Default Someone call 911! Cause I'm starting a fire.

So I thought I'd get this bad boy all set up for Monday My orginal plan was to hit NROL Strength phase one. I have a couple issues with a couple of the lifts and have to figure out what I can sub in their place before I can start it up. So I will talk to my ART guy and see if he has some ideas, if not I will figure it out on my own.

For now I am going to hit NROL HT-1. I will change a couple exercises- the shoulder press and the high pulls. I have doen high pulls in the past, my body doesn't like them and hey I'm not fond of them either. Thinking maybe power cleans, and in lue of the shoulder press perhaps the arnold press or good old lat raises. That should take care of my weak link. I will miss RDL's though I really like them. For the dead's I will be pulling sumo style and forgetting the shrug. I'll see how I like this and then I will be moving on to the Strength series.

Monday = the spark, lets see how big a fire I can start.

lol Creative log title.

I understand you don't want to do the high pulls, but why not the shoulder press? Injuries?

Kick ass, Jenn.

No reason not to make good gains on this program still. After all, cookie-cutter stuff is no good... you must make it your own!

Thanks Matthew
The shoulder press and push press in the recent past have irritated a spot at my clavicle. The problem seems to be at the bottom end of the sternocliedomastiod about one finger width midline from the mid clavicle. It only bothers me when I do the push press ( I had been doing them with db's and one arm at a time). The pain is usually upon raising my arm and it is only on the right side. My ART guy thinks I hold too much tension there on the lifts and that is how I irritated it the first time. I haven't had any problems with it for atleast three weeks maybe more. The shoulder press is along the same lines as the push press so I really don't want to temp fate and end up not being able to work hard for another 4 weeks. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Does it hurt if you were to do an incline press?

It's odd that arnold presses don't bother that spot because part of an arnold press is a shoulder press. If it doesn't hurt to do them, though, I would think that the arnold press is a better substitute than lat raises.

Take measurements before you start this. I think you can make some nice gains on this program.

Hmmm haven't done incline presses in a while so I don't know. They never bothered me before. The only one I know for sure bothered me was the db push press. I may have tweeked something when I did them last, who knows really. I just don't want to be laid out again. Arnold presses I do with a band so it isn't really heavy . I know my shoulders are my weak link so are my delts. This is something I need to fix. Shoulder presses never bothered me before either so ? I don't know, maybe I should just shut up and do them

That's ok. They're for you to see. I noticed some size increases when I did this.

I think you'll like this. It has great variety in it. Something you haven't done before.

PS - DB incline presses arealready in the program.

NROL HT-1
Workout 1 Upper body

Superset 1 90sec rest 5x5

Db incline press- 35lbs/35lbs/35lbs/35lbs/35lbs
Cable Rows- 85lbs/100lbs/100lbs/100lbs/115 lbs

Superset 2 90sec rest 5x5

Db shoulder press-22.5lbs/25lbs/25lbs/25lbs/25lb s
Lat pull downs- 100lbs/100lbs/100lbs/100lbs/10 0lbs

Superset 3 90sec rest 5x5

Close grip bench press ( did with db's instead)-25lbs/30lbs/30lbs/30lbs/30lbs
Power Cleans- 65lbs/60lbs/60lbs/60lbs/60lbs

This was good workout for getting back into things. Worked up a sweat. Still not feeling 100% as I finished my medicine on Saturday night. It will take a couple more days for them to out of my system. I think that on a few things I can use more weight on the next 5x5 day. The 35lbs for the db incline press felt heavy which is strange because I can usually do more than that on a flat bench. i thought I would be able to get 40's for sure but that last set was pushing it. Hmmm hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. All in all not a bad workout.

Thanks everyone I am sooooo happy to get back into the gym. I'm praying that no on else gets sick and I can stick to my regular schedule. Today was a wee bit daunting, it was soooo crowded. Mostly guys working out and two little female chatter boxs that did more gossiping and bitching than anything It was a little intimidating though with all the guys in there

Chin up, Jenn! Walk like you own the place! You've birthed children...not just one but TWO! That's something that NONE of those men can say!

Just scoot your little skinny booty around and get what you need. They'll move!

I'm a little late in the game here...guess you decided you couldn't work out in the basement??

Thanks Jamie I will try my best. The basement is only if I can't get into the gym. I will use it mostly to help a couple of the girls that asked for help to work out. I prefer the gym for the space and equipment, my house is a little dark and cramped. I used to work out in my living room and that was cool, but I don't have that option anymore. Lower body this afternoon...Wooohooo!

It wouldn't surprise me that those guys become intimidated by you once they see you workout out a few times! Nice log, Jenn. Glad you're getting healthy and back at it!

Thanks Fin It is good to get back into things. I highly doubt with the weight I am using I intimadate anyone at the moment.

It's not the weight. It's how you use it.

Good workout. The first pair, though, is not a super set. But hey, at least you didn't fall down. I know what that's like.

I was going to say that supersetting Squats & Deadlifts is used as punishment in many third-world countries! That is killer. Still...doing them both in the same workout is not much easier.

Don't tell me I screwed up!!! The deadlift squat superset wasn't bad actually. I worked up a sweat and it was a challenge, but the bss and stepup superset was way worse. Plus the gym goers were looking at me like I was a freak. I'm thinking not many people do step ups off the benches there (if at all). I need to re evaluate that B workout to see what the heck I'm doing . I'm such a dork!
