you know oly lifters only use those big plates to make them feel stronger than they are.
That weight is only 55 pounds in actuality.

i wanted to try some form stuff dan and i talked about friday. even though i missed a weight i've hit before, i'm happy because my form was the best it's ever been at that weight. I also found i'm weakest at knee level, and not off the floor. Once i get used to handling heavy weights in my hands, my dead will shoot up. I also need to learn how to STRAIN. I should have definately strained more under the 345, and i could have gotten it. So, even though i never pull off the floor, i think it was good today to gague what i need to work on.
videos to come shortly.

If you pushed your hips through, that deadlift would have been yours man. Really close..
Your speed of the ground is good.
Hit the good morning, reverse band deads, and rack pulls hard and youll ad 50lbs on your dead in no time for sure. Maybe lower the box for your box squats too to get more hip action?
Great progress though.

Nice lifting Zach. 345 wasn't that far away. What has changed in the way you lift? Getting down lower?

before i was pulling often, and that's what really brought up my deadlift.
what i do now, is put my knees in front of the bar, and shoulders in front of the bar. Also, arching. I focus on getting the bar moving with my quads more now than before.
also the fact that my quads have gotten stronger when my squat went up. I know that the more often i pull, my pull will go up. the last time i pulled heavy straight from the floor was sept 21. so, 2 months without pulling from the floor.

On the squats and deadlifts (from Eric telling me, to me handing it off to you): You gotta get your hips snapping through those speed squats and the deadlifts. Looked to me like your squats were very quad dominant (guilty on my end, too), and while Louie Simmons always talks about how box squatting translates to a better deadlift, that's only if you are letting your hips move the weight (you already know this, I know).
Just like Frank said, if you had been able to push your hips through, the 345 would've come up. And it's not waaay off, but I guess getting to watch Eric pull a few dozen times has allowed me to see what an ideal pull would look like... so now I can nitpick.
Hope that helps!

i don't think it's necessarly hips, although i think that is a key. Speed is big, and i think i need to work on bringing my glutes into the pull. also, conditioning with heavier weights.
these will all be adressed in the next few weeks. thanks

the last few sets of 155 were really fast, and i could feel my hips popping the weight up. 175 was almost as fast. I'll up the RDL weight next time.
