It sounds like Asia is a better bowler than me.

08JAN07

scheduled: 8 miles w/ 10x100m sprints

actual: 8 mile run
59:32 (7:27 avg pace)

mile splits:
1 - 7:43
2 - 7:35
3 - 7:17
4 - 7:31
5 - 7:25
6 - 7:26
7 - 7:23
8 - 7:08

------------

Well, it was too cold, windy and snowy this morning and I feel a cold coming on again. My throat is pretty scratchy. Hopefully I can fight this one off as I have the others.

I did this run between classes at the rec center on the indoor track. That is the first time I've done laps like that. I'm still dizzy. It took 9 laps to equal 1 mile. I don't know why I ran it so fast, it was supposed to be an easy run. I usually run those about 8:00-8:15 pace. Maybe it had something to do with all the other people on the track. I felt like I was in a race. lol The thing is, I didn't feel like I was pushing it until the last couple miles when I consciously picked it up.

I also skipped the 100 meter sprints because of the congestion. I did do a few of the laps harder than the rest but that ended up being too difficult, having to weave through some of the less considerate runners.

And one more thing about the track today. It was clockwise day. That was weird. I'm so used to running counterclockwise when I'm on a track that it felt unnatural to go the other way.

Tomorrow: 5 mile recovery run and NROL FL 1.

Running on an indoor track is similar to the Colts playing in the RCA Dome. The surface and perfect indoor conditions are optimal for improving your speed.

I was thinking then I would like to run my marathon indoors. However, you would need to do 236 laps to complete it.

09JAN07

scheduled: NROL FL1 and 5 mile recovery run

actual:

NROL FL1 Workout A1:

Superset:
Squat – 3 x 15 x 155
Cable Seated Row – 1 x 15 x 12,13,14 (these are just numbers on the side of the weight stack. I have no idea what weight they represent.)

Superset:
Supine Hip Extension/ Leg Curl – 3 x 15 x BW (now I realize that these weren't supposed to include the curl part. oops )
DB Push Press – 1 x 13 x 45, 1 x 12 x 40, 1 x 10 x 40 (WTF?? no strength today )

Superset:
Rotational Lunge – 3 x 15(e) x BW (I've never done these. I'll add weight as I get more used to them.)
Swiss-Ball Crunch – 3 x 15 x 30

I followed this workout up with a very slow and easy 5 mile treadmill run.

Nice 8 mile run! But 9 laps per mile.... that would drive me crazy. I would lose track!!

NROL FL1 looks pretty rough!!!

Thanks, Dave. I had to keep count on my fingers. I wish my watch could handle more than 50 laps so I didn't have to worry about it in my head.

FL1 is going to be pretty rough combined with all the running.

10JAN07

scheduled: 9 mile easy run

actual: 9 mile run
1:11:37 (7:57 avg pace)

mile splits:
1 - 8:15
2 - 7:55
3 - 7:56
4 - 7:56
5 - 7:55
6 - 7:54
7 - 7:56
8 - 7:59
9 - 7:47

--------------

Another run on the indoor track. It was nice out today, well pretty cold, but no snow and not too much wind. However, I didn't want to run outside because of this damn cold that won't go away, so I did it indoors. Man, I'm glad I did. There were so many hotties there today I almost got whiplash a couple times.

Notice how easy I find it to keep a nice steady pace when I'm running on a even, flat track and don't have to worry about traffic, weather, etc.

FL1 workout B1 tomorrow.

OK, go to the knitting store and get a stitch counter. You hold it and hit the button and the numbers climb up. I think there are golf counters that work the same way? I don't golf. And you're not going to run with a stitch counter, are you

Very cool idea. I'll lok into this. Thanks, Dee.

I'd carry a stitch counter as long as I didn't have to also carry a big bag with yarn and needles and stuff.

11JAN07

NROL FL1 Workout B1:

Superset:
Deadlift – 3 x 15 x 205 (the third set was tough)
DB Incline Bench Press – 2 x 15 x 50s, 1 x 13 x 50s (man, my upper body is weak )

Superset:
Bulgarian Split Squat – 1 x 15(e) x 20s, 2 x 15(e) x 15s (pure hell)
Mixed Grip Lat Pull-down – 3 x 15 x 115 (my forearms were fried after these)

Superset:
Romanian Deadlift – 3 x 15 x 135 (did them, but my grip was failing pretty bad)
Swiss-Ball Lateral Roll – 3 x 15(e) x BW (this exercise sucks
)
---------------------

Puke-a-riffic workout! I am going to be SO sore tomorrow. I have to do some stretching and foam rolling before my 4 mile recovery run.

Mistake here. Should read:

Romanian Deadlift – 1 x 15 x 135, 2 x 15 x 155

Here is one of John Bingham's odder accomplishments:

Completed a marathon by running 433 laps around a boat in Antarctica.

Just keep track of your laps on your fingers. Once you've hit a mile, make a hash mark on a piece of paper staged just off the side of the track. Lot cheaper than the knitting needle.
