Smile A new beginning

Hello everyone. Let me introduce myself......

My name is Ken and Im 27 from MA. I am not new here only had to make a new name because I couldnt figure out my old name/password. I read more than post, trying to soak up what I can. Its ok though its fitting for my new beginning. I used to frequent MH alot 5 years ago or so, then moved over here maybe a year ago after hanging out at abcbodybuilding for a while. I have always loved lifting but also loved eating and drinking. I despised cardio which is strange because I was captain of my swimming and track teams in high school. Anyways.....

After reading Adam Campbells article "Inside the muscle labs" in May's MH I decided to try his theroy. It made alot of sense to me. I have never really liked full body workouts, I always liked going to lift 5 times a week, not just 3. I have been doing this for 2 weeks now lifting, then cardio, lift, cardio, lift, cardio, day off. Then I start again. I want to lose 40lbs without losing too much mass. I want to keep what I have built over the last few years.

Stats : 5'8 225lbs Im getting my bf % checked asap.

I have cleaned up my diet, only problem is I dont really like veggies. I am working other things in like a salad every day and a glass or 2 of low sodium V8 juice daily. I eat lots of protien and a good amount of good carbs. Heres the workout.

Day 1 (Yesterday Mon 06/11)

Wide Grip Deadlifts - 4 sets x 5 reps @195lbs - 90 second rest period
Dumbbell Incline Press - 4 x 5 @ 70lbs
Cable Row - 4 x 5 @ 170lbs
Wide Grip Lat Pulldowns - 4 x 5 @ 170lbs
Weighted Crunches 3 x 15

Today (06/12) I will do HIIT on the bike for 20 mins. I will post my diet starting tomorrow.

Comments, suggestions, words of encouragement, and constructive critisism are always welcome. Thanks in advance.

Let me just say that todays workout really got me sweating. I was really gutting out the last 2 reps of each set. Im not sure why but it felt great.

Today:
Wide Grip Deadlift - 2 x 15 @ 100lbs
Dumbell Incline Press - 2 x 15 @ 40lbs
Cable Row - 2 x 15 @ 80lbs
Wide Grip Lat Pulldown - 2 x 15 @ 110 lbs
Weighted Crunches 3 x 15 @ 125lbs (machine)

I also hit the standing calves raise machine to blast my calves for short season. I havent weighed myself and dont plan to for another week or so.

Its a total body workout by Alwyn Cosgrove. The deadlifts work my legs along with every other muscle in my body. Im sticking with this for another 2 weeks or so then switching it up.

Pulled muscle in my upperback made me take a few days off. Back in the gym tomorrow.
