Tapering
After spending several months running and swimming and biking, spending the evening inside knowing that I should NOT go run or bike with only a couple of days before the event, sucked. This week has been very weird for me in this regard.
Oh well. I pick up my race package tonight after 5pm and then I come home and tidy up a bit, check back over my bike and get ready for the race on Sunday.

Tapering is a good thing, but nobody says you can't go out and run an easy mile just to stretch your legs.
If we don't chat online before Sunday, Og, have a great race. Most of all, have fun. I think you'll really enjoy the atmosphere and comraderie of a triathlon.

I am somewhat nervous about the whole thing, I am a pretty shy person by nature, well around strangers anyhow.

Story of my life, Looks like the forecast has improved slightly. I'd be ok with rain on the run, but would prefer it to not be on the cycle.

Ah I envy you... Taper was always by far my favorite time of the year. For our swim season we'd typically run a 3 week taper, and by the 2nd week I was bouncing off the walls.
As far as the taper goes, don't be afraid to get out and jog a little, and even work a few moderate-distance sprints. Keep those muscles pumping just enough to stave off lethargy, but not enough to get a burn.
Best of luck this weekend, and know that we're all pulling for you.

I had gone for a few walks and a short swim, Just no running. With the race in a couple of days from what I have read, I should pretty much cool it completely.
Thoughts?
In other news I am getting a basic FREE Blackburn Mag Trainer. I scored gift certificates from work for alot of different stores. I managed to order from REI.com and have them ship to Canada. pretty excited about that.

I guess it depends on what you're comfortable with, and also the type of training you were doing before. Even as a mid-distance/distance guy (500, 1000, Mile), I benefitted a lot from doing some speed work during taper and just giving my aerobic system a rest.
For some numbers, during training I'd be doing around 10,000 yards per day, with challenging sets consisting of about 7,500 worth of that swimming. During taper I'd slowly decrease to about 3,500-4,000 yards with a week to go (about half of which was challenging, but not grueling). During the last week, I'd ultimately drop to two 1,200 yard sessions daily with only about 300-500 yards at anything other than moderate effort. That 300 yards would typically consist of some timed pace work, some sprints, and occasoinally some fast kicking.
At this stage of the game, I certainly wouldn't change your current taper, but I think it would be a good idea to do some activity just to stimulate the muscles, nerves, etc and to prevent lethargy come race day
