Kevin,

Do you think psychological priming has anything to do with the strength and mass gains you've been seeing? I realize that increased caloric intake can definately do wonders, but the fact that you know you should be gaining may be just as profound. Just a thought...

Great job by the way.

Gatti

That is a great question Gatti. I don't know to be honest. After the first gains I always felt that "this week I will be able to lift a little more."

For people who begin lifting after little or no lifting, almost all of their gains come from the body just recruiting more muscle fibers beucase it knows the from now on (or at least while you reguarly lift) I need to be able to lift more. When you are not lifting reguarly, your body does not let you recuit all those muscle fibers to prevent injury.

EC is a big fan of stewardess uniforms huh? I can try and use my connections to help if needed.

Great work Kevin! I think during EC's talk he should bring you up front and go for the 405 deadlift. Nothing like 70 large dudes yelling at you for motivation

Regarding Gatti's question...

I think that if you get yourself into a mindest where your goal is to lift more every week, you might subconsciously work a little harder at it and achieve gains more frequently.

I barely made any gains for a couple years, but when I started BOM in the spring, I went into it with the mindset that I'd increase weights every week on the big lifts, and so far I haven't had more than a couple minor setbacks.

In short, the willingness to add weight and the mindset that you CAN do it make a big time difference. Kevin's increase in calories might just add to the confidence that he had at the start of ths program.

BTW I am getting a small pizza with chicken tonight. My first cheat meal since being on this... Should be a good night. Me, a pizza, and seeing my dog and parents for the first time in 4 weeks.

ONe week of TT Mass Insiders,

Where should I go from here? I am noticing a little bit of fat. Which is not fun. I was even considering starting NROL FL I. Hoping that I wouldn't lose strength, but could rid myself of the fat. Something I have been fighting with for a while.

But I think I need 4 more weeks of Mass training. And eating.

I have seen great results. Just I always come back to wanting to lose that fat.

Any recomendations for mass programs?

There is pretty much no way you gained that much fat in what, a month? I think some of that may be in your head. Especially with the kind of stregnth gains you have been talking about.

I think sometimes you just cant care about the fat. Im doing that right now and my results have been pretty decent I like to think.

Most of waterburys programs are going to put some good size on you, ive found that I need to lift heavy and low reps to grow, but everyone is different. Im sure with your knowledge you could make you own push/pull style program and do very well.

If you're going to go NROL then I would go with the hypertrophy routines. I'm following HT1 through the end of October. Not sure after that but I won't do the FL routines until early next year.

Keep on the hypertrophy path. Its not really possible to gain noticible amounts of muscle in short time. Your lookin at like 2-4 lbs max a month of pure muscle(unless your a beginner or juiced) divided evenly about your body. That really is nothing your gunna see stand out in the mirror. Take it another 2 months or so, actually let your body stay in an anabolic stage and put a considerable amount of lean mass on then worry about whatever fat you gained. When a sculptor wants to make his peice bigger hes gunna slap on a bunch o fclay then chip away the access. If he keeps puttin jsut little amounts then chipping then then adding little amounts hes not gunna go far.
