135 x 5 - 6.15 seconds
135 x 5 - 6.22 seconds
185 x 5 - 7.19 seconds
205 x 5 - 7.91 seconds
205 x 5 - 8.19 seconds
205 x 5 - 8.22 seconds

Somewhat Alternating Sets:

(barbell weight)x(reps right)a(reps left)
125 x (10)a(10)
125 x (10)a(10)

Comments: Felt pretty good after a little bit of a lay off. Speed squats were just about the same speed as last time. My shoulder was a little bit sore on the pull-ups, just a little overuse from a lot of volleyball lately. My partner Scott was in the gym and we did some medicine ball chest passes.

Grass Volleyball Tournament:
Roanoke Valley Volleyball Association - "Buddha's Bash"
Salem, Virginia
Mens Open Doubles, pool play to playoffs; 7 team pool(2 games vs. each team)
Partner: Scott Tidwell
3rd place
7-4 in pool play, 19-21 & 18-21 loss in semis.

This tournament brings in the best teams of any of the local tournaments. There were a few really good teams from North Carolina. The day started off very rough for Scott and I. Actually no one seemed to be at their best throughout the entire day. We lost our first game to a team that we routinely dominate, and things were slow to get better. My hand sets haven't been good lately so I kept to bump setting most of the day, but they were very inconsistent. My offense was good, but it was my setting most of the day that was keeping Scott from siding out well. It was our last game of pool play when I hurt my shoulder, but it wasn't so bad that I could not continue after a lengthy timeout. We really had one more game of pool play, but no result would have affected the playoff brackets(That is why our 7-4 result in pool play doesn't add up right). We lost the semi-final match in two close games that neither of us played our best during. I was a little too cautious with my shoulder at times I think.

Hey, Craig,
Good to see you posting. I was wondering where you were. Nice work on the speed squats. And pullups, holy shit. 17 is only a dream for me.

Oh sure, as if we believe all of these excuses about needing to work and cutting your toe. We know you have forsaken us for another forum, where you are posting outlandish deadlifts, overhead squats, and snatches.

Your shoulder story made me cringe -- I can't believe you were able to continue playing after that. I think most people would have been too freaked out!

125# Single-Leg RDL's?? I guess you are still as outlandish as ever!

Buk - I'm relieved to hear your shoulder injury wasn't too bad and is feeling better. However be careful in the future, once you've disclocated a shoulder it is prone to happen again.

Nice work on all the lifts, too. And to think I actually missed watching you post crazy numbers.

I will try to get some big numbers back into the log soon Dave and Greg. You don't need to remind me to be careful with my shoulder. I am definitely not pulling it out on purpose, it hurt like hell. The sand is much more forgiving than grass, espically slick wet grass; but it was a point that needed fighting for. I actually dislocated it very bad about 10 years ago. Right now, it is still more sore than I was expecting it to be 1 week later.

Weight: 192
CM Jump: 23.375 inches(92.8% previous best)

Gym Workout - Strength:

Speed Squat
135 x 5 - 6.31 seconds
185 x 5 - 7.69 seconds
185 x 5 - 7.47 seconds
185 x 5 - 7.78 seconds
45 x 5 - 5.03 seconds

GHR
(bw) x 7

GHR Isometrics
(bw) x 9.5
(bw) x 9.43
(bw) x 10.15
(bw) x 10.31
(bw) x 8.97

Squat OI
185 x 10 + 10 + 10

YTWLs
5 x 10
5 x 10

Comments: I was almost 2 inches off of my best vertical jump at the start of my workout. My shoulder is still sore, I don't know if that was affecting my jump or if my legs were just that much weaker. Everything else showed a similar deficiency. Speed squats were slower and reps were hard to come by on the GHR. The OI squats are short isometrics with a (complete)relaxation and then catch and spring back into the next isometric. The looked like mid-range partials, with as fast a turnaround as possible.
