Depletion work at its finest. Most of it was just tiring...it was either go or no go. As soon as I started the jog their was BIG TIME nausea...and then it passed. Now I'm going to go die.

1mi Indian Run
misc push ups\sit ups
notes:
The indian run was "about" a mile. We were running around the base and it felt about that long. If we would have maintained pace I might have been able to hang. In practice I've been carb depleting\low cal since Monday and combined with the whole fat and out of shape thing...it beat me up and made me fall out early.
Which actually worked out well. I was "planning" on doing 3x200m repeats so my distances were close enough, intensity was close enough. All around it's OK.

Have you found that low carb makes you crankier than normal? I had a couple of meals in a row really low carb and I'm testier than normal. It could also be that we're stuck inside with rain and my kids are driving me nuts. I would prefer to blame it on my dietary choices.

Weight loss is going well. I haven't got on a scale before or after so I dunno what THAT says but my face is leaner, a vein or two make an appearance every now and then, and my belly has that dumpy\spare tire look that you get when there's a drop (VS. nice and firm fat all the way around). So all in all I *think* it's going really well.
I'm digging the relative stress free of this approach and think the 5wk progress will put me in really good shape to lose some more stress free over the next 6 months or so...while keeping a "normal" diet and getting some good training in.

It all depends. Right now (two weeks in) I haven't had any real cravings\horrid hunger or any negative side effects that I had in the past like getting dizzy or really moody.
I *think* being at a higher % (but not "used to being a higher %) makes me a little more tolerable burning off that extra weight as fuel that I'm not used to carrying around anyway. Once the leanness gets in there I'm sure I'll be a pissy sum'bitch. That said, the only time that I've ever really had a hard time with mood is when I flat out wasn't eating enough...hunger makes you hate on everything!

The transition can make you cranky and weak. But, it would take more than having a few meals of low carb. If you don't eat enough food, you might be cranky from hunger on day one of a new low carb diet, but it's very likely not the lack of carbs yet. By day two, you're suffering from carby-withdrawl. If you don't eat enough food or fat, it can be very, very bad.
I would tell people who are transitioning to the new diet to just write off day one and two (from a fat loss perspective) and eat up. Mostly eat up on the fats. Lots of 'em. It's an investment. You'll be less cranky, and more likey to have your energy back, come wed-fri.

1. The kids pretty well put some strict limits to naked time anywhere but a few designated areas. Underwear is pretty hit and miss depending on the days planned adventures. Probability is high that there is no skin to furniture contact.
2. I don't feel comfortable with you imagining me naked...and telling me about it anyway. You start buying me chocolates and our little "friendship" is going to have to be reevaluated!

I'm going to try to stay away from the previous discussion topic.
But I had to say THAT is what I call a cheat day. I love Cookie Dough Iced Cream... and steak... and potatos... and beer. Nice selection!
