Small world I have a sister in Bedford and I'm in Pittsburgh as we speak..

steelerfan,
My wife and I often stop off in Bedford when we travel to Pittsburgh. We like to spend the night and have a nice dinner before facing a hectic weekend of family funcitons.
Greg,
The number of views still has my head spinning. I can't be that interesting. And, thanks for the props on the lifts.
There is a lot of rain predicted (typical for the burgh) but at least it's warmer. Have a great weekend, yourself.

On the Road
NEW RULES OF LIFTING: STRENGTH I
Book by Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove
Day 6 - April 15, 2006
Time: 8:15 AM
Weight: (not taken)
Length (Including Warmup): 30 min.
Off Day: Staying in a hotel room and using the (ha, ha) fitness center which consists of 2 treadmills and an elliptical machine.
1) General Warm-Up
2) Push-Ups (with legs elevated): 1 x 35 x B
3) 3 mile run on the treadmill
Comments: Arrived yesterday afternoon in Pittsburgh. Actually staying at AmeriSuites in Cranberry, Pa, just north of the city. The fitness center, as noted above, was pretty much a joke, but where there is a will there is a way. I may get a chance to hit the indoor pool this afternoon and do some laps. I haven't had a swim in ages. Happy Easter, all. Tomorrow is brunch with the family and will be a major (and I mean major) cheat day.

Good to see you keeping at it on the road, John.
But no pull ups? Isn't there a doorframe for fingertip pullups? Or you can throw a broomhandle across the back of two chairs for horizontal pullups. Gotta balance out that horizontal push with a pull, don't ya know. ;-)

On the Road Again
NEW RULES OF LIFTING: STRENGTH I
Book by Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove
Day 8 - April 17, 2006
Time: 8:15 AM
Weight: (not taken)
Length (Including Warmup): 30 min.
Off Day: Still at the hotel near Pittsburgh, so I went for a run on the treadmill.
1) General Warm-Up
2) Push-Ups (with legs elevated): 1 x 35 x B
3) 3 mile run
Comments: I will pick up Strength I - Workout D tomorrow and continue with the program. It has been a royal pain trying to keep active with the pitiful equipment found in hotels. We'll be heading home this morning, although I should just run beside the car to work off all the food I ate yesterday.

Strength I - continued
NEW RULES OF LIFTING: STRENGTH I
Book by Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove
Day 9 - April 18, 2006
Time: 4:40 AM
Weight: 178.6 (+ 1.6) (not too bad considering the Easter weekend bulk
Length (Including Warmup): 55 min.
Notes:
1) B= Body Weight
2) (e) = each side, where right and left are done separately.
3) All routines begin with a 5 minute jog and a general warmup of dynamic stretches and calisthenics, plus a few warm-up sets of the first big lift.
Workout D:
Superset with Full Rest:
Chin-Up
1 x 6 x (B+10)
1 x 1 x (B+25)
1 x 6 x (B+15)
1 x 1 x (B+30)
1 x 12 x B
Rest: 180 after each set
Barbell Shoulder Press
1 x 6 x 95
1 x 1 x 115
1 x 6 x 100
1 x 1 x 125
1 x 12 x 85
Rest: 180 after each set
Superset with Full Rest:
Dumbbell Bench Press
2 x 8 x 100 (2-50s)
Rest: 120 after each set
Wide-Grip Cable Seated Row
2 x 8 x 130
Rest: 120 after each set
Straight Sets:
Lower Body Russian Twist
2 x 10(e) x B
Comments: Good workout today. I was eager to get back to the gym after the long Easter weekend and all the eating I had. I was pleased with the chin-ups. My chin-up improvement program in March has paid off and I had to improvise a rope belt to add weight. I found myself tweaking the weight on this and the shoulder press, since this was a new workout.

Haha, nice one.
Mahler, sorry I haven't been very active on this thread, I've been lurking on it!
Congratulations on the chinups, awesome progress. I really like the idea of your improvement program, at this rate you'll be the Hulk in about 4 months
