Get well soon OG.

Maybe just try a piece of PVC pipe on the OH squats or a broomstick for a time until you get a better feel for the movement. Just an idea.

Good luck!

Day 8 Break In

I'm back. Went into the gym and did the upper body workout today. I figured I'd give the lower another few days rest. The workout consisted of bent over rows, barbell bench press, pullups, barbell shoulder press, single arm barbell curls (these were interesting) and dips. The rep range for all exercises is 5-7, rests are 1-1.5 minutes between sets. There were no supersets and the workout took about 50 minutes, including warmup. I liked this workout and I have a good idea where my weights will be when I hit it next week for real.

Wednesday I''ll do the lower body workout and Friday is a total body routine. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday are HIIT sessions.

Getting ready for next week.

Day 9 Break In

HIIT 30/90 for 20 minutes.

Riding the bike this morning I'm thinking there has to be a way to make this enjoyable. At 4 am the TV sucks, nothing but news shows and infomercials. The music the gym plays sucks so an iPod would improve that but I'm still left with the same veiw. Then I was wondering what ever happened to those virtual reality glasses they were pimping a few years back. Now that would be cool for cardio sessions, you could get your exercise in and not feel you are at the gym. But none of those boring riding your bike over Mt. Kilimanjaro programs. No, it would have to be something more interesting. What could you do that requires short intense periods followed by slow steady state times that could last 20 minutes?

I'm working on reinventing the seats to accomodate the user.

(the HIIT session posts will probably be like this so I don't blame you if you want to skip Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday reading).

I'm scared to think what program you are going to invent for your hitt sessions. Don't tell me I don't want to know! Whats wrong with your seat?

Hey, Virtual Reality glasses with some of the pics from the threads you post in 3D. Now there is an idea.

Glad you are recovering and back into the mix.

Day 10 Break In

Lower body day. 4 sets of squats (2 fronts squat, 2 overhead squats, which I'm still not too comfortable with), 3 sets of deadlifts, 2 set of DB walking lunges (Ministry of Silly Walks ), single leg swiss ball leg curls (these were harder than I thought they would be) and 2 sets of step ups. Whew. Pretty good workout. By the time I get to the last 2 exercises my legs were pretty much toast. I foam rolled the legs before I started (more fodder for the "wtf is that old guy doing now" looks) but it did loosen me up so I'll continue in spite of the looks. Fun workout.

I received my Biotest package and had Surge for my pre and post workout drink. It's not bad but I've had better. I'll try the Metabolic Drive later.

I think I'm getting a cold now.

Good job, Bob. You have a kindred spirit here who also hates cardio, but will do it during MA.

Thanks, Bill. Thought no one noticed.

Day 11 Break In

HIIT 60/60 5 Intervals

OK, this is tougher than the 30/90 interval scheme. Although after 20 minutes of pedaling I still haven't gone anywhere. Good thing, though, because it's freaking cold out today. Low 20's.

I think about this a lot while I'm on the bike--I figure if at least they could harness us all to some sort of contraption that would convert our efforts to energy to power the city, at least then it'd be worth something!

Ah, yes. Our weather--talk about a breeding ground for pneumonia! :p One day 68, the next 32. Charming.

Curious: What's a Biotest package? And Surge--is that just caffeine and ephedra or something like that?
