You need to let that foot heal! It sounds like it is just getting worse. Have you thought about substituting your runs for some metabolic conditioning work for a couple of weeks? Your running wouldn't suffer and it would give whatever it is with your foot some time to heal. You can find some pretty brutal stuff at CF, Ross Boxing or Zach Even-esh's sites, or take on some Cosgrove complexes -- those can "test your will" harder than any run. Plus mixing it up for a couple of weeks might rejuvenate your motivation.

Running through soreness and fatigue is fine, but running through pain is just asking for a long recovery....

Take care!

Way to get back in the gym... Jim.

Be careful with that foot. As you told me when I hurt my ankle, take it easy to avoid problems down the road!

Jeff, I know you're right. I'm actually walking with a pronounced limp right now. This really sucks. When I make a commitment to something I hate to shirk on it. I'm planning only to lift tomorrow.

lol Thanks, Jamie. You're right. I need to listen to my own advice. It's tough, though.

Running causes too many injuries. We all need to quit.

How about beer-n-golf for all runners. That will keep us injury-free.
I'll second that.

11SEP07

scheduled: lifting and 5 mile run @ 8:32 pace

actual:

NROL Break-in program Workout A2

Straight sets:
Squat – 1 x 15 x 135, 1 x 15 x 145

Superset:
Lunge – 2 x 15(ea) x 60
DB row, elbow out – 2 x 15(e) x 50

Superset:
Bench Press – 1 x 15 x 135, 1 x 10 x 135
Swiss-Ball Crunch – 2 x 20 x BW+25

No run Foot feels a little better.
---
I had an old guy interrupt my first set of crunches to ask if I was done with the bench. It's bad enough that he did this, but he was just standing there beforehand and waited until I started and was halfway through before asking. I snapped at him and said I couldn't believe he just did that.

Sorry old dude, but get a fucking clue.

LOL. No, this wasn't Old Guy. It was Old Dude. Probably an assistant dean or something. Yeah, I failed to mention that this was at the school gym, too. I just can't see this happening at my regular gym.

That is one thing I really like about the new gym, nobody talks to anyone. One of the serious guys asked me for a spot yesterday but other than that Life is good. Not like the old palce were everyone would come up to chat even though they could see you were in the middle of workout or even worse a set.

Hmmm. Old Dude? I wonder just what you consider old?

Some of us old dudes find the young candy asses to be just as annoying.

BTW, great to see your progress in the Break-In. Break-In sounds so simple, but it is a real ass kicker.
