Diet for yesterday was:

Calories 1636
Fat 37%
Carbs 16%
Protein 47%

I ate egg whites for the first time 1.5 cups mixed with 1 whole egg. I found them to be rather flat. We get eggs from local farms so they are pretty rich though.

I banged my right knee with a weight Saturday. I saw stars and had pain Sunday and some today. Hopefully it will loosen up tomorrow so I can do my workout.

good stuff, Greg. I hope the knee pain will subside and you won't be slowed down. I had my knee issues knock me out last week (I twisted it) -- frustrating!

also, you said exercise "so far today." Do you plan to do another round today?

I had to go to Lowe's today to get a new toilet seat. I was cleaning the old one and managed to crack it when I slammed it down after cleaning. Anyway, Lowe's, Walmart and their ilk are not fun to get around in while using a cane or crutches. I parked and walked down to the store. I don't use the handicap spots because I figure other folks need them more. Anyway, I'm walking around the store with the old seat looking for a match. If any of you are old enough I kind of resemble an old wrestler named Arn Anderson if he got fat and lost whatever hair he had. In fact, when I was young and serving subpoenas in DC, I used to sign his autographs for kids. Anyway, I now have to put the seat on. The point of this is, I did all of this and my knee didn't hurt! When I'm done, if it is not bothering me, I am going to the basement and working out. Woohoo!

Is this a clever guy trick? You know, you say you'll clean the bathroom but you break something and your wife says, " get out of here, I'll do it myself". Now, get your ass off that new seat and into the basement.

Yesterday I did get my ass off the seat and did the following:

My knee was still a little gimpy. I'm beginning to think my leg needs adjustment, so I stuck with upper body exercises:

EDT 10 minutes:
Shoulder pulls with band: 54

Military press with 21.3 lbs DB 42
Lat Pulls 60 lbs 45

One armed DB Bent Over Rows: 26.3 x 50

Treadmill 3 x 11 minutes x 2.5 mph at level 2 elevation

I love the EDT style because I can build the routines around my limitations because the weight changes are limited. It's a good way for me top ease back into strength training.

Missed logging. I've continued to workout, but things have been stressful here so I haven't logged. My brother's son has testicular cancer and he just started chemo Monday. Our business is on hold until my brother can concentrate on it. I have been trying to get some criminal work and some writing assignments to earn some money. It's a slow process to start over.
Today I did the following:

Treadmill 2 x 15 x 2.5 mph at 2.5 degrees.
Squats: Holding 45lb plate x 20
BW x 10

Bench Press with feet up: 125 x 10
105 x10

Lat Pulldown: 65 x 10
55 x 10

Underhand Lat Pulldown 65 x 10
55 x 10

Lying Leg Curl 40 x 10
35 x 10

Military Press 26.3 x 10

Superman 15
Crunch x 15

I tried to do barbell squats, but I just don't have the balance to do them yet.

I did get to the point where I can get to the bottom of my driveway with my cane.

I can't really weigh myself so I have to go by waist measurements right now. My waist line reduced by 2 inches rapidly and has set for a while. I am doing well on my diet. With the exercise, I should see progress. I expect to do better as I can do more lower body exercise.

Gobbla:

The thing that I take pride in is that this has really put a strain on me. It strains my concept of who I am not to go to court and litigate. It strains my marriage because my wife is still angry at me for doing this to myself and to us and because I am not earning a living. Normally, I would be gorging but I have managed to control that and to keep on exercising. I am working at my plan to form my business and to do something I want to do for the next 20 years. I have had some setbacks waiting for OVR to get me set up to drive and for the progress on walking. My brother is having trouble going forward at present because of his son's chemo. Still, if I can keep on target, I will get what I want and I will get healthy.

It's got to be hard, but you've obviously got some steel in your belly. Press forward and overcome.

It's interesting how concepts change. What was important yesterday, today, will be tomorrow, if their will be a tomorrow? Seems like there's some testing being done, and you're being proved worthy. How 'bout that.

Thanks. I really hope that I'm smart and tough enough to make my way out of this. I know I am, but the world might try to teach me a bigger lesson. Still, I'm going to keep going.

Had a great two days:

Yesterday:

Incline Dumbbell bench press: 41.3 x 8
36.3 x 10
I can see getting better at this than flat bench since I seem to have to flat bench with my feet on the bench.

Pushup: 15 I found a way to raise my foot on a soft area so it doesn't put much pressure on it. It makes these harder though. I will eventually be able to do these with my good foot wrapped above my artificial foot, but that is really going to take some more core strength. I'm practicing the stance though. The hardest thing is to get up from it.

Dumbbell Shoulder Press 10 x 26.3
10 x 21.3

Lateral Raise 10 x 16.3
10 x 11.3

Split Squat 10 x BW

Step Ups 20 x 16.3
20 x 11

Bent Over Row 10 x 51.3
Elbows Out w each arm

Plank 5 x 30 sec
Side Plank 5 x 30 sec
Crunch 15

Treadmill at 2.5 degree x 2 x 15minutes at 2.5

Today:

Treadmill 2.5 x 2 x 15 minutes at 2.5
Walking down driveway and around road 10 minutes out and 10 minutes back.

Plank 5 x 30 second
Side Plank 5 x 30 second
Superman x 15
Bicycle crunch 20
Crunch 20
Reverse Crunch 20

Beautiful day. My running program may take a long time, but my walking program has officially begun!

Woke up to see the three goldfinches that have been hanging around the birdfeeders. I can sit at the dining room table and watch them. They don't get up as early as Mahler, but they do come early and leave early so I have to adjust my schedule a little to see them.

Workout today so far:

Outdoor walk 10 minutes out and ten minutes back. The mail wasn't delivered and the garbage wasn't picked up so I get to do this again today. It was very enjoyable. Hilly walk but I kept a good pace.

Workout:

Squat: 20 x 45 lb plate. Sort of like a front squat.
10 x 35 lb plate.
10 x BW

Wide grip lat pull: 2 x 10 x 70

Underhand lat pull 2 x 10 x 70

Lying leg curl: 2 x 10 x 40 These kind of become single leg curls.

Dumbbell Bench Press: 41.3 x 8
36.3 x 10

Dumbbell Shoulder Press 10 x 26.3

Superman 15
Swiss Ball Crunches: If you think this is unsteady, try it with one leg!

Plank 3 x 30
Side Plank 3 x 30

Treadmill walk: 15 min at 2.5 at 2.5 elevation.

I'm ready to speed up but it gets kind of ragged. I was reading an article about learning to run and you need to learn that you artificial leg will support you when it is planted. This gets tricky because the residual limb sends false signals. Its not that you can't feel your leg. You can. The feelings just are not related to reality. Very weird. Still, I am doing much better than just a month ago.

Another 10 minute out and 10 minute back walk at a good pace. I was breathing hard from the uphill portions of the walk.
