Thanks for checking in guys! I haven't been around because my leg filled with fluid to the point that I couldn't walk on it. I went to a dr. right away. He checked it and it wasn't infected, Thank God! Anyway, it was filled with fluid and had to be immobilized for a week. I now have to go to physical therapy and have lymphatic massages and a lymph pump applied to my leg. It is extremely painful to walk on. I will be getting six weeks worth of therapy, so sometime during that period I should be able to go back to working out and walking normally. Well sort of normally,
My wife and I have been arguing. Actually she argues and I bight my tongue and don't say things that will regret. The last discussion we had, I finally hung up because I didn't want to respond and she won't stop.
This high road stuff is bullshit!

Hey Greg, hang in there. Sometimes the high road does seem like bullshit. Long term I think you'll be glad you did. It's a lot harder to take something back after you've said it (in the heat of the moment) than it is to think through your response once things have "settled" down. You made the right choice.
I feel for you on the leg issue too. Hopefully you're back to normal quickly.

Strangely the leg feels 100 x better today. I'm not pushing it, but I am moving around more today. Tomorrow maybe I can get on the treadmill for a few minutes.

I'm glad your leg is getting better, Greg, but I have to ask.... why does your wife feel it necessary to call you and harangue you? Screen your calls, man! That's what caller ID is for...
And I agree, the high road sucks ass.

I sure hope that leg keeps getting better!
The high road can be a real PITA, but it leads to a lot less regret.

The leg is slowly getting better. I tried to push it with the treadmill and quickly determined that is not a good idea yet. It still needs rest and elevation.
I talk to my wife because a) we still have some things to resolve; b) I am trying to show it doesn't bother me. Besides, my wife contacts me through my parents and friends if I don't talk to her. My parents love me and they love my wife so they don't really want to get between us. I try not to put them there, but Ali doesn't always see it that way. Besides, Ali doesn't understand why we can't be "friends" even if we are divorcing.

Glad the leg's on the mend, Greg.
I agree with Lance - the high road is harder and less satisfactory in the short term, but you won't regret it at the other end. Hang in there, bud.

My foot was so bad today I had to use a walker to run my errands. It's not worse than it was, but it is painful. I have my lymphatic massage on Thursday and I can hardly wait.

Foot swollen. No walking. I'm counting down the minutes until my lymph massage tomorrow!

Wow my brother.... I just read this log nearly from the beginning and am so inspired now. I did not see what happened to you to cause you to loose this limb but I inferred it happened while you were in the Corps. We all lost something over their my friend. I also assume you were also in the Brotherhood since you picked that up in my log. If I am wrong I am sorry but not sorry to have read this log. It is one of the most inspiring one I have read yet.
BTW: I picked up a Runner's magazine at the airport since I had to fly to CA this week. One of the featured stories is about the first double amuptee to ever complete a triatholon. There are great pictures of the tools that he used and the pain that he faced. If you want inspiration that may be a great read for you.
I wish I could offer you some comfort on the other aspect of your life (the wife thing) but I am the worst person to talk to about that. I tend to enjoy being single far more than having a mate so I almost rejoice for people who get the chance to live a single life for awhile. It really is a nice way to live for some people. Keep your workouts up my friend and keep on pushing and pressing on. It isn't that you get everything that you want in this life but that you continue to grow!

It's just a bad patch, Greg. You'll pull through it. It's tough having to bite your tongue, but, sometimes you just have to step off the high road for a minute and tell it like it is. People shouldn't treat you like a door mat.
I hope the lymph massage is enjoyable, at least!

kfisherx: I was in the Marine Corps in the 70's and got to keep all my limbs. I lost my leg due to a staph infection. I have spent the last year or so trying to get back on track.
My wife is not really a bad person. She just wants what she wants and that doesn't include me. I get upset when she tries to use me as a friend when, at this time, I'm not capable of that. I get frustrated when she ignores my needs and wants me to address her needs. I don't have to do that anymore.
Yesterday I got a thing called a theraboot put on my foot and lower leg. It's a three layered wrap with some goop that is supposed to draw out fluid and treat skin breakdown due to swelling.
I kept my leg elevated today, but got bored and did this upperbody workout.
Band Shoulder Pulls: 3 x 10 each side
Seated Kettleball Overhead Presses: 3 x 10 x 20lbs
Seated Kettleball Curls: 3 x 10 x 25 lbs each side
Seated Upright Kettlebell Rows: 3 x 10 x 25 lbs
One Armesd Bent Over Kettlebell Rows: 2 x 10 x 35 lbs
Seated Reverse Crunches: 2 x 10
This felt good. I kind of burnt out at the One Armed Rows. I think that had much more to do with recent inactivity than anything.
All in all, this is something I can begin to do until I can do a regular workout.

I just re-read this - I had assumed your recent trouble was with the leg with the prosthetic - now when I read it again it you say foot - which implies the other limb - that sucks - hope it gets better fast -
