Nice DB work, Sir Ed! I continue to be most impressed by your young strength. And what's with the guys benching 350?! Holy shit! Is this at a gym on your campus?

Only the Backstreet boys and rednecks!
It's the university gym but it's also open to the public...I would have been more impressed by the benchers if they'd done 315 for full reps rather than 350 for partials.

You mean all Americans aren't rednecks or Backstreet boys?

Great work on the front squats Ed! I'm surprised the weight is that close to the Back squats.
Maybe while Milk is away getting burned Steve-O can fill in and give you some competition?

Thanks!
Heh, I'll give it a shot, but his 295 bench creams me! : (
I'm just looking forward to Matt's return so I can have some easy competition again!

After a week off, I bet he comes back stronger than ever! And possibly with a bad case of crabs, but that's another issue all together.

Just got back! Damn Ed, you've done some beastly work on the squats. I'm gonna test my strength tonight, but I'm fairly sure I'll be feeling a little bit pathetic in the gym. I had a great week down there in Cancun, but I hit the bottle pretty damn hard--particularly considering that I *never* drink anymore.
And for the record, Steve, it's not crabs... it's syphilis.

Thanks guys.
Cancun was a LOT of fun. We went to a different club every night, and I don't think I got to bed before 4 on any night.
Food was great, and I tried to eat lots of veggies and clean foods to compensate for the brutal punishment I inflicted on my body with the heavy drinking. There was a lot of fresh fruit, fresh veggies, different ethnic foods (a different theme each night), and a good steady supply of standardard Mexican staples. I probably ate 4 lbs of squid while I was down there, because I absolutely love that stuff and can never get it around here.
Lots of Corona (obviously), Dos Equis, Jose Cuervo, and it goes on. The fridge in our room was stocked, the bars were all open, and needless to say we took advantage of the "all-inclusive" part of our hotel arrangements

On an unrelated note... I think I'm going to steer away from the NROL training to some extent. I really have not made much progress in the strength department during my time with NROL so far, and I'm frankly not having all that much fun doing the same few lifts over and over again.
I was thinking up some stuff on the plane today, and I'm toying with the idea of doing 4 days/week with one day of each of the following:
Day 1 - Olympic Lift Focus: Front Squats, Cleans, Split Jerk, and RDL's will be predominant lifts, and I'll toss in some sort of lunges/unilateral work, calf raises, and some shoulder maintenance stuff.
Day 2 - Upper Body Focus: Similarly to NROL, I'll pair some variety of Bench and Rows, Chin-ups and Military Press, and toss in some extra isolation works for my arms (which still just don't seem to grow).
Day 3 - Deadlift Focus: The main set will be Deadlifts, using mostly the elevated DLs I've been doing lately. I'll also do some speed DLs and perhaps some rack pulls. Additionally, I'll add some 1-1/4 Squats, Good Mornings, Calf Raises, Abs, and possibly unilateral work from time to time.
Day 4 - Upper Body B: Similar to Upper Body A, but I'll switch the order so that I'm training the pull-ups and MPs first in the workout.
Overall, I think I'm going to tinker with the rep ranges, trying some 5x5's, 7x4's, 8x3's, and possibly a little bit of wave-loading. I'm definitely concerned with getting stronger, but I also want to put on 10 lbs in the next 10 weeks--so I'm going to do a little higher volume for the sake of hypertrophy. Basically, I just want to change things up a little bit and be a bit more flexibile with what I'm doing.

I'm going to hit up Strength III, and then go for a hypertrophy program after that...something vain, I feel!
Matt, join in the race for the 3 plate front squat! Let's see what you've got, biatch.

When I hit 3 plates, I'm going to video it for posterity... and to show you what it looks like since you wouldn't have done it yourself yet.
