We all keep each other in check. If it wouldn't have been for this forum and the running challenge I would have skipped alot of training in the past few weeks. Way to keep getting it done Dee.

Yup. We're all here to crack the whip on each other!

7/12 Three rather non-descript miles. Another decent day for running

7/15 Hilly five mile pace run in 46:52. Thank you Jesus, I'll take it. Maybe I will beat last years time of 1:11:54 for my 10K later this month
I was supposed to run yesterday but didn't because, well I don't know if Jim noticed, but it was raining.

I did see that. Today looks really nice. Too bad I have a hangover. I bailed on the run some friends and I were going to do down in Kalamazoo.

Nice run!!! I would say beating that 10K time will be a piece of cake.

Nice work on the hills with that pace you should be sub 58 for your 10K.

Thanks guys. Today was a slow and easy six miler. I ran part of it on the trails near my house, but the poison ivy looked aggressive.

I forgot to post my three miler yesterday. I did it early in the day.
But here's the amazing thing. On the way home from errands, I saw a runner running up the hill I have to climb to get out of this little hole that I live in. I asked myself, "Am I running tonight?" My self answered, "No, you ran this morning." Then, and here's the part that floored me, I mentally answered, "Dang." I WANTED to run.
I've been missing that feeling.

I have read this in Dave and Jim's log in the past and I expierenced the same feeling last week when I couldn't run for a few days. Which leads me to the conclusion that none of us are quite right in the head.

Which explains why my internal thoughts are full dialogue
I ran six miles this morning. I started too late, so it was hot, but I got it done. Then Jake and I went and cleared logs and moved pavers on his path in our woods. I sweated and strained, so it ought to count for something

I did three miles this morning despite it being a super busy day. Now I will be silent for awhile. I will keep running, but I will be at our cottage, which has no phone or internet service. I know, you all feel real bad for me
On Sunday I will do my first double digit run since my 25K. This, despite my plans to host a party on Saturday

I'm back!
I kept up training at the lake. There are excellent bike trails near my cottage, and it's ten degrees cooler out there. However, I was also trailed by a nine-year-old on a bike, so tended to run later than I otherwise would. Did my two short runs and my one long run both weeks, and I did do one medium run each week, but I did miss a second medium run each week, when guests were there.
Jim, I figured. It wasn't a huge race and we'd have seen you. I looked for you at the turn-around. Just like last year, the sun started beating down as we reached Harbor Island, so looking for you was a welcome distraction.
This is kind of a stupid race, and I'd skip it if I wasn't sentimental about it. But I am. Last year, it was my first race ever. And I placed 325 out of 353. Hey, I was just happy not to be the last finisher! It was a real fear My time last year was 1:11:44. I had lost about 80 pounds. My father turned to my husband during the race and asked, "Can she really do this?" Yep, I finished, with my whole family watching. I consider it the day I reach goal. It was a good day.
But the race, a 10K, starts at 9:00 am. In late July, it's plenty Hot by that time of day. And Humid. And Hilly. This year and last, there were people who passed out at the finish. And this year they ran out of water! I had to walk to two blocks to get a freaking Dixie Cup of water! I'll still do it next year. But my men will be carrying a cooler for me
My time this year was 59:03. My place was 226. So if I move up 100 places each year, I win in 2010! Actually, I would have liked a better time. This is a slower pace than my ten miler earlier this year. But, eh, I'll take it. I'm not doing a lot of speed work right now, and I guess I'm still paying for that month off.
That said, I pretty damn pleased to have been able to maintain and 80 pound weight loss for one year. I was thinner last fall, stronger last winter, and faster this spring. But I'm still in great shape compared to where have been. And I have no intention slipping back now. I'm still hopeful that I can maintain this, and that's amazing enough, given my history and my family's history.
Jake ran the fun run. He said his first goal was to beat Asia His second goal was to run well. And his third goal was to have fun. I told him that, by reliable report, Asia is lovely, and he should just enjoy the race. He said, OK, but he still wanted to beat Asia So he came in tenth place! Well ahead of the pack. We figured he ran it in under six minutes, by looking at the time stamps on the pictures. Which means it probably wasn't a full mile. But I'm still amazed!
And since this is my anniversary post, and I'll get all schmaltzy if I want to, I'll share my favorite thing about the changes I've made in my life. It is a great example for my son. He doesn't have to be fast. But there are health problems and weight problems on both sides of the family. So he be doing himself a favor if he keeps moving. And, in part because of my example, he is. And THAT is what I am most proud of.

Just a three miler today. I was supposed to do nine, but it's rained off and on all day. So I did the run I had scheduled for Tuesday today, and will do the nine miler tomorrow.

The world is conspiring against me. Couldn't do my long run Sunday because of rain. No problem, I'll run Monday. Then just as I'm getting ready to go run, Dave leaves for meeting, and I can't leave Jake, who is still asleep. No problem, I'll run Tuesday. Now it's raining buckets. I'll get in some kind of run today, but it won't be nine miles. And tonight Dave leaves town, so I have no one to care for Jake, who has a cold and can't run with me and can't hang out at the neighbors. So no running Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday morning.
Oh, well. This isn't like those breaks I take because I just won't get my butt out the door. I can't go. So it goes. It will make no difference in the long run, I guess, as long as I get back out there when life settles down.

With Asia here (yay!), I can sure empathize with your situation. Luckily, I have been able to get out for a short run here and there, sometimes with her. I give single parents all the credit in the world. (Of course, many of them are in their situation due to their own actions, but I digress.) I can't imagine never having "me" time. I had about 2 hours yesterday. I did get in a bit of a run but had to use the bulk of it to study!
I've been so busy lately. I need to catch up on your log. Hope the vacation went well!
