Re: Cuts Like a Knife: The De-fatting of K-Court
Guys,
I have seen some progress pics of Rob, and he is looking pretty damned good.
Nice work, my friend.

Re: Cuts Like a Knife: The De-fatting of K-Court
Check out the weight loss. Is just falling off in the shower or do you just leave a little in the chair when you get up from a meeting?
Good work

Gabe, you know how it is. Typical ecto stuff. Always easier to go down than up.

Re: Cuts Like a Knife: The De-fatting of K-Court
I know exactly what you mean. I changed a couple of things in my diet and lost about 3 lbs. I'll do it for another week and get back to stuffing myself.

Re: Cuts Like a Knife: The De-fatting of K-Court
Well, I watched my daughter's soccer game and I read a few chapters of New Rules of Lifting. I'm thinking that doesn't really count as "exercise" though. LOL. All in keeping with the "rest break" though!

Does that mean reading my book doesn't count as mountain climbing? Dang.

Re: Cuts Like a Knife: The De-fatting of K-Court
CARDIO DAY (2/27/06): 20 minutes on the StairMaster. Program 9, level 9. Usually do level 12 but backed off a bit because ...
I went for physio today as I have had a nagging pain at the top of my right leg for about three weeks. It started up after some heavy (well, heavy for me ... ) squats. While not debilitating, it has been irritating. More importantly, it hasn't been getting any better. It appears I've inflamed my hip flexor. The physio says my pelvis is rotated slightly forward on the right side which has resulted in all the muscles doing weird and wonderful things to bring it back into alignment. He pulled on my leg a fair amount to adjust it, did muscle stimulation, recommended a couple of stretches and lots of ice. I'm to go back Wed. No squats until he clears me. I'm glad I went though. It's not too serious now but he said if left, it could result in some hip joint problems down the road.
After the StairMaster (he recommended against the stationary bike, particularly the recumbent bike), I did my stretches and then did my shoulder rehab work. I haven't done that in a while and need to be better about it so I don't get THAT injury back.
I put all of this in the "hell to get old" category. Now excuse me while I go put ice much too close to my privates for my own comfort .... :P

Rob,
You did the right thing, getting checked out. I am sure you will be hitting the squats again soon. Be careful not to freeze the amazing one eyed wonder worm.

Re: Cuts Like a Knife: The De-fatting of K-Court
More physio this morning. Had a bit of a setback yesterday though as I stumbled down the stairs at home and wrenched my leg pretty bad. D'oh. It did feel better after the session though so that's good. I have some more exercises and massage to do. He said my quads are very tight. And more icing required .... eek. :0
I did manage some cardio at lunch. StairMaster. 20 minutes. Program 9 (hills), level 9 (of 12). Wasn't too intense. I usually do this on level 12. I did a bunch of my leg exercises and then did some chinups, curls and tri pressdowns just to feel like I was doing SOMETHING. Ack.
Need to get a new program going here. Really feel like I'm falling into a malaise.

Re: Cuts Like a Knife: The De-fatting of K-Court
I know you've got a doctor doing his thing, but have you looked into those foam rollers? I don't have one, but I use one at the gym. It's like a poor man's massage.

Re: Cuts Like a Knife: The De-fatting of K-Court
good all on getting the leg checked better to take a short time out and be able to train long term.
Re the ice making em shrink you never know the eunuch look may cause a testosteron surge and you could be DL'ing 300lbs in a week :-)

Hang in there Rob. You're on the mend.
And even if you've completed recovered by the retreat, we'll still give you pass. you know, because of your age and such.

Re: Cuts Like a Knife: The De-fatting of K-Court
Hey K-court, it's great you are getting into the gym and keeping things going while you heal up.. Hey, you can do a 'guns' specialization program or something!
Does your physio do ART? I'm a huge fan of it..
Foam rollers are great, so second that from LD..
