lol, thanks BFG! I sure am happy with my improvement over the last couple months, but finishing it is still the main goal with a goal time of 1:45. The winners will have already had their post-race beer by then. Maybe their shower as well!
Awsesome run! I'm here in the Milwaukee area this week, and it was so nice to run a different route for a change of pace. A few hills, and fantastic weather. Probably near 40 degrees. I didn't need my windbreaker or hat and gloves, and probably should have not worn pants and went with shorts.
This same route, back in Janurary, about killed me. I ran it in about 46 minutes. A great improvement.
kn- Definitely pants at 22; I could have went with just shorts at 40.
Got some lifting in yesterday, I don't have my notebook with me at the moment, so I'll log the particulars later. The big thing is that I've come down with a nasty chest cold. I can barely talk and my body feels like I was run over by a Mack truck. I'm worried I'll have to miss my long run tomorrow.
Just pieced together a little workout with limited equipment. Also limited space- would have liked to have done deads but had no room.
Defifinite rest today with lots of fluids. Hopefully kick this cold so I can run tomorrow. BFG- I'll take your advice into consideration when I make the call tomorrow.

Impressive. But what's this about wearing SHORTS at 22 degrees? What the hell?

I wore shorts for the Rocket City Marathon with a race start around 22. You Indiana guys just aren't adapted to cold weather!
Jim, hope your cold goes away quickly. One long run missed won't affect your training, especially since you are so far ahead of the game.
I just got off the road. A 5 hour drive back from Milwaukee. I went on my 11 miler on Saturday, even though I had that cold. It sucked bad. I don't have the particulars right now, I'm about to hit the sack for school tomorrow, I'll post my splits and comments later. However, I still had a sub 8:00min/mile pace. So woohoo!
Well, I probably shouldn't have done this run. My cold has now settled into my chest. What a dumbass. I did my 5.5 mile loop from wednesday twice. The first lap wasn't bad. In hindsight, I should have stopped there. Instead, I grabbed a little water and turned around to go again. After the water, I felt invigorated. By mile 7, I felt great. By mile 9, I thought I would like to lie down. I just ran out of steam and my disease kicked in. I pushed as hard as I could the last 2 miles (thankfully, it was mostly downhill with only a couple slightly obnoxious hils to go up) just to salvage a good pace. I should be happy with my time, and I am not displeased with it, I'm more unhappy with myself just for going out when I should have called it off.
What's your goal pace for the half-marathon again? With efforts like that, I can easily see you breaking a 7:45 pace, maybe better. I mean, you did a 7:56 with a cold. So factor in good health, the race-day push, and proper taper and nutrition, and you'll have a good performance.

Maybe we should have a pool. It would have to be a silent one so that Twins can't throw it for anyone. But regardless, I have dibs on 1:36. And I have a feeling that his uncertanity will keep him from going out too hard, and bring me the prize.
Twins, you are doing awesome. I think your post race report will be one of my favorites. Based on your expectations, you will have one of the best races in the world!
I think we should get JP to start a collect pot of twin as should start a Justgiving account and we can sponsor him say the money goes to spinal injury research or something?????????????????? (that will fuel him up )
You guys are all great. What motivation! Dave, you've talked about not being able to sleep the night before the race, I'm so excited about this one, I may not sleep well the next 2 weeks! Hopefully the weather will be nice, and I feel good- we'll see where that takes me. With a 12 miler this Saturday and that 15K on th 25th, I should have a real good idea where I'm standing for the race.
My cold seems to be going away. I'm still a little drained, energy-wise. Plus I haven't slept well in about 5 nights. My throat and chest feel much better, but my left ear is a little plugged.
This would have been a great day to run outside, except for my sicknes and the 50 mph wind gusts! Cold, rainy, snowy crap for tomorrow. UGH!
Glad to hear your health is returning, Jim. That's awesome. You want to kick this thing before race day, that's for sure.
Man, and I thought Canada got some nasty weather. I'm so glad I live on the west coast!

I wish I'd ran outside today. It was in the 60s, albeit with lots of wind. I was planning on doing a trail run in a county park, then I took a 3-hour nap instead.
I'm betting 1:41 on the race... whoops, not so silent!

I skipped my run today. Just no energy. This cold isn't gone just yet and I figured it would be better just to rest. My workout reflects my lack of strength. I had a great conversation with the hot gym chick, though. She offered to check my body fat for me.
Just be careful where she places those calipers, Jim!
