Thanks, Jamie. I had a great time with the family. I sure didn't want to come back. I waited as long as I could and didn't get home until 3 AM yesterday morning. It was tough to get up in time for class!

I've taken two days in a row off and have to get out to do something. It's funny that I feel so down taking 2 days in a row off after missing only 2 days in the last three weeks! I also feel pretty crappy after sitting in a car so much the past few days and doing hours of yardwork yesterday. Plus my diet still sucks. I'm really afraid of what I'll see when I step on the scale at the gym tomorrow. I ate pretty good the first few days I was gone, but Sunday was a free-for-all.

I'm going to skip my scheduled speedwork and just go do a nice enjoyable run on the trail. It's already really warm and humid, plus I'm doing a 10K on Saturday as my speedwork this week.

Thanks, Gregg. The more I go there, the more I could see myself living there. Of course, there is this little thing known as winter in the midwest.
--------------

25JUN07

scheduled: 5 miles tempo

actual: ~5.3 miles
untimed

Started out on the trail but the horseflies were so thick that even with bug spray it was unbearable. I ended up doing about a mile and calling it quits. I did an easy 4.3 miles when I got home. It was hot. Good thing the bug repellent lotion I slathered on earlier has sunblock in it. I'd be a crispy critter right now if not.

There is also that Vikings thing that most folks around here would have a problem with.

I do catch hell on my sports teams allegiances when I go there. However, I do know there are quite a few Twins and Vikings fans in the state. It's those Bears fans you have to watch out for. (Or Bears payers- i.e. Tank Johnson)

With the teams that you root for, you'd run into trouble anywhere you went. Nobody likes them.

-------
27JUN07

scheduled: lifting and 3 mile run

actual: 3.07 mile run
22:11 (7:14 avg pace)
---------------------
Yikes. Talk about humid. 90% here like Milwaukee. Pretty warm, too. About 80. It rained for the first half mile but then stopped. It was kind of nice while it was raining but it didn't make things any better when it stopped. Like running through a sauna. I had no business running hard but just wanted to get done. It would have been one of those droopy shorts runs but they're still a little snug.

I'm going to stop at the gym on my way home from school to do some lifting. I'll probably just do some upper body and core work because I want to have kind of fresh legs for the 10K on Saturday.

Good plan saving the legs for the 10K.

I wish I was a Vikings fan then I could get tickets any time I felt like it

Pats were sold out on day one. Ticket agencies want a minimum of $150 per ticket for standing room only games right now.

Well, I just had my bubble burst this morning. Remember the 5K I did in Detroit a couple weeks ago? It turns out that it actually was only a 3 MILER! No wonder that last 1.1 went so fast. On a whim I decided to check results and right at the top of the page it says 3 miles and I can't find anything on the Komen website that says 5K. I must have gotten the wrong information from the team that I was signed up with. Anyways, here are the accurate splits:

16JUN07

Race For The Cure-Detroit 3 miler

20:23 (6:48 avg pace)

splits:
mile 1 - 6:42
mile 2 - 6:52
mile 3 - 6:49

I'm pretty disappointed and, needless to say, I'm going to shoot for a 20:00 rather than 19:30 next month. Well, we'll see how this Saturday goes.

I feel like a jackass. I'm going to go sulk.

That Sucks, Hell still shoot for the 19:30 especially if it is in less traffic.

scheduled: 5-6 miles

actual: 5.67 miles
45:59 (8:07 avg pace)

Fantastic, fantastic run. This put me into a much better mood after this morning's revelation. It is so nice out. 75 degrees. 44% humidity. 8 mph wind. Where is it like this all year round? I'm going there when I finish school. Ralph, you need a roommate in San Diego?

Not sure what to do tomorrow. A rest day before the race? A different upper body workout? What do you think?

Hopefully, I'll have a 23-y/o fiancee or wife at that time, so I'll turn you down :P

Definitely don't run tomorrow. Either do some upper-body work or just sleep in. Make it a quiet evening.
