I hope you're right. I was doing this pace for ten-milers last year. It's getting old, but this extra 15 or so pounds is not helping me at all. It's slowly coming off, though. The beer yesterday sure won't help, however!

Good race report. Now you know why the 10k sucks so much... about as intense as a 5k, but not with the ability to settle in like a half-marathon.
So no more hilarious stalking stories from (adjective) gym chick?

She thought I had moved because I removed an old pair of sneakers that had been on my porch for months.

I'm sure the Summer weather had something to do with running slower than you expected. A warm Summer race really can't be compared with one under comfortable conditions.

Oh, and hot, crazy gym chick called to tell me she saw me finish. She couldn't say hi to me because she was there with her new boyfriend. YAY!
|
Yes, but she did call! Bwuhuhuhuhuhuhuuuuuuu!

If she had called my cell phone rather than my house phone it would have been easier to.

I'm done with the NROL break-in program. Tomorrow I'm starting Waterbury's ABBH I. It is probably my favorite lifting program. Either that one or his Total Body Training. I'll still run on two of the lifting days and will keep two speedwork and one medium long runs the rest of the week. The gym is closed on Wednesday (obviously) so I think I may give Barbara another go round.
I also dug out my old TAP book. I'll be giving that diet another whirl. My biggest problem is portion control. Hopefully, by following this plan, I can keep that in check.

The internet's got to come in on something. None of my neighbors seem to have wireless that they are willing to let me use.
I've laid claim to the old rotary phone in my grandfather's house. That thing's an antique, circa 1974. lol

Ah. You should push for GR to have citywide wi-fi.
Personally I use sprint wireless broadband. A little pricey, but I get broadband speeds anywhere with decent cellphone reception (and since I live 70m from I-95, it works pretty damn good here.)

With about a mile to go during Saturday's race I passed the 1000 mile mark for the year. Last year, I didn't hit the 1000 mile mark until September 4th. On July 2nd last year I had run 673.52 miles. This year, I've got 1008.28 miles to date for a difference of 334.76 miles!
Of course, I ran a fall marathon last year and may not this year, so the mileage may even out a bit. It's looking a little sketchy to hit my 2000 mile goal for the year.

I dread speedwork day but I always feel great afterwards. I am really pleased with today's workout. It was tough but I stayed really consistent with my times.

Not the best of runs. It was a run that makes me appreciate the goods ones all the more.

Thanks, Gregg. I'm really happy with the speedwork intervals. It's coming along. Now if I can just get the endurance to go with it.
