A leprosy center. Very interesting stuff. Apparently, I will have one in my back yard in Cali as well.
Oh, and reallllllly good seafood. That's in BR, too.
I know, Gobbla.... I should be punished. I'll get right on that first thing tomorrow with a little good ole HIIT.

HIIT
Morning run: 2:00 slow/2:00 hard x 5 (HR to 170s during work intervals).
BOTH ankles were acting up today, which is very strange; I have never had an ankle problem before. Maybe I'll use that as my excuse to prematurely buy a new pair of running shoes.

Leprocy? In the states? Why did I think that it had been eradicated and was only in 3rd world nations? Wow ... must have been something to see ...

3000 cases in the US currently; more coming in from Mexico around the Texas border. Good stuff.
Also pretty non-contagious, despite the fear and social stigma of this. It actually doesn't look different from many other skin diseases; the discoloration from the clofazamine used to treat it is far more impressive. Weird, huh?

it's the armadillos - j/k
actually, I've seen documentaries about a place in LA that is the leprosy treatment destination of choice - I assume it is where you went in BR - very interesting stuff as I recall

Cool ... and I know about the skin cancer ... do you remember the Seinfeld episode where they were joking about dermatologists not being "real" doctors because they don't save lives? I was going to make some joke about that when I posted but my brain was fuzzy and I couldn't remember any good quotes!!
Maybe we'll just call you PP now (you know, for pimple-popper)!!

That was exactly what I was quoting, Julie. I love that Seinfeld episode
Today's workout was a very fun but very sweaty bastardized triple threat training as follows:
3 sets of this non-stop circuit, with 60 secs between each set:
1. BW squats (varied between prisoner, Y and T squats) x20
2. seated row 48x20
3. push ups 15
4. DB RDL 22.5 (total 45#) x15
5. step ups 15 ea leg
6. DB clean/press first set 4Kg KBx15 ea,2nd set 15#DBx15,3rd 15#DB
7. plank x 30 sec
Then I did HIIT with BB swings, alternating lunge jumps, BB push press (using the same holder for the BB swing). I also did some chins just for grins and giggles and knocked out 2,2,2 3/4... so friggin CLOSE to 3 but chin didn't clear so I won't count it.
According to my HRM, I burned about 460 calories. My heart was POUNDING. This was the first time I have lifted since last week, so I officially took an entire week off from the iron. Interestingly, I looked a helluva lot more ripped than I did pre-break, so that tells me that I was definitely holding more subQ water. Next week the new trainer will again kick my ass, so this week will be basically just fun stuff with HIIT and one day of non-HIIT running.
Pics tomorrow.

Yay Tina!! Do you think that the high volume/high intensity workouts were making you retain fluid (from so much overload)?

My bet is on excess cortisol, which causes salt and fluid retention. Gee, I wonder why I'm stressed... moving to Cali in 2 months, taking my derm boards, starting a job at a new base, being even more geographically separated from DH... shit, all I need is a serious illness or the death of a parent to hit all of the major life stressors at the same time...
Now, add to that the overtraining... methinks I was swimming in a mineralocorticoid pool.
Yup, Jill, I agree! Good stuff, here.
Now, my current trainer has an interesting approach to things that I might use when I decide I'm done with SSD. It involves eating at 50% of maintenance on non-lifting days and 120% of maintenance on lifting days, so depending on whether I lift 3 or 4 times/week, I would probably avg out to an 80% deficit/week. He has managed to lose a shitload of bodyfat in a very linear fashion since January; also many of his housefraulein clients have done the same. The thing I really like about his approach is that it allows total normalcy in social situations... this is something that I always seem to struggle with (always landing on the side of don't eat the stuff there then set up that deprivation feeling... BAM--binge time). The thing I don't like about it is that I would only get about 1100 cals on off days, which is looooooow.
He does zero cardio, as well, but does play a bit of lacrosse. Anyway, I'm on track at the moment, but may use the alternate approach when I take my next cruise on the 30th of June.

HOw the f*** do I get the picture IN the damned post?!?!
Pics attached. First one is about 3% fat ago, and 6 lbs.
Unfortunately, today my body is full of water from all of the tissue damage done to it yesterday after not lifting for a week. My waist and thigh increased 1/2 inch overnight, so I am not overly concerned that I bumped 2 lbs from midweek.
Measures today:
R bicep 11
chest 36.25
waist 26.5, 27.5 at umbilicus
hips 36
R thigh 20.875
R calf 13.875
18/5/10 pinches at thigh, suprailiac, tricep... they were also measurably less yesterday.
Anyhooooo... just goes to show me that I do tend to hold a lot of fluid after hard workouts, which was all I was doing previously. I am going to only do every other day on the lifting if I can stand it, and do the HIIT on the same days... I want two full days off from everything a week--I think my body is starving for recovery time.

Amazing isn't it? But it is nice now that you know that your body needs more recovery ... and might even need more (ie three days) as things get more stressful with your boards and your move and all ... keep that in mind!
The pics look great ... definitely see lots of leaning out in your legs and abdomen ... AWESOME!!
Oh, and I LOVE your new Avi BTW ... great picture!!

Same here! Showin' some gusto!
On the pics, they can't show unless you host them somewhere. Like photobucket or flickr. Then you can use the picture icon to display it from that URL. Let me know if you want specifics.
Your new eating plan sounds pretty good. It's tough to eat so little, but the up days will be good. You might get some actual muscle gain and lose fat (dramatically) at the same time. Probably can't keep it so extreme forever, but you might be surprised at how well it works for a while.
For a few months, I did Kelly Baggett's No Bull plan. It was a calorie cycling plan, primarily to gain muscle without adding fat, but you can use it in the other direction, too. It certainly worked and has me convinced that these cycling plans can be better than an endless cut/bulk cycle. The science in the book has me convinced that it's probably even better...
Pics look good. But, the eating one's the best...
