This log will cover the last 4 weeks of training before baseball starts. I'll be doing two cycles of Joe DeFranco's West Side 4 Skinny Bastards. I'll be lifting ME upper on Tues, ME lower on Thurs, and repetition upper on Saturdays. This will take me up to the first day of practice.
It felt good to get back into full time trainig. I'd taken a week to get back into the swing of things after 2 weeks off, 1 planned, one not. So, life begins anew today. Everything felt good. I had to build the boards, so it took me a little over an hour and 15 mins start to finish. Everything felt good and was happy with hitting 140 for 5 reps on the board press. I had always thought that my lockout was the weakest part of my bench, but now i'm not so sure. anyway, good workout. ME lower will be on thursday. I look forward to getting to use my new squat boxes again
Was running low on time, so I had to cut out the good mornings and a set each of the single leg squats and plate pinches, but I still felt it. Box squats off of a ~14" box. I only have 2 olympic 10# plates, but I have another 2 standards. One set, I held the oly in the right hand and the standards in the left and switched it up the other time. My left side is a lot stronger than the right.
YOu have some nice numbers there Kevin. Nice doing single legs squats, do you do them with db's or a bar?? They are awesome for balance. Good luck to you, hope it all goes well up to practise time
I do them with the back foot raised on a bench with DBs. They really hit the glutes hard and the hamstrings as well, which is good for speed development.
Spent all day Saturday at a Scouting Klondike Derby. They set up stations in the woods at a camping grounds and we ususally pull our sleds through the woods. Well, there was no snow this year so we attached wheels, which broke on the way to the first station. So, we ended up carrying the sled with two poles under each axle and myself squatting the back end and supporting it with a pole across my back. We did this all up and down and around the mountain, in work boots, mud, over rocks, trees, etc for about 4-5 hours. Needless to say, I was not lifting this weekend. Today was a baseball practice session at a nearby indoor turf place. Felt good to get back into the groove of things, but I need to get my arm back. With some time, I'll be back to normal.
