Well I don't read many of the training journals every day, but I stop by a few here and there. Pretty glad I stopped by Ninja's though. Front squatting with the plate held out in front. Awesome, I am having serious issues with form on my Front squats, well squats in general, which is why I started front squats.
I will have to give this holding the plate idea a shot next time!

Og- definitely give it a go if you can't squat with your back straight. Glad you stopped in here!
I used a 25 lb plate with my arms completely extended. As Bill explained it, as you get better at the exercise, bring your arms closer towards your body so that eventually you are grasping the plate against your chest. Once you master that, you can resume squatting.

Nick don't feel bad. I'm in the same boat with the flexors and I to spent my squat time with doing them with a plate in front of me. I'm also thinking of moving to more single leg work.

I suspect alot of us are and just don't know it, or won't admit it.
I'll give it a go tomorrow. I gotta do a modified workout anyhow since the gym is closed. Maybe if it's decent i'll take the jump rope to the field, run some sprints, jump some rope and do some bodyweight stuff. The roommate has bowflex dumbbells, which I will see if I can use for the front plate squat. Not sure I can get both hands on it. May have to see if I can dig a plate out of the garage.....Maybe i'll just take a 10lber in the packsack with me to the field....hmmmm.

Carefull, some folks at the Summit were told not to jump rope anymore. Until they were "qualified!"

It seems like I can't do anything anymore!
Friday, April 14
Once again, a beautiful day here in the middle of Missouri, and a lot of scenery to enjoy. The pool was overcrowded, and looked tempting. If only I had my swimsuit here, had my abs visible, and had a tan.
Single Leg Air Humps
3x8
Pushups with 1 second hold
3x10
Planks
4x30 seconds
Diagonal Lunges
3x8
Squats with arms extended
5x5 @ +25
Dynamic Shoulder stetches before and after workout
Did a better job keeping the toes straight and the heels on the ground on the squats. Going to bring the weight inwards a bit next time. Stuck with the diagonal lunges because I felt more of a stretch with them and I think I am getting more bang for the buck.
Feeling a little tension on my back after I workout, I'm going to head over to Bill's Q&A thread and ask. I am assuming it is just a product of the stretching of the hip flexors and activation of the glutes, because my posture is getting better already.

Laugh all you want. I still find it hard to think about it with a straight face.
Monday, April 17
Dynamic shoulder stretches before and after workout
Single leg air humps
4x8
Pushups with 1 sec hold at bottom
3x10
Planks
4x35 seconds
Gotta keep improving these
Diagonal lunges
3x8
Adding weight next time
Squats with plate out front
3x8 @ (+25)
Had my arms about 2/3 of the way extended, and did a good job of keeping my back straight. My left toe did flare a little bit, and the right one did just a tad, but I should be able to keep them straight Wednesday
Rear Shoulder Raises
3x10 @ 10 (EH)
DB Bent Over Row
3x8 @ 35 (EH)
Going to do some form of HIIT tomorrow, I have kind of fallen off of that bandwagon.

Great work, Nick. It takes guts to admit there are problems. You are taking charge and will fix them and kick ass, my man.

Thanks John! I am really hoping that this hard work will pay off by the end of April.
I'm getting ballsy and am going to throw a little bit tomorrow. I'm probably not supposed to, but I need to get ready for when my body is ready. (If that makes any sense.)

He Loves U Not
He loves me, He loves you not
He loves me, He loves me not
He loves me, He loves you not
He love you not
Give it your all girl, give it all ya got
Take your chance at a second hand shot
Say what you want girl, do what you do
He's never gonna, gonna make it with you
Pulling petals off a flower trying to get your way
Keep pulling til' it says what you want it to say
Girl you can pick a field full of daisies
But he'd still be my baby
Instinctively, I know what you're thinking
You'll be giving him an open invitation
But my baby won't be taken in
You can pout your cherry lips
Try to tend him with a sweet kiss
You can flutt your pretty eyes
He ain't got his hands tied
No chains to unlock
So free to do what he wants
He's into what he's got
He loves me, he loves you not
No matter what you do
He's never gonna be with you
He loves me, he loves you not
You're the kind of girl that is always up for do or dare
Only want him just because he's there
Always looking for a new ride
The grass is greener on the other side
You're the kind of girl who's not use to hearing no
All your lovers try to take you where you wanna go
It doesn't matter how hard you try
You're never gonna get with my guy
No chains to unlock
So free to do what he wants
He's into what he's got (that's me)
He loves me, he loves you not
No matter what you do
He is never gona be with you
He loves me, he loves you not
Doesn't matter what you do, he's never gonna be with you
Give it your all girl, give it all ya got
You can take your chance at a second hand shot
Say what you want girl, do what you do
He's never gonna make it with you
You can pout your cherry lips (yeah)
Try to tend him with a sweet kiss (sweet kiss)
You can flutt your pretty eyes (pretty eyes)
He ain't got his hands tied
No chains to unlock
So free to do what he wants
He's into what he's got
He loves me, he loves you not
No matter what you do, he's never gonna be with you
He is into what he's got
He loves me, He loves you not
No chains to unlock
So free to do what he wants
He's into what he's got
He loves me, he loves you not
No matter what you do, he's never gonna be with you
He is into what he's got
He loves me, He loves you not....
THAT'S THE CRAP I HAD TO LISTEN TO TONIGHT
Tuesday, April 18
HIIT
5 minutes @ 3.5
4 rounds; 1 minute @ 10.0, 2 minutes @ 6.5
5 minutes @ 3.5
Good get back in the groove workout. Obviously an interval short than what I was doing two weeks ago, but I'll jump back up in a couple of workouts. Threw today as well (Shhhh, don't tell Bill). Went about 40 pitches, dialed it up too. Feeling pretty good, did my stretches before and after. Going to be a little sore tomorrow, but the stretches are definitely going to help.

Hahahaha!!! I have one, it's just that the music is insanely loud, and I have to jack my iPod up to about 60% volume just to hear it!
Wednesday, April 19
Dynamic shoulder stretches before and after workout
Single leg air humps
4x8
Pushups with one second hold
3x10
Diagonal lunges
3x8 @ +10 (EH)
Planks
4x40 seconds
Squats with plate extended
4x8 @ +25
Had my arms pretty damn close to my chest and did a good job getting down into the squat with my back straight. Still some flaring problems with the left foot though.
Rear raises
3x10 @ 10 (EH)
Bent Over Rows
3x10 @ 35 (EH)
Bada bing, badaboom time for a nap.

I think this qualifies as the workout of the surreal today-- explanation below
Friday, April 21
Dynamic Shoulder Stretches before and after workout
Single Leg Air Humps
4x10
Pushups with pause at bottom
3x10
Diagonal Lunges
3x10 @ 10 (EH)
Really felt these in the hip flexors today
Planks
4x40 seconds
Squats with plate extended
4x8 @ +25
Foot didn't flare out at all, but did have some forward lean. I've found that it helps if I stay at the bottom for a short period of time. It allows me to get comfortable in that position with my back more upright than it used to be.
Bent Over Rows
3x10 @ 35 (EH)
Also did some rotational exercises to help with my thoracic stability. I've noticed that due to pitching and hitting that I can rotate further to the right than I can the left.
Now for the surreal part. Where I have been doing all of this work, the ab mats on the top level by the track, overlook the basketball courts. Normally it's a bunch of middle aged men trying to play. Today, the two near courts were being used for a luncheon of some sort. All throughout the workout I could smell cheap catered luncheon food. Made me hungry, but at the same time it was not really appetizing. Also, they had a whole table of desserts that wasn't even touched. That was annoying.
And as I listened to the speaker, the music is not on up there, it sounded to be some biology awards thing. Ok, I get it, a science geek lunch. So they started handing out awards for posters and projects, and the title of these projects were insane. "The study of biological enthrocytes and how they affect the mental stress cortisol level mitochondria......" yeah you get the gist.
It was weird.
