Yeah, I know!
So, anyways. I've been as busy as hell lately. Not much time to do much else other than work, go to school, and study. When I do have time, I just want to relax or sleep. I've been thinking ahead to the races I want to do next year in order to motivate myself to get off my ever-increasing fat ass. It might be working. I almost went to the gym today and still may go. I do have another exam coming up soon; this one in tax, so much review must be done.
On Thursday afternoon, the firm that extended me the internship offer for next semester pulled out all the stops to sell themselves to us. We visited the office, met lots of the staff and a couple of the partners, and generally tried to get a feel of what it would be like to work there. They gave presentations on what we should expect; how we'd be treated like first-year staff (and not measly peons). We got to know some of the other offerees that were not from GVSU and generally had a good time.
After that was over, we headed over to a nearby hotel where we'd be spending the night. Yes, I only live 20 minutes away but they offered a room, so I took it. I'm glad I did. They put us up at the brand-spankin' new JW Marriott. It was spectacular.
After locating our rooms and changing, we went to dinner at a very cool restaurant. (For any locals reading, it was
San Chez.) I ate so much food and drank mucho Sangria!
Then it was on to the bar where it was free drinks all night. We all had a blast. Some more of the staff showed up to enjoy the party as well. This is definitely a place at which I'm going to fit in very well. The people are so awesome.
Friday morning we got up (feeling a little rough- okay, a lot rough) for breakfast at the top of the other fancy hotel in town. It was so cool to be able to look out over the city and the surrounding area. People say Michigan's economy is in the tank? They need to come see Grand Rapids. There are so many construction cranes putting up new buildings, it's not even funny.
We then went back to the office to wrap up. They knew they had me, but I made it official. Now I just have to wait until January 2.

I report to South Bend for a week of training) and then it's right to work. Without Asia here, I'll work as much as they'll let me (and as much as what will still allow me to train for a spring 1/2 marathon and the River Bank 25k.)
Here's a picture of downtown GR. The tall, pointy building on the left is where we had breakfast (right up at the pointy part). In the middle is the new JW we stayed at, and you can just make out a short brick building in the middle where I'll be working.
So you can probably tell that I'm a little excited.

It's a good feeling to see things coming together. This internship has the distinct possibility of turning into a full-time offer that will be held for me until I finish my master's. It would be such a relief knowing I had something waiting for me after school.
