18 year olds have baby fat. So unattractive...

I'd love a week, out near the pool, in the shade, slathered in sunsblock and sunscreen, wearing my big ol' hat and long sleeved UVA/B blocking protective shirt, lazing around and drinking low carb, virgin margaritas... good times. good times.

Have a great trip!

See I'll have to give Tina major props if she manages to still kick R's ass even with a cruise in the middle of the challenge...I'd be a gone-er

Have fun on your cruise!!! I'm so jealous!! My hubby and I really want to plan one for next summer... we just feel guilty spending money and not taking the kids... BUT we are taking them to Disney over Thanksgiving!!! I hear cruises are a lot of fun for kids, but I just don't feel comfortable leaving my girls in the hands of strangers on a boat!!!

You must post pics when you return! I'm sure you will look HOT in your new bikini!!!

Here's the retread from the challenge log:

SFM day 4
3x5 @ 7RM

A1 Good mornings 105 (+5)
A2 Decline bench press 102 (+4)
B1 Chins (wt asst) 110 (+5)
B2 BB Front squats 105 (+5)

Jump rope, 5 mins

My notes:

1. I don't like good mornings. I just don't.
2. I just subtracted the weight that I was assisting from my body weight to get the chin weight.
3. Jumping rope sucked this morning
4. Looking for that 115 on the front squats... I'm gonna get it, too.
5. I ate and ate and ATE on that damned cruise. Friggin desserts.
I'm glad this isn't a weight loss challenge, because I'm now up like 3 lbs. Dammit. The worst thing is that the food wasn't even good, there was just so friggin much of it.

Oh well.

On the bright side:

I climbed a 60 ft wall--on the hard side of the tower--and made it. Boo-yah! I also did some rappelling, a little rope bridge action, and a shitty zip line.
Despite my extreme fear of the ocean, I also snorkeled in Cozumel and it was awesome! Swimming lessons are in my future.

I did NO lifting since I left, today was the first day. The boat was a POS--I would not recommend Carnival cruises to anyone. DH and I are going on a more upscale cruise probably in the spring up to BC and Vancouver--this budget cruise shit is for the birds, but the kids did have a good time, so there's that.

four dollars a pop, two a day, 6 days.

Still cheaper than a bottle of good wine.

Hey, if you were only up 3 pounds after a friggin' cruise, I figure that's a small triumph in itself. A few days on TNT and it'll be gone (you're starting that right?).

I looked into a cruise for the family this past winter and it seems like all the cruiselines I'm interested in are not very kid-friendly. And frankly, while I love my son, I'm not that fond of other people's kids and I don't want to be trapped on a boat with a bunch of them (a la Carnival Cruise). So we decided against it. I am dying to go on a Crystal or Seabourne cruise. Something nice and swanky and virtually kid free. Some day.

Hey...welcome back!!! Sorry the boat sucked. Two of my good friends were on the Crown Princess that listed hard to one side a year ago a few miles off Port Canaveral. They said it was the most terrifying experience of their lives. Luckily they were OK. Personally, I'll never take a cruise...I have a hard enough time flying. But, it sounds like you got some good climbing in anyway. You must be fired up to resume the challenge. 3 pounds will come off like nothin'!!!

Costa cruises look pretty cool, too... I'm starting TNT today, although I have raspberries and strawberries that I need to eat (I hate wasting good berries).
You are spot on on the kid thing, too... I want an adult cruise of the non-hedonism type. We're going to do a suite cruise out of either san fran or seattle in the spring, maybe just up to vancouver/BC--I figure this may be relatively kid-free since it's not Disney, Carnival, or Royal Caribbean!

This morning:

RUN 2 miles/19 mins ish.

It was raining cats and dogs; my starbucks run was aborted. We're actually having some flash flooding here and there isn't a dry spot on the road to run on, so now I have a nice blister, too.

Cruising is EASY compared to flying, Victoria... you could always do a dinner cruise and see if you like it. Those things are so stabilized, you barely know you're at sea. I see a lot of people with dramamine patches behind their ears but I'm really not sure why.

You're flying to Cali, right?

I remember the Carnival Cruises we've taken as being real "party boats" and lots of kids. Food was very average if I remember right. That's awesome if you're only up 3 lbs though...would've been 13 for me.

Love love love your avi -- I would've been right there with ya racing you to the top!

Oh my lord...yes! I'm trying very hard not to think about it. Delta, non-stop. I guess they have these personal dvd type players now for everyone, so I'll just drug myself up and watch the screen the entire flight. Im travelling with two other people which will make it much easier for me, especially getting through the airports. I could never, and would never do that alone. *sigh*...I'm just not a very good traveler, can you tell?

Default SFM #5

I/O warmup, 3-4 warm up sets on all except GHR.

SFM day 5 3x8 @10 RM (increases in lbs, not percentages)

A1 Military BB press 71x8x3 (+3)
A2 Box squats 122x8x3 (+4)

B1 GHR BW +5x8x3 (+2.5)
B2 Seated pronated row 104x8,106x8x2 (+7)

Jump rope/box jumps (14": 5 risers w reebok step) x 6 mins

Done.

Notes:
1. Frigging feet were cramping to beat the band on the GHR today. OW.
2. Military presses were a complete bitch, but I will get 75# on the bar by next time
3. Box squats felt great, just right in re: toughness. I'm gonna try 130# next week, but may not be able to get eight for three sets.
4. Seated rows were pretty tough.

Average is generous, Jen.

That rock tower was DA BOMB. I really enjoyed it and the rappelling, too. Good stuff. I am hoping to find a climbing gym close enough to me to make it worthwhile after I get to Cali (next week, OMG!!!), because I see bouldering in my future.
