Default One More Round of the Velocity Diet: My Body Project

You all may remember that I did the Velocity Diet from T-nation 3 months back and it worked well for me. Well I am giving it one more go.

I know, I know this isn't the way to go. But this was so easy for me to follow and I didn't cheat once. I was not able to finnish the program like I wanted to because I had to jump into intermural b-ball. So now I am doing 4 complete weeks of the V-Diet and want to be able to come off it the right way. I will be doing a solid meal once every day of two which will consist of about 300 total calories (most likely sliced chicken breast and a small salad).

For weight lifting I will be doing the Waterbury Method while on the program for 4 weeks:

Day 1
Barbell Squats 10X3
A1) Dips 4X6
A2) Barbell Rows 4X6
B1) Skull Crushers 4X6
B2) Standing Barbell Curls 4X6
C) Hanging Leg Raises 4X6

Day 2
Barbell Bench Press 10X3
A1) Romanian Deadlift 4X6
A2) Standing Barbell Military Press 4X6
B1) Calf Raises 4X6
B2) Upright rows 4X6
C) Tricept Pressdown 4X6

Day 3
Chin-Ups 10X3
A1) Incline Dumbbell bench Press 4X6
A2) Standing Hammer Curls 4X6
B1) Seated Calf Raises 4X6
B2) Leg Curls 4X6
C) Step-Ups 4X6

I will also do either a light 15 minute jog or the program CB wrote up dealing with his bodyweight workouts that can replace cardio twice a week on non lifting days.

So again I know this is an extreme diet but I really want to do it right and all the way through. I will be starting on Monday when my order from Biotest arrives:

6 tubs of Metabolic Drive (Low Carb Grow)
1 Tub Surge

That should get me started. I will weigh in tommorow morning and start my stats then. Feel free to have any questions about the program. Here are some quick links:

V-Diet Part II Article, has link to origonal article as well:

http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=563877

Please don't harass me for doing this, just 4 weeks. Let me know if you got any questions, except ones about my sanety.

Hey man good luck. I am starting it tomorrow. I am in the air about the meal every day. I think I am going to try the shakes only but have a meal if my cravings get to bad. I am going to do it until my bday on 4/11/06. Lets keep each other on track by posting in each others log. Mine is called Get out of a Rut Routine. How long is does this workout take to complete? I don't have a whole lot of time 30 minutes it looks like it takes a good bit longer maybe in the hour range to me.

Why would anyone harrass you? No one harrassed me. People did express surprise that I rode it out 'til the end.

You can do it.

I'd reconsider that solid meal every other day... Slippery slope. Is that harrassment?

If I do the solid meal again it would consist of no more than 300 cals and I would still stay within my limit. The only reason I would do this is if I happen to go out to dinner or out with friends and don't want them to flip out becuase I am not eating.

I got 2 tubs of the metabolic drive coming tommorow and 6 more on wednesday. So I should have enough to get me through the whole 4 weeks. I plan on taking in 9 scoops a day.

A little later today I am going to go pick up the flax seeds and fiber choice. PLan on starting first thing monday morning, on the plan that fed ex arrives before 11ish.

Looks intersting. I'll be watching your progress as I have some weight to lose and this looks to take it off pretty quickly.

I wanted to start today instead of waiting till monday. So I ran to the closest vitamin shoppe and got some ON 100% Cassin Protein, only $25 so not too bad, and I had to pick up the milled flax seeds anyways. They only had vinilla and to be honest it doesnt taste too bad. I usually HATE vanilla protein powders but this will work good because I got Chocolate and strawberry grow so I will have a nice variety. The cals and nutritional values are almost a match with ON's having 2g more protein.

Now as I finnish my first shake, here is a toast to VD..... I mean the V-Diet....Yeah....

Wish you luck dude, I'll be watching as well. I'm trying TT + Adam's Diet to meet my goals by Labor Day but may look into the V-diet as I get closer. It's a drastic step, but sometimes that's what it takes. Good luck!

It is my first day on the V diet and things are going good. I do not have any cravings so far. I am going to eat a solid meal on the weekends with my wife but Monday- Friday it is going to be nothing but shakes. Stick to it man 27 days isn't that far away. Lost Dog what were your results like?

Just a heads up on this diet. In the first week you will most likely feel really tired, and get headachs. Last time I did the diet I really didn't want to do anything but lie down. Getting to the gym was no problem at all.

Again just get through the first week and you are practically home free.

I lost about 15lbs, most of it fat. I had one week where I couldn't workout much because I tweaked my back.

Decided to stick with the workout that comes with the diet:

Day #1: Monday

Pull-up: 10 x 3 weighted Bench Press: 10 x 3 Squat: 3 x 8 Hamstring Curl: 3 x 6 Calf/Biceps/Triceps exercises: 1 set each 6-10 reps Ab exercise: anything goes
Day #2: Wednesday
Deadlift: 10 x 3 Rack Pull: 3 x 3-5 Flyes: 3 x 8 Overhead Press: 10 x 3 standing, cleaned from floor Calf/Biceps/Triceps exercises: 1 set each 6-10 reps Ab exercise: anything goes
Day #3: Friday
Dips: 10 x 3 Rows: 10 x 3 Lateral Raises: 3 x 8 Lunge variations: 3 x 6-8 Calf/Biceps/Triceps exercises: 1 set each 6-10 reps Ab exercise: anything goes
I just did The Waterbury Method 2 months ago so this may work better and suits the diet more.

First workout on the diet at 10 am tommorow. I could already fall asleep and its only 8pm... Damn the first week sucks...

I am sure I will have no problem with the diet. It is just so simple to follow, you basically know what you are allowed to eat everyday and thats it.

I just thought I should mention I feel A LOT better today, more energy and no headachs. Could my body already be confortable with the lox carbs/cals?? Maybe its because I already did the diet before. And the strawberry GROW tastes so good, much better than the ON Cassin.

Weighed in this morning, down 4 lbs is 2 days. All water weight. in the next 3 days is when the fat should start going. Really sore after the workout, which I like. Nothing like 10 sets of 3 for bench press and pull ups.

Now for this mornings shake, im thinking chocolate.

You are using the Low Carb Metabloic Drive (GROW) right???? You should not be using Whey protein. At a minimum a 100% cassin shake which is under 5g carbs per serving. please let me know. And are you following the diet exactly as outlined??? Or just winging it?

No I am just using whey protein. It only has 3g of carbs per serving. I can pick up some cassin if need be. I am following the routine as written except I sometimes have a atkins protein bar instead of a shake. I guess I should scrap that?

To be honest you have to scrap everything that you are doing. If you don't follow the diet outlined you are just wasting your time.

Go back to the article and pick up everything you need, most likely 8 tubs of the Metabolic Drive low carb protein, fish oil, milled flax seeds, and fiber choice.

If you don't do this you mind as well do something else like adam's diet.

The reasons behind this:

By using Whey protein and not a whey/cassin blend you are going to see more muscle loss and you will be hungry more often. Whey digests very quickly to cassin protein which is slow digesting.

And for during/post workout nutrition you should be using either the Surge in the article or something like a gatorade powder/ whey mix which constitutes a total of 26g protein and 50g carbs total.

Again if you don't do the program as outlined don't expect similar results because you are actually doing a diffrent program.

I can't afford the surge and powerdrive man. I have a kid on the way and I am the only one working. I have everything but the Surge. Wouldn't the fat from the flax seed and fish oil slow down the digestion of the whey? I am not hungry at all. I usually have to make myself drink my last shake. That is what I have for my pwo shake gatorade and whey. If you think I need to go back to Adams Diet. If so it is no big deal I don't need to lose a ton of weight or fat. Just around 2% body fat.

Yea I know man I just like trying new things and the v diet is a no brainer. I could probally do that in 2-3 weeks if my back will stop acting up. I have another 6 months before the kid arrives. I bet I will add on a couple (10) pounds when the little one arrives!!

Ya, I would just go back to Adam's Diet. Much easier diet and you can be less anti social.
