up and workout at 5:30 am though ...
Turbulence Training Workout B
Warm Up: Prisoner Squats, High Box Hip Flexor lifts, Rocking lunge, band sidestep, glute bridging, donkey kicks, fire hydrants, elbow touches, arm circles
Giant Set: no rest between exercises; 1 minute between sets; 3 sets
Single Leg RDL: 25# x 8 ea
Assisted Chin Up: x 8
14" Step Ups: 25# x 8 ea
Slow Push Up on incline: x 8
Prisoner Lunge: x 8 ea
Side Plank: x 30 sec ea
Close Grip Push up (on knees): x 8
Plank: x 30 sec
Eats are clean thus far ... need to start tracking again ...
Edited to add: I received the saliva testing kit from the doctor ... I am to do the test on day 19 of my cycle which will be on April 2nd ... then I see the doctor on April 30th. So although it seems a long time ... at least things are in motion ...

Ooh! That conference sounds awesome! I'm giggling about you carrying the kettlebell on the T. Nobody is gonna mess with you. How much does it weigh? Have you used it yet? If you need any tips, let me know.

It sucks living in flyover land! There are never any great conferences around here. Someday...
Sorry about the new snow though. You may not be actively exercising, but definately you're getting work done. Feel 100% soon!

Great to see you at it again! How did your workout feel after the sick leave? Are you back to 100%?

It's a 8 kg KB ... with a pretty yellow vinyl covering! I watched the video that I bought this morning ... some seriously challenging combos and circuits ... should be fun!!
This morning's workout ... on the bike ...
5 minute warm up
1 minute sprint
1 minute recover
x 8
5 minute cool down
Jill, I was actually thinking on the T that if anyone suspicious approached me I would just swing my bag at him/her and be done with it!!
Brenda, yes another 2 inches last night ... flyover land ... that's funny!! You could always fly to Boston and we could go together!!
Galya, it was awesome! But you get to go to the summit and I am totally jealous ... not to mention sad that I'm not going and we won't meet ...
Victoria, it was a struggle ... my energy levels are just not where they should be ... I am ready for a nap already!! But it felt great to be back at it ... and today makes three consecutive days ... but I've been feeling energy sapped for a while ... like a year ...
