Tuesday January 30
Stretching/Mobility work
Worked out right after class, so no foam roller. Doesn't fit in the backpack.
Bulgarian Split Squats
3x10 @ 20 (EH)
Walking up the stairs was a chore.
Close Grip Rows
4x8 @ 165
Close Grip Pushups
3x12
Plank
1xcouldn'tseetheclockbutitreal lyhurtwheniwasdone
Some girls started doing lunges about 12 inches from me while I was holding my plank. That was distracting, seeing feet and knees go up and down out of my peripheral vision.

Get one of those cute yoga backpacks, but put your roller where the mat goes. Make sure it's pink and is imprinted with some slogan that mentions hugs or comraderie or patchoulie.

Thursday February 1
Foam Rolling/Mobility Work/Stretching
Lunges
3x8 @ 50 (EH)
My legs hurt now. That's good.
Close Grip Rows
3x10 @ 135
so according to EC's shoulder savers article, I was doing my rows improperly. Made the movement all shoulder and scapula. Harder than I thought they would be.
Pushups
3x15
Why can't I get past this? I don't get it
Core work
I took a two hour nap. And I want to go to sleep again.

Have you considered doing plyometric push-ups?

The pushing yourself in the air ones?
I do those from time to time, I can get sets of 10. Do you think I should do those for about a week or two straight?

I didn't look back too far, but I saw 3x12 and 3x15 pushups and nothing heavier. Things will go slowly if you stay in these ranges only. Does your next bit of routine have any chest work lower reps?

I gotta figure that out (I told myself I'm going to start something new Monday.) I'm working on my scaps, my hip mobility is better, so I am comfortable moving to a regular program now. I like afterburn, and I really think it's going to own me, but I want to do lower rep stuff. I don't want to do 20 rep stuff right now. In a month, yes, but not now. I've been between 8-12 for a while now, I want to go between 5-8 for a while, and then go high in March or something.
I'm no Kevin Larrabee, but I sometimes make this a little too hard. I just need to find something and go with it for a month.
Maybe I'll figure that out tonight after I finally write this one page critical review. I have my name written so far, and I've been meaning to start for two hours.

you just need to pick a program with simple linear periodization. Same rep ranges and exercises from week to week, and just keep adding weight to the bar every week. Simple, but effective.

Oh.... and on my "monthly goal" theme.
I lost four pounds since break, although it could have been more had my diet been better the last couple of days. We just went to Sam's for Super Bowl food. It ended up being $60 for a case of beer, a can of nacho cheese, a box of chips, bread (we needed that for the rest of the week) crackers, sausages, cheese, and mini tacos. I hate shopping.
Oh, and they had 44 oz. of Reese's Pieces for $4.88. Talk about peanut buttery goodness.

Will that still work if I'm trying to get skinny? Or am I completely overthinking this again?

if you want to get skinny, drink an evian water, and run a few miles
getting lean is about diet mostly, as you know. Doing something linear may work for something like that. You would have to keep the volume lower if you're at a caloric deficit, so your recovery time could be better. Just sticking to a few different compound movements a workout would work, i believe. I look at it as lifting is a supplement to diet in getting lean, and diet is a supplement to lifting while getting big. Just like you gotta be balsy to lift heavy, you have to be dialed in with your diet to get lean.

I'm getting there with the diet. Stalled this week; and Sunday is not going to help things. I want to look good in Arkansas. (how weird that sounds)

Don't listen to him. He just wants to be strong.
It's mostly about diet, but mostly can be 51%.
There are those that claim that any program will work while your nutrition drives the fat loss. There are others that claim that fatloss programs will make fatloss happen faster. Both are true.
What is your priority? Getting stronger or losing fat?

I want to keep/gain a little strength while losing the fat.
I realize that the gains would be very minimal, but I want to keep my gunz and wheelz.

I thought I said "alco." Oops.
I think you're right. But, I think fatloss can be accomplished more effectively with a fatloss routine. But, I don't think you'll get any stronger using one.
Who's the skinny arky?
