Re: 2006 Pack: A Fat Boy\'s Shallow and Vain Journey
You people are so dirty.
Tuesday January 10
5 minute warmup @ 3.5
3 rounds- 60 seconds at 10.7, 120 seconds at 7
5 minute cooldown
19 minutes total.
Who would have ever thought that 0.2 mph was that much of a difference. I almost passed out.

Re: 2006 Pack: A Fat Boy\'s Shallow and Vain Journey
Enough....I apologized. Unlike some of you I actually have to work during the day so I sneak in when I can. That doesn't allow me much time to over analyze my wording or spelling....SHEESH!!! Where's Jamie when you need somebody to say something that will take the pressure off you.

Re: 2006 Pack: A Fat Boy\'s Shallow and Vain Journey
Oh boy....... this log went down the crapper in a hurry.
EDIT: I just read that; and sorry for the horrible pun.
Double workout tomorrow. Too tired and busy today for anything. Workout in the afternoon and intervals tomorrow night. Or something along those lines.

Nick,
are your rests prescribed to be that fast during your intervals? I usually warm-up at your rest pace and rest at your warm-up pace. 10.7 for 60 secs is darn good!

Re: 2006 Pack: A Fat Boy\'s Shallow and Vain Journey
I think it's safe to post updates......
Wednesday January I have no clue because the forum was down
Superset 1
Squats
3x15 @ 170
Seated Cable Rows
3x15 @ 120
Superset 2
DB Push Press
8, 10, 12 @ 40, 35, 30
Rotational Lunge
3x15 (each leg)
The push press turned into a military press and because I have to check out the swiss balls, I swapped the supine hip extensions and the lunges.
Superset 3
Supine Hip Extension
3x15
Swiss Ball Weighted Situp
3x15 (+10)
The supines are much harder than they look.
This is one heck of a workout, and I had no idea that B would be harder. But it was.

Re: 2006 Pack: A Fat Boy\'s Shallow and Vain Journey
Thursday January 19
Well, I made the mistake of going at 4:30 with the brilliant idea that I could watch "PTI" while on the treadmill. Ha! The treadmills were all taken, so I resorted to intervals on the track.
I ended up doing six straightaway sprints, and I have no idea how long or far I went. I was pretty spent though.

Re: 2006 Pack: A Fat Boy\'s Shallow and Vain Journey
Saturday, January 21
Because it was busy AT 12:30 ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON!!! (F*(k the New Year's Resolution people) I resorted to do workout B on Saturday morning, when I knew it would be empty.
Superset 1
Deadlifts
3x15 @ 175
DB Incline Press
15, 13, 11 @ 55
For the love of God, this is the worst superset ever created. I don't know how I made it through. I can hardly wait until it's 3x10 with 45 second rest periods! (sarcasm)
Superset 2
Bulgarian Split Squats
3x15 @ 10 (EH)
Lat Pulldown
3x15 @ 120
I now have no legs left. Oh, great, it's romanian deadlift time!!
Superset 3
Romanian Deadlifts
3x15 @ 100
Swiss Ball Lateral Roll
3x15
A little awkward on the rolls, and I proceeded home to almost puke my guts out.

Re: 2006 Pack: A Fat Boy\'s Shallow and Vain Journey
Championship Sunday January 22
5 minute warmup @ 3.5
3 rounds- 60 seconds at 10.7, 120 seconds at 7
5 minute cooldown
19 minutes total.
I went right at noon, when the rec opened, so I could get it out of the way before football.
One interesting observation, and it is like this on Saturday mornings too: It seems that females are more predispositioned to getting up off their butts after (presumably) a long night of drinking on the weekend to come and work out relatively early than guys are. The cardio area is always 90% female and was pretty filled, while the area with the machines, which is fairly male dominated was bare. I wonder why this is.

Re: 2006 Pack: A Fat Boy\'s Shallow and Vain Journey
Monday January 23
Superset 1
Squats
3x15 @ 170
Cable Seated Rows (Close Grip)
3x15 @ 135
Had to do close grip because I had to work in with a tool that was just sitting there doing nothing on the row bench.
Though very tough in it's own right, this is not as hard as the deadlift superset.
Superset 2
DB Military Press
15, 10, 10 @ 30
Rotational Lunge
3x15
Superset 3
Supine Hip Extension
3x15
Weighted Swiss Ball Situp
3x15 (+10)
The situps felt harder this go round.
Well, the next time I see this workout it will be 3x12 with 60 second rest periods.

Re: 2006 Pack: A Fat Boy\'s Shallow and Vain Journey
Tuesday, January 24
Didn't do intervals, I instead played 1.5 hours of full court basketball. Made sure to bust my butt up and down the court so I would get just as good of a workout.
Wednesday January 25
Superset 1
Deadlift
3x15 @ 180
DB Bench
3x12 @ 65
Had to sub in flat bench because the inclines were taken. Overestimated again on the weight, I am having a real problem with that in the higher rep ranges. Once again this was not fun. My deadlift form really sucks once I get past 8ish, so I don't know how much I want to go up on Monday.
Superset 2
Bulgarian Split Squat
3x15 @ 10 (EH)
Lat Pulldown
3x15 @ 120
Pretty brutal here. I guess I can go up to 135 for 3x12 next time, because the cable machines at the rec go in increments of 15. WTF?
Superset 3
Romanian Deadlift
3x15 @ 100
Lateral Roll
3x15
Goodbye sets of 15 and hello sets of 12 with shorter rest periods.
I also noticed a lot of different curl variations today, as well as a lot of people who obviously don't train their legs. I guess I was in a critical mood or something.

Man, doing DLs up front and RDLs at the back end. AND the evil Bulgarians in the middle. That must suck. Ouch.

Re: 2006 Pack: A Fat Boy\'s Shallow and Vain Journey
Hey Nick, great log - how are you planning to do the different programs? Are you following one of the layouts or have you made your own up? I see that you're on FLI right now... Just finishing the Break In this morning so need to decide what's next. I don't exactly fit in with any of the 4 'types'.. Also - did you take the prescribed 'time off' after break-in?

Re: 2006 Pack: A Fat Boy\'s Shallow and Vain Journey
O-
I ended up taking 4 days off between the break in and the FL1. I thought that it was enough rest, and I really was itching to jump in the gym.
I am going to do FL1 and FL2 and then see where I am at the middle of March. My timeline is to approximately May 12, give or take a little bit, and I would really like to be lean by the retreat April 8, but that may be a little unrealistic at this point.
But, if you thought the Break In was hard, you will be in for a shock on that first fat loss workout, and then especially w/o B. It's insane.

Re: 2006 Pack: A Fat Boy\'s Shallow and Vain Journey
Great - thanks. I was thinking 4 days as well, so that's what I'll do.
I think I'm going to do FL2 next.. The break-in was hard, but I did find that I was managing better by the last couple of workouts, so hopefully the same will hold true for the FL's!
All the best on your timeline - I'll follow yr log with interest...
