My PT unwrapped my ankle today and, where I had a purple grapefruit, I have an ankle! I still need PT and will need surgery, but this is really encouraging.

Of course later today, I slipped and almost fell through a china closet. My balance is still shot.

I am trying to concentrate on the things I am grateful for today. I am trying not to dwell on the things that frustrate me.

Having an ankle is a very good thing though, apart from everything else.

Glad to hear things are improving... These things can improve in time. *Insert something about Rome and other generic words of encouragement* Nah... keep that head on a swivel and come out fighting!

It is good to have an actual ankle.

However, I only got one hour sleep last night. I was tossing and turning for hours and finally just got up.

Bleery day ahead. I have some paperwork that I have to do. Probably not much else will get done.

I have a lot of those days in the summer. Too much on the mind and not enough physicality. Or whatever word should be used that my drug addled brain can't find. Do what you can and don't sweat the rest. Easier to say, but think of all the plusses. Like handicapped parking and wet nurses. Well, at least there's the parking.

No wetnurses, dammit!

My wife still has my handicapped parking plaquard (sp). I guess I'll have to go over and get it sometime.

Just don't bring the wet nurse. She might not give it back to you. If she asks, call her a "chauffeur."

I do like grapefruit, but not in the form of an ankle-appendage. I'm glad to see that things are moving a long in that part of your life.

I had the best therapy ever! I hadn't been able to sleep for two days straight. Last night I fell asleep and slept for 12 hours. I'm a little groggy but otherwise I feel great.

Two things happened yesterday and today:

Yesterday my therapist was someone who knew Ali and me. She asked me to tell Ali hello and asked how she was. I told her we were separated. I didn't say anything nasty which is my policy.

Today someone stopped by and had to tell me that Ali has gained a bunch of weight. I don't want to hear bad things about her. Even though we are separated, I still love her and don't want bad things to happen to her. I have never wanted bad things to happen to ex-girlfriends before her. I wish them all well.

Anyway, I hope to get another good night's sleep and I'll go back to working out tomorrow.

It's good to hear some progress on all fronts.

Just stopping by to say hello. Hello! Glad to hear you got to see vasoline kitty. I think about that story when I am feeding my new little family of strays.
I hope the ankle keeps progressing.

My PT told me my foot and ankle are healing nicely and they are cutting PT down to two days a week from three. That's the good news.

The bad news is that there are three procedures that can be used to repair my ankle. I can have it reconstructed, fused or replaced. The idea of fusion or replacement scareme to death!

Fusion would permanently freeze my ankle in one position, but is more durable than replacement. Replacement is more natural, but I would have to limit what I do with it to keep the replacement from wearing out.

I sure hope they can do reconstruction. Of course, if they screw it up badly enough, they can always amputate.

I talked to a friend who listened and told me to get off the negative and concentrate on the positive, they probably can fix my ankle. She said I should concentrate on other things. She told me to call my wife. I can't do that, but I will email her to ask for advice.

I'm just scared. Nothing about this has gone smoothly and why should I believe that its going to work out that way now?

Because you don't know, it hasn't happened yet. So you hope.

You can either hope it'll be good and spare yourself the needless worrying about it, or you can hope it'll be bad and wallow in fear and self-pity.

A lot could have gone wrong with my teeth. I mean, I could have permanent nerve damage, they could have cracked my jaw, I could get bad infections, someone could have randomly cut my face open, hell even miss my tooth and pull my eyeball out. By why wallow in worry and fear and fail to just enjoy what I have and look forward to relief?

What does the worrying get you anyway? Are you more "prepared" for whatever bad news may come your way? No. You're still gonna be upset if something goes wrong, you're still gonna be shocked that they accidently pulled your eye out fixing your ankle.

So you know the good and the bad. You're therefore prepared to hear the bad, why not hope for the good?
