Yeah, your bench press is awful, Jim. I wish mine was that bad! And then you followed it up with 2 sets of 25 dips. Ouch!!!
Good runnin'.

11.1 mile run
1:25:20 (7:41 avg pace)
Tough run. I waited til mid-morning to head out and the temps were into the 60's already, so that wasn't great. I was really sore from working out on Thursday, too. But, I think most of it was mental (oh, and some wind).
I woke up this morning and something told me that the run was going to suck, and I went the whole way thinking how much it was sucking until the last mile or so. I wanted finish strong and was able to do the last mile at a 7:20, so I was pleased with that, as dead as I felt.
On another note, I broke it off with hot gym chick. That got bad real quick. To bad super hot sexy algebra teacher got married today.

3.6 mile run
26:54 (7:26 avg pace)
I decided to get one more run in this month (highest monthly total yet- 131 miles this month) and start the week out a little early. I felt surprisingly good this evening considering I usually don't run the day after my long runs. Maybe I should change my day before run to the day after. Oh- one other reason I ran tonight: I'm procrastinating studying anymore for my final. I am so ready for the semester to end.

Sounds like a pretty bad day. Things'll get better though, Jim...

4 mile run
29:27 (7:22 avg pace)
mile 1 - 7:32
mile 2 - 7:47
mile 3 - 7:12
mile 4 - 6:54
Can you tell when I was headed into the wind and when I had it at my back? Sheesh. Got this in early because I'm hitting the road soon for a little vacation before the next semester starts next Monday.

Hey Jim - have a good vacation! Sorry about the hot gym chick... Does this mean you have to get a new gym?? :p I'm sure you'll have a new one before your vacation is over!
Yeah, I can tell where you were dealing with the winds. Headwinds suck for sure - but they're no doubt good for you, much like hills!

Thanks, Dave! I'll be over near Milwaukee with some family- nothing too exotic. I'll have a bunch of hills to run! No new gym- I'll find someone else to date there!

5.5 mile run
41:00 (7:27 avg pace)
2.2 miles - 17:13 (7:49 pace) warming up. legs felt pretty dead at first.
3.5 miles - 9:20 (7:11 pace) warmed up; some hills- one big pretty big downhill in this section.
5.5 miles - 14:07 (7:04 pace) rolling hills. Feel great so I pushed it hard.
Fantastic run. This is third time I've run this route here. My first time back in Jan was in 46 minutes. In March I did it in 41:41. So today was quite a bit better. Even the hills seemed smaller. Also, I need to take into account that today was my fifth day in a row running. I should take tomorrow off so I can do a 7 miler on Thursday, but we're celebrating a birthday tomorrow night, so I may not feel much like running Thursday morning.

Great improvement, Jim! I just thought of something - you might want to check out a local specialty running store, to see if they know of any higher-performance running groups in the area.

7.2 mile run
54:33 (7:35 avg pace)
Holy crap! Talk about some hills! Was a great run, though. Got to work on my tan a little, too- it was pretty warm by the time I got out there this morning. For some reason my knees are really sore tonight. Maybe it was some of the downhills I did.

Hey Jim - I have mild tendonitis in my left knee that I'm pretty sure is due to running hills. The downhills can really be knee-knockers!!

Yeah, Dave, I'm pretty sure it was the hills. I'm just not used to them. I did a real slow and easy 3 mile jog this morning just to work out the kinks. I remember the times I did Pikes Peak- I could hardly walk the couple days afterwards.
I'm just going to do that 7 mile route again tomorrow and count that as my long run. I'm going to do a taper week this coming week before the 25k on the 13th.

9.4 mile run
1:12:29 (7:43 avg pace)
Well, I did more than planned and ran slower than I would like, but am still somewhat pleased with this run. I purposely sought out the biggest hills I could find just to torture myself. Between the three mile mark and mile five or six it was pretty much uphill with a massive, long hill that seemed to go on forever. I'm pretty drained this morning and my knees are also pretty sore. I think I may have slightly re-aggravated my achilles again.
Saturday's run capped off another thirtysome mile week (a lot for me). So much for any kind of tapering . This week will be an easy one to get ready for Saturday.
I'm hitting the road this afternoon to head home to start the summer semester tomorrow.

Good job on the hill torture! You should be really well-prepared for your 25K. A week's tapering time should be fine for that race length. I have occasional achilles tendonitis as well - I guess that's one of the hill hazards like the knees.

I guess I should stop complaining about every little ache and pain, huh? It's bound to happen. The hills were a nice change of pace, but honestly, I'm glad I don't have to run them all the time. I have the wind to deal with!

3.3 mile run
24:14 (7:18 avg pace)
I ran fairly easy for the first 2.8 miles(7:30 pace) but felt really good so I pushed it for the last 1/2 mile. Wow. I did it in 3:04! It sure didn't feel like I ran that fast. I would say I was running at 80% full effort. So, hard, but not sprinting. Maybe those hills did some good!
