About the only thing that I can hold is a plank! One of these days I would like to be able to do some of the gymnastic holds and stuff that I see.
Keep up the hard work!

Chris - just a couple minutes a day will get you there. Nothing fancy, just a slow progression toward "circus freak".

Friday June 9
Front squat (ATG)
8x3, 190 lbs (93% 1 RM)
Long Lever Eccen.: 3x12, 10lb
Dynamic Blackburn: 1x25, 2 lb
Skin-the-cat and back lever progression.
The squats felt good. I think I'll test my 1 RM next week since 190 went up during all sets without much struggle. I'll be aiming for 220 or 225 lbs (205 lb current max).
I've been making a concerted effort to stretch my shoulders and pecs the last few days. They are very tight, especially my left side. I was studying back levers yesterday, and was concerned my lack of shoulder flexibility would be a hindrance in learning the move. I attempted a few on the power rack with marginal success and realized that the racked bar I'd just used for squatting could support my legs while in the "skin-the-cat" position. This allowed me to do a controlled stretch, slowly decreasing the BB height. Got a good stretch out of it, especially in the biceps.

Awesome work on the front squats, they are coming along nicely. You have made consistent progress with them the last few months. I am guessing that you will hit 225 next week.
Is flexability your biggest issue holding a "skin the cat?" I didn't think it was really a strength move, but I have been wrong before. What is the relative difficulity between a back lever and a front lever? I love the gymnastics stuff!

Those are phenomenal Hang Power Cleans - I had to check again and make sure I read the word "Hang" before "Power Clean." Wow! Very impressive DB Shoulder Presses, too - it really shows that all of your other work has given you a lot of strength in that area. Unbelievable stuff.

Sat. June 10
Adv. Tuck Front Lever: 4x10 sec
One-leg bent Front lever: 2x5 sec (each leg)
One-leg bent Back lever: 2x5 sec (each leg)
One hand dead hang: 2x15 sec (each hand)
Mostly fooling around on the chin-up bar. Surprised myself by pulling off the one-leg bent variations on both levers. Very encouraging. As it stands now, I can hold a front and back lever for about one second. Whether or not I'm truly parallel to the ground is up for debate. Pictures will be the judge but I should work on the progressions more before taking any.

Monday, June 12
Elevated Deadlifts (4" block)
5x5, 225 lbs
Bulgarian Split Squats
3x8, 25 lb DBs
External Rot.: 3x12, 10 lbs
One-leg bent FL: 2x5 sec (each leg)
One-leg bent BL: 2x5 sec (each leg)
Resisted the urge to go heavier on the deads and instead concentrated on form.

Craig - fear of tearing up my shoulders is probably a bigger issue than flexibility. It's just a matter of getting used to hanging in that position. At this point I'm just taking it easy, slowly allowing myself to get deeper. The "skin the cat" move really isn't a strength move any more than a knees-to-elbows is, it's more of a "position". The front and back levers are both Level A ring moves.
Dave, Milkman, John and everyone else, thanks for the compliments. The encouragement is greatly appreciated.

Nice lifts, Greg. And smart thinking. I'm trying to knock this sort of sense into my brain too.
