Re: the legs feed the wolf
Careful with that knee, bro. We don't need any more walking wounded around these parts! Stop if it doesn't feel like it can handle the work.
Great job on acquiring the Associates Degree! You should be real pleased with yourself. Do you have any future plans for that degree? What was it in?

Re: the legs feed the wolf
I finished my requirements for it a year or so a go...but never actually broke down and gathered up the transcripts to submit. My boss told me to do it or he'd kick the crap out of me! He's bigger than I'm so figured it'd be a good idea to do some fax'in! So now I'm an "Information Technology" person...thing.
I need somewhere between 9-13 classes for my bachelors in ManagementHuman Resources. Yet again my lack of sending in transcripts leaves me at a noticable dis-advantage at higher education! Reguardless it's basicly a years worth of learnin...and 13 years to get it so I'm doing ok.
After I get that I'm going to "treat myself" and go for the nsca-pt cert...mabey work part-time to see what kind of opertunities and pay is out there, then go on to get my masters in HR. Want to get what I "need" before I get what I "want"...getting a personal trainer cert is deffinately "neat" in my book but if it doesn't put money on the table then it's crap! I'm not sure how marketable a HR degree is, but I ought to be able to be picked up SOMEWHERE with one.
You don't have to call me "sir"...I prefer "grande puba"...or even "gimp" seems pretty appropriate!

Re: the legs feed the wolf
I decided to take this week off, due to mounting discomfort in...everything. Combined with the holiday going to the gym would be difficult...my battery on the HR monitor crapped out. All in all seemed like as good a time to take a break as any.
The knee is feeling a little better. Definately not "better" but it's deffinately better than it has been for a week or two.
The little woman things she might be pregnet. DAMN ME AND MY MIGHTY SPERM!!

Re: the legs feed the wolf
Well...home test turned out positive! Looks like we'll be having baby 2.0...bigger...better...new and improved!
Ga-Jesus...wasn't ready for that
As far as fitness is concerned...my 50 miles is going to have to wait. With one young'un spending time away wasn't so much of a deal. I don't think I could leave the Ms. pregnant minding a little one...or non-pregnant minding two for the amount of time that it'll take to accomplish. That especially considering the length of time involved.
Diet is going to take a turn for the cheap. I'll have to figure that out soon enough.
I think I'll start shooting for strength for now and work on size after the PT test. I need to look at the TT training plans a little more to see what I want to do and how to incorperate running (think 5k) into it or simply just do the interval training...mabey tack on a little extra or throw in a long run.
I dunno...we shall see.

Re: the legs feed the wolf
Well, Congratulations on the surprise! Kids do have a way to postponing plans.. but that is a nice family you'll have!
I had wished that I had more than just one child.
Hope though that you'll still stick around the forum

Re: the legs feed the wolf
Now more than ever. I don't really plan on "huge" changes...just adapting to the situation. More emphasis on weight training and intervals...more "speed" in workouts.
Internet is a necessity in my book. We don't have tv stations and don't understand the radio 70% of the time so this is our one real connection to the world.
It'll be a sad, sad day when I give up on the forums!!

Re: the legs feed the wolf
Thanks DaveKuri. Diapers suck. 1 they're expensive as hell. 2 they take up trash space. Over here they're huge into recycling so you only get to throw out 2 bags of non-recyclable trash every OTHER week. With ONE child producing her share of crap filled diapers we're illigaly smuggling trash on base. With an additional one I was thinking of starting my own little black market!

Since the winds have changed I changed with'em. Today was first day of new diet and new workout plan. Eating 1,600 calories a day approx 30% proteinfat 40% carbs.
I'm following the TT recommendations pretty darn stricly in that and the workout reguards. Took measurments and pictures so we'll see what does what over the next couple of months untill it's time to start adding some meat to these bones!

TT Holiday Fat Loss Special BW
Workout A:
-Warmup
2 circuits no rest
10 BW Squats
6 pushups
20 bicycle crunches
-Workout
5 sets max pullups 9/6/4/5/4
5 sets max pushups 23/15/13/8/10
-Interval
3min warmup
x4{1min run}
x4{1:30min recovery}
3min cooldown
*****
The next couple of months will be getting as light as possible while improving relative strength in reguards to reps.
The BW exercises fit the bill with what I'm doing here. A fat loss routine seems to be a good plan.
I was pretty impressed with my performance today. Even though there's deffinately room for improvement, all reps were quality (which isn't a requirement for the PT test). Doing 23 pushups right off the bat tells me I don't have to make up a lot of ground there. The pullups are just golly gee, but I'm happy with them too.
All the running up to date, probibly helped out with the intervals even though the form is totally different (landing on the balls and really forcing striking pace vs landing on heels and stressing conservative movements). My pace was pretty good too. It wasn't untill after the final interval that I REALLY started to cramp, and even that went away after a few minutes. The intervals themselves were kind of slow at just under a 6min pace but that's ok for now.

Re: the legs feed the wolf
Wow. Good luck with the addition. A coworker of mine did an internship in Germany last summer, and she said that they have a lot of shorter races with weird distances (think 8k). So you could do pretty well training for speed over a shorter distance. But 1600 calories/day??? You plan on dropping to 100 pounds or something? That just seems low... maybe 2000 would be more appropriate. Just a thought.

Re: the legs feed the wolf
Part of the really low calories is my tiny, tiny frame. It's great when I gain weight because it's like BLAM!! Any little bit pops out and looks impressive. Sucks when I lose because I don't have the mass under the flub, so I need to lose bigger % than the average bear to appear more lean. One fella made my day before christmas when I told him wanted to get up to 170, was was like "oh that should be easy, you're what 160-165?", "closer to 140" Of course my "week off" put me a little more on the way with a 6lbs gain!
I haven't been particularly successful losing weight on anything over 1,800 and if I start at 1,600 then that gives me a little bit of breathing room...like today when I cheated with 1/2 and orange and some sugar free catsup (not on the orange). It's on the light side, but not freakishly low and it'll only be for 2 - 2 12 months. So it's not a long term plan If they measure like they did last year I have 2" to spare right now, so all is well.
I've seen some adverts for some 7k races. Wasn't even a consideration before but now I'll have to start looking into it! Especially once the weather warms up some!

Congrats on the forthcoming Lil' Gobbla...
Different subjuct. I'm curious, do you go with German Christmas traditions while you're over there? Were you being good so Knecht Ruprecht wouldn't bring his his sack of switches and coal to your house?

Re: the legs feed the wolf
LD to be honest I really don't "know" any Germans. I mainly work with Americans (3 of the 4 on my shift) the only other nationalities that I'm really involved with daily are Turkish (who does the Rhamadan thing), Dutch, and British. I didn't even know about the Santa Dutch thing (coming in the begining of Dec) untill it was already over! My wife is pretty involved with the local customs going to the "Christmas Markets" and doing her part to keep the locals financed thru another season but by in large I'm an outcast. Re: the legs feed the wolf
TT Holiday Fat Loss Special BW
Workout C:
-Warmup
2 circuits no rest
10 BW Squats
6 pushups
20 bicycle crunches
-Workout 3 circuits 1min rest between circuits
Squat x 20
pushup x 8
plank x 30sec
Reverse Lunge x 10
Chinup x 30sec
Spiderman Pushup x 20sec
Mountain Climber x 60sec
Diagonal Alternating Lunges x 10
Stickup x 8
-Interval
3min warmup
x4{1min run}
x4{1:30min recovery}
3min cooldown
***********
The mountain climbers were deffinately the sticking point to the whole deal. That's a lot of time to be in the pushup "up" position . I paced the chinups a little too quick needing a break right near the end. Felt appropriately gay on the spiderman pushups, but sucked up the pride and did'em anyway.
The intervals were probibly overkill since I was wheezing pretty hard by the third circuit, but next month will be even harder so I want to keep on the "push" mentality so I don't die on the next phase.
