when starving, gayla would choose 7 year old cheese over rice noodles

I almost all off of wheat, barely, rye (gluten doesn't seem to be my friend) but I do have the occasional rice or kasha. So I would've had some rice noodles and done some jumping jacks or something :p Problem is that it's hard to only eat a little bit when you're really hungry, and that's not something to go overboard on.

On learning that less is more, it's pretty cool how good you are at learning and evolving as you go.

I find I am not really missing grains much anymore at all...except granola.
I met Milko which opened up my interest as to why he's not dead yet. Seriously, I had no idea you could lift without carbs.
I read www.westonaprice.org from start to finish in one day, then got Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Dr Price and that was an awesome eye-opener. I ate low carb for a month to just try it. I was running every morning at the time. You know the pain you get in your liver about 15 minutes after starting a hard run. I never got it on low carb so I though, hell, that must be good for me. That was over 3 years ago and I've been eating this way ever since.

I hear you cappy,
when I am real hungry I eat more, no matter what the food is. There is no crap in our house so that makes it easy

Nice workout today, very short and calm. I didn't have much energy (tired). Appetite subsided today, thank you, endocrine system!

Workout

narrow grip push ups
10xBW
10xBW
10xBW

fat man pull ups
10xBW
10xBW
10xBW

curl+lat raise
5x10kg
5x10kg

Too high of an increase so I did it with one arm at a time and suffered. It worked though, my biceps and shoulders are exploding tonight.

BB bench press
5x25kg
5x28kg
5x28kg

I am weak at this, but then I haven't done it in ages.

Did some crunches and reverse crunches and planks with a client, that was great.

I got a massage tonight, my massage therapist had not seen me in 1 month and she said my legs look like a gymnast's legs and my butt is sticking out too far. No kidding. I can't fit in my jeans. I have also been eating as much as I need the last 5 days so my body feels pretty full. I haven't done any serious leg training in forever, but I guess running did it.

Food:
1. yogurt, coconut flakes, raspberries (yum!)
2. steamed broccoli, carrots, protein powder
3. tuna fish, carrot
4. yogurt, muscle milk
5. nuts, raspberries, figs (3 only, but worth the sugars)
6. hopefully ribs if they turn out good (they are baking as I write)

Wishing you all a great weekend I just made a reservation to leave for a spa in the mountains on Sep 15. 1 week, yey!

Why would your butt be sticking out?
That was a rude thing for the therapist to say!

10 kg lat raise is really heavy...do you bend your arm a little?

She meant it in a nice way. She likes my butt.
10 kg lat raise is hell, yes I bend my elbow a bit.

Just took the ribs out of the oven, OMG they turned out good

sounds like a great day! Yeah, I bet your butt getting bigger is a good thing (I'm hoping mine is from the same thing :p )

I've been eating dried figs too, lots of fiber in such a small pack.

and I agree 10kg lat raises are crazy!

Make a reservation for me at the spa too...and tell my boss to pay for it and let me have the vacation

Why, people have been shown to put on muscle on 800 calories a day

Haha, I hope it is too.
I had fresh figs (yum) and was thinking of making my favorite desert (figs cooked in red wine then topped with vanilla ice cream) but oh, well.
I would love you to come on vacation here, tell your boss he's fired. Actually, Jonas was saying we should probably go on the Mind and Body cruise together (the one Men's Fitness and Shape have every year). I've been bugging him to go to that forever. Maybe next winter we can do that if you are into cruises and fit people stuck together on a boat with nothing to do but eat and exercise

I don't think I've ever seen a fresh fig...or definately haven't tried one. mmmm ice cream

That cruise sounds like fun, although it sounds like my normal days filled with eating and exercise...although less work makes the other two more appealing.

Cappy, you really have to look for fresh figs. Trader Joe's has them, occasionally. Whole Foods.

Farmer's markets have them, often. If there's a local grower, of course.

I usually see them very carefully packaged in plastic boxes, so maybe they don't travel well or rot too fast for stores to want to carry them.

How is that possible though? Don't you need to eat in a surplus to do that? I see that all the time in print... is that wrong?

You arnt going to gain muscle size during a calorie deficit. At least, not enough to notice. It is possible to get stronger due to your CNS adapting to the movements. It may look like you are gaining muscle due to a lower BF% though.
