Mahler, I actually got stuck after doing the dips with the 110 pound dumbbell between my feet. On dips I put my right foot in front of my left, and the dumbbell sits behind the tongue of my left shoe and on top of the back of my right shoe. I get setup standing on the step-bars of the stand. For the dip singles, I do a full negative, the concentric, and then another full negative to lower myself to the ground. When I got to the ground, the dumbbell was wedged in there good, and I could not pull my right foot up off of my left, and there isn't much room within the dip apparatus to bend over and pull the dumbbell out. It was fairly funny, but I pulled myself free after 7 or 8 seconds.
Thanks Greg. I feel a little under prepared, but I will give them all I have got.
Partially because of circumstances of the day and partially because of my upcoming tournament I skipped my plyo workout on Wednesday. I won't get my weekend plyo workout in either, so I will pick them up again next week.

Absolutely crazy. I think you should invest in a dipping belt!

Thanks Gobbla.
kmwest, there is no need to invest in a dipping belt, there is one hanging on the side of the dip stand at the gym. It is just a pain to load and unload for each set, espically when going back and forth with dips and pull-ups. The dumbbell is just more convient, usually! I'll be more careful next time.

Weight: 188
Gym Workout - Strength:
Snatch
115(50Kg) x 3
137(60Kg) x 3
159(70Kg) x F + 1 + F + 1
Deadlift
225 x 6
315 x 6
405 x 1
335 x 6
435 x 1 (PR)
225 x 10
Alternating Sets:
Push-up Plus
(bw) x 12 + 12
Bent-over Row
185 x 8
195 x 8
Alternating Sets:
Pistol Squats alternating legs(reps posted are per leg)
(bw) x 5 + 5 + 5
Single arm Cable Push
(stack weight)x(reps right)a(reps left)
80 x (10)a(10)
80 x (10)a(10)
80 x (10)a(10)
Comments: I decided to go up just a bit on the snatches today. Close to 3 out of 4 at 70Kg. The second missed attempt put me on my knees again holding the bar overhead, from which I was able to stand up out of and finish the lift. But touching a knee down is a clear scratch. I repeated last weeks weights for the deadlifts except for the second single, I jumped up 10 pounds to get another new PR. I wasn't really excited about the backoff set, so I stopped at 10 compared to last weeks 20 reps. I cut the volume to 2 sets on the push-up plusses and rows, but finished strong with the pistol squats, which are still getting better, and cable pushes.

Town League Co-Ed Indoor Volleyball:
2 matches
2 hours, 10 games, 10-0
2 fairly easy matches today to wrap up the season. We went 43-2 for the season, not too bad. It wasn't really a good warmup for this weekend, as we had to play very restrained for all of the games.
I head for Delaware early on Friday morning. I think we are going to get a bit of pratice in on the beach Friday evening, then rest up good for the tournament on Saturday morning. I should be back in town Sunday night or early Monday morning.

Congrats on yet another Deadlift PR. Are you going to try to hit 500? These strength gains are even more impressive considering that your weight is down. I can't believe you got off your knees with a bar overhead -- then again, I can!

Impressive workouts, Craig. Really sweet. Good luck on the tourney. With that 43-2 record, you should be golden. Look forward to hearing the results on Monday. Anyone taking pics?

Thanks for the props on my deadlift guys. Dave, your question, "Are you going to try to hit 500?" sounded familiar. Looking back at my previous log I see why. On Monday, October 10, 2005 I pulled 352 pounds for a double, a significant PR at the time. You responded in my log with "Are you shooting for a 400 DL???" That was just 7 months ago - I have exceeded the 400 pound mark that you asked about, and will answer your new question very much the same as I answered your last one.
The only specific load goals I have for "gym" exercises is 300 pounds for a full squat, and only because I am so close and it has eluded me for so long. My progress in the squat over the last 7 months is insignificant compared to the improvements in my deadlift over that same time period. Numbers in the gym are just numbers in the gym for me. I compete on the sand, and that is where I need improvements. Lifting goals can help keep motivation and intensity up, and also demonstrate a measure of progress; but they aren't my focus at this time. That being said, higher numbers are better, and I will pull a 500 pound deadlift eventually.
Also thanks for the well wishes this weekend guys. I hope to do my best. Rob, my record of 43-2 for town league co-ed indoor volleyball has no significance to the outdoor tournaments that I play in. It is impossible to describe the difference in the two. I don't think there will be any pictures from the weekend, but I hope to have positive results to report!

Beach Volleyball Training:
about 1 hour(I think)
My partner and I got up to Delaware early enough to get out to the beach and test out the sand. We warmed up, peppered, served, passed, set, and hit. I felt good moving on the sand and adjusted to the wind pretty quick. The wind can be a big factor on the beach, and is an element I don't get to encounter nearly often enough. Even a slight wind, which is usually present on the beach, can have a significant impact on stradegy. We both were feeling good and are ready for tomorrow.
Let the Games Begin!

Holy crap - reading about those combos made me tired. Yikes. That is nuts...totally. I love it.
What is a thruster though? Is it like a push press?

93(40Kg)x6
93(40Kg)x6
Jump Rope Circuit
(regular,right,left,alternatin g,double unders,alternating)
500 skip circuit(100,50,50,100,25,100)
Comments: That was enough for the day. That combo was tough - 54 reps without stop, except for maybe a second or two between the overhead squat and the next full clean. Paula was there cheering me on and pushing me to keep the speed up, my form good, and getting in all the planned reps. The Good Morning kind of broke the flow in a bad way so I might alter the combo next time around, maybe add in or replace the GM with a squat. I went slowly through the jumprope circuit to finish off a quick, tough workout.

Holy crap, nice work man. Deadlifts, 435lbs PR, excellent work man. Beach volley ball sounds like a lot of fun, man I feel sorry for all the innocent competitors that you will force feed the ball down their throats to.
go hard man,
Nate
