km- If I raced shirtless I'm afraid I'd come in dead last for scaring the others to run faster. I guess I'm not so secure in my sexiness.
Dee - Thanks. I should have something up that evening. Maybe not a full report but at least my results. My dad may be driving through on his way to Milwaukee and I hope to spend a little time with him.
Dave - I'd settle for shrinking my gut over growing the guns.

You've run more in your taper week than I have all month (including the Mini). Good work, dude.

lol
You lifted more yesterday than I have all year.
23MAY07
scheduled: rest
And rest I will. I can't believe it, but I slept in til almost 9 this morning after going to bed at 11. I've been needing a night like that for a while. I have a really lazy day planned just doing some reading and foam rolling. Maybe some studying for an upcoming exam. (no comments from the work-for-a-living crowd ) We have a speaker tonight for class and had no homework or projects due.
Tomorrow I might do a couple miles. I'll see how I feel. For sure on Friday I'll do a few very easy before hitting the road for TC. I'm going to stop and see some old friends on my way up and also hope to look at the course before getting my packet (which I can't get until 5:00 pm because the pickup is at the high school gym and there will still be classes going on all day.) I also need to find a room which I foolishly put off. I found a couple online but they are a little ways away. Oh, well. Even if I find one that's an hour away I'll take it. Sure beats the 2 1/2 hours I'd have to drive from home.
3 DAYS TO GO!

Jeff, I'm taking well wishes all week. Thanks.
I just want to say, I hate this dude:
My plan calls for 5 recovery miles today and 4 more tomorrow, but I feel like I should take today as rest instead and do 3 or 4 tomorrow. I really want to get out there and do something. I'm going to keep doing more stretching and rolling.
We've got some warm, humid, unstable air coming through the area (in fact, it's going to be hot!) but after it rolls through tonight with some T-storms it should really cool off. Here's the current hour-by-hour for Saturday:
http://wwwa.accuweather.com/forecast...ay=3&hbhhour=7
Not much breeze, cool temps and some clouds. Should be pretty good. However, the weather can change in a heartbeat in Northern Michigan.
2 DAYS TO GO!

Some people run with dogs maybe I could get one of those critters to pace me.
The humidity sucks but just a few short months ago we were bitching about running in slush and snow. You have to love the midwest weather.

LOL! It took me a minute to get the "taper" reference. Very clever. I don't think accounting is your calling...
One tip that helped my taper was to do 3-4 100m strides during some of the last runs. It gets the heart going and feels good to get the legs moving fast but isn't taxing.

Well, Jeff, I wish I could say I thought of the tapir/taper comparison. I got it from one of the running forums. I'll stick to accounting. lol
It's funny you posted about the strides. About the time you posted it I was just getting back from doing a short 2 miler in which I threw in 3 twenty second strides! It felt pretty good.
--------------------------
24MAY07
scheduled: 5 miles recovery w/ 6 100 meter strides
actual: 2.05 miles recovery w/ 3 twenty second strides
16:45 (8:10 avg pace)
I felt like I had to get out yesterday. It was quite warm and windy but I just had to do something. I felt okay but I feel heavy for some reason. Maybe because of carbing up? I never was able to lose that last 10 pounds or so, in fact I think I'm up a little. I can't fuss over it now, but I tell you what, there will be no shirtless running for me for a while.
1 DAY TO GO!

Gregg, I'm not complaining about the heat or humidity yet. And when I start, please, someone slap me and remind me of the 7 months of snowfall this past winter!

It's looking great! A little humid (88%) but great temps and no wind! Here's the updated forecast:

Thanks, Gregg. I'm wrapping up a couple things here this morning and will be leaving around noon. The plan is to stop and visit some friends on the way up, get to TC by 3 or 4, try to find a room, drive the course (or some of it), get my packet after 5, eat some dinner, go to the room (or start driving towards home and getting the first available room), and get a good night's rest.
